Dr. Stephen Kenji Aoki

Dr. Aoki is clearly prejudiced against young people who have chronic pain. He was arrogant, dismissive, and condescending. It sure seems like he decided he was not going to treat me before he even saw me. He completely disregarded my knee problem I was seeing him about, and instead took the rest of my appointment to berate me about my other severe chronic pain which I still suffer from a past car accident (which was not even why I was there). When I tried to call for some clarification from his medical assistant on some of the cruel statements he made to me, they refused to call me back even after I called several times. Dr. Stephen Aoki is such an outstanding surgeon. Our daughter had a skiing accident and Dr. Aoki, performed a difficult knee surgery on her. We are so pleased with her surgery outcome and progress! Dr. Aoki is very knowledgeable, well trained, highly professional and has an positive personality. We highly recommend him and his professional staff! Great and kind, the real kind of doctor you need when injured. ????????????????????

Dr. Aoki worked on my knee roughly 16 years ago after a motorcycle accident, the injury was severe and typically would have been amputation. However, he saved my leg. I can't say enough about Dr. Aoki and today I still recommend him.

After 5 other Drs. missed my daughters diagnosis, Dr Aoki asked for the right X-rays in the right position to explain my daughters pain. Dr Aoki has been profesional and caring throughout her surgeries and we are grateful for his expertise and bedside manner! We know he is crazy busy but you can’t tell as he takes his time to explain and a answer questions like you are his only patient!

Dr. Aoki is a brilliantly and gifted surgeon. I had a hip surgery at TOSH with a highly recommended surgeon. After four years of pain, multiple physicians, and failed treatment plans my insurance changed and I was able to see Dr. Aoki. Before my appointment he already had my scans and walked in and told me he thought he knew what was wrong. In ten minutes he diagnosed my problem pending a contrast MRI. My surgery was scheduled and I am now recovering. The difference between the two surgeons and experience is night and day. Dr. Aoki has fabulous bedside manner. He isn’t cut hungry which is unfortunate because he is so talented. I feel so healthy and healed and would recommend Dr. Aoki to anyone. Dr. Aoki is the best choice if you have a child in need of a surgery he specializes in. He genuinely cares for his youth athlete patients, has incredible bedside manner and takes the time to go over the diagnosis in detail. He talks directly to your child so they feel empowered in their health decisions as well. Dr Aoki has my utmost respect and trust. My son feels Dr Aoki is in his corner at all times, having had 3 knee surgeries in a 3 year span.I would ( and I do ) refer him with great confidence. Didn't believe child after visting with her for 5 minutes. He told her she needed mental health therapy because her knee was fine. It was not fine! We have spent 2 years trying to convince our daughter that all doctor's aren't as terrible as this one was.

Absolutely love how patient and dedicated he was. He seems to really care about his patients and he was recommended by multiple doctors as the very best. The outcome, so far, has been awesome.

Dr. Aoki has been my daughter's Dr. for twelve years and has performed four surgeries on her. Every time he is extremely attentive to the problem she is having . He is a good listener and helps you make the best decision for your needs. We love the service we get with him. This is why we have continued to use him for her knee problems. Dr. Aoki has been able to help both of my sons with their knee issues that we previously were not able to get answers to. He also repaired a torn meniscus on my left knee just recently. My knee is doing well. I can run again!

Horrible experience!My 15 year old daughter has suffered knee pain for years. We were referred to Dr. Aoki because he is a"specialist" and great with adolescent knee pain. He asked my daughter a few questions and bent her knee. He interacted with her for 3-5 minutes. Then he told her she has mental problems.."This is all in your head." He spent 20 minutes telling her she was depressed and crazy. Our experience was awful! My daughter had surgery a few weeks later. It wasn't in her head!

Our daughter has been a patient of Dr Aoki for years. Dr Aoki has performed 7 knee surgeries. Our daughter had a left lateral meniscus transplant 12/20/16, started having left knee pain Jan 2018. Saw dr Aoki, mri was ordered. He ordered surgery & today said our daughter is faking being in pain. Her knee was hot to the touch, she was fine till recently and MRI that I see online tells another story. He’s just covering his butt from the object he left in.

I had to have a complete ACL replacement, and a meniscus repair. Dr. Aoki was hands down the best orthopedic surgeon I've worked with. I worked with a different group of orthopedic surgeons; Dr. Aoki came recommended from a family friend. I'm so glad I went to him. I've never looked back. I have full functionality and rang of motion with my knee.
