My Experience at Boulder Neurosurgical/Dr Nelson's office is always a positive one. Everyone one is professional and friendly. My fusion from 2007 is holding perfectly, new issues have been addressed. I left the office feeling confident and reassured. I would highly recommend, Dr Nelson, Mike and and the staff to anyone looking for an office that takes care of you like family! I am very Thankful for their care.

I've had a great experience, especially since my back seems to be fixed, or at least well on the way to being fixed. Office staff members have been friendly and informative, and Dr. Nelson has been exact in explaining my condition and my procedure.

I credit Dr. Nelson with my ability to still walk. He is extremely professional, yet radiates warmth, comfort, and serenity. I was so lucky that he was the one who had an opening when I called. I consider him part of my medical family.

I had thoracic spine surgery with Dr. E. Lee Nelson and his team 8 years ago and was very impressed and satisfied. I knew that if I needed additional spine surgery, without a doubt I would go back to him. On 12/16/20 I had Dr. Nelson operate on my cervical spine. Again Dr. Nelson and his team were fantastic. They are so accommodating, professional and caring. I had all the faith in the world that I was in the best of hands. I am part of the Montana group of people who travel 550 miles each way just for him. I also would like to say that Mike Kiley his PA is also fantastic.

As always Dr Nelson and PA Mike Kiley go above and beyond to make sure I am doing well after me 2 level lumbar spine fusion!! His office and staff are great!

Dr. Lee Nelson and his team are amazing. Was diagnosed with a serious condition and Dr. Nelson’s schedule was booked out for months. After a review of my MRI and exam, Dr. Nelson opened the office on a Friday (normally closed) to accommodate and get my condition addressed, saving me months of misery. Dr. Nelson and his team are the best!!

He is an excellent surgeon and a kind man. I am completely pleased with results of the double lumbar fusion he performed two years ago. He has a great team full of kind, smart caregivers.

Dr. Nelson and Team have been exceptional. They can be straight to the point, but not pushy at all. My recovery started rough, but the team was very good about getting me back to a comfortable and rested state. I’m only 2 weeks out from an ACDF C5C6, but I am confident that I will be back to doing what I love soon! Maybe even take a couple strokes off my handicap!

Doctor Nelson fixed by problem with true perfection. I would recommend anybody who has a spine condition or issue to use him as a surgeon. His whole team were very professional. My pain was alleviated in a matter of 2 days after the surgery. I did not have to use hard narcotics to overcome the surgery which I believe is a major plus.

Always good experience with Mike and Dr Nelson. Feels like they really care about their patients.

Dr Nelson is not only a brilliant and skilled neurosurgeon but also a lovely, compassionate and caring doctor. Dr Nelson performed a complex cervical procedure that was 100% successful. I credit the success to Dr Nelson's expertise, experience and skill. His followup and post surgical care were equally notable. Dr Nelson warrants my highest recommendation in every aspect of his medical practice.

My entire experience with Dr Nelson and his team has been first rate. I suffered with severe leg pain for several years. Dr Nelson performed a L4-L5 fusion with laminectomy. I am now pain free. He is an excellent listener, and spent a huge amount of time explaining the MRI and going over treatment options. Highly recommend.

Dr. Nelson gave me my life back; my back pain was so severe I thought I would be unable to walk. Dr. Nelson performed a two level lumbar fusion (L4-L5, L5-S1) and I became pain free - a miracle. His surgical skills are superlative, but Dr. Nelson is also a great listener, empathetic, patient with my questions, realistic but optimistic about my recovery path. He also has a great, great staff: Mike the PA, his nurses, and all the office staff are friendly but also professional, efficient. I would recommend him to anybody, and I would trust him with my life and my healthcare, and the care of my loved ones, without any hesitation at all.

Dr. Nelson performed an L3/4 laminectomy on my back on May 1, 2019. The results were immediate and profound: my acute bilateral nerve pain disappeared. Dr. Nelson is a world class neurosurgeon, and his skill and expertise were evident throughout this procedure, from his explanation of the benefits, efficient scheduling, competent care and detailed followup. I would recommend him to anyone contemplating this procedure.

Grade 5 cerebral aneurysm with SAH in 2004. Fortunate to have Dr. Nelson repair aneurysm and provide care thereafter. Can’t say enough about Dr. Nelson’s caring , knowledgeable and professional attention. Dr. Nelson is the best. In my opinion, could almost walk on water! Respect and love him.

Spent a lot of time before surgery. Nothing after surgery

Excellent Surgeon along with a knowledgeable and friendly staff. Highly recommended if you want to come out of surgery in a repaired state. My pinched nerve pain from my bulging discs after surgery are gone. Could not be happier.

It's taken a while to write this review.....14 years ago Dr. Nelson did emergency surgery on our 19 yro son who had a C3/C4 spinal cord injury. Yes, he is classified as a quadraplegic. He also now works for the State Department, has 2 master's degrees, and, amazingly, has 2 daughters. None of this would have been remotely possible without the highly skilled hands of Dr. Nelson. He was there to do an all-night crucial surgery, and he is there in our hearts for the rest of our son's life.

Dr. Nelson's staff is uncaring and has zero patience. In my opinion, they are not about taking care of his patients. Since he is not available most of the time, he gets one side of the story and allows them to run his patients off without hearing directly from the patient. We are no longer welcome in their office because of a late arrival to a pre-surgical appt and they used a TBI disability to "enforce" this. Unethical if you ask me.

I was on vacation from Michigan when I needed help so I thought I was doomed until I met him. He walked in with swag. Felt instantly comfortable, which is rare for me. I was coming out of a Dilaudid fog with the worst pain in my life, emotional and scared; the way he talked to me was perfect. As a nurse, I know a lot of doctors and can tell when they really care. I went into surgery unafraid and feeling blessed he was there to help me. Happy to report I'm doing well.

Very attentive, careful execution of services. Was unsure of PA follow ups, but they, too are excellent. A very Passionate surgical office. Have experienced 6 week out for appointments.

I went to Dr. Nelson experiencing severe epidural pain having previously tried epidural injections without relief and two previous laminectomies. I was unable to take a step without pain and spent many sleepless, pain filled nights. I am 86 years old and otherwise in generally good health. I was pleased when he told me he thought he could help me. He carefully reviewed how he planned to do the surgery. Now I have very little sciatic pain and sleep well most nights thanks to Dr. Nelson.

Often surgeons in general, and especially neurosurgeons, have reputations of not having good bedside manners. Dr. Nelson goes above and beyond to care for his patients' wellbeing and makes time to explain all aspects of any procedure/surgery. After my first surgery in 2005, my hospital nurse asked how I was so fortunate to have Dr. Nelson as my surgeon. I told her it was just luck, and that someone was looking over me. My wife knows I trust no one else to cut on my spine other than Lee Nelson.
