The visit was extremely useful and I believe the problem will be thoroughly solved.
Christopher, my husband had a wonderful experience, feels the dr was friendly, thorough and very aware of his dx. treated him with kind and caring manner.
Dr. Samson is a little rough around the edges, but he is the smartest orthopedic doctor I’ve seen in the last 15 years. He is not the type of doctor that encourages you towards surgery. He’s honest and thorough and doesn’t push you to have a lot of tests done and simple X-ray usually is enough. I would recommend him to anyone who has problems with their joints. Dr. Sampson was wonderful. He listened to me as I explained how the injury happened, previous treatment had, and why I felt my foot was not healing. He did physical tests not done before, took x-rays and discussed with me what he sees and next steps. I was not rushed, and we will work together to come to a proper treatment.

Nicely run facility, great care, knowledgeable and fast staff. Real good , informative experience
From the Time I stepped into the building until I exited, everyone was very covid consensus. My time with Dr Sampson was well spent as he explained ways to avoid surgery at this time and give me websites of appliances that might be helpful for my foot problem. Glad that I went and discussed my problem with him.

I saw Dr. Sampson from a reference given by a coworker. She sliced her fingers while cutting wood. Dr. Sampson did a great job reattaching them and she can use her hand again! I went to see him because I had a trigger finger on my right thumb. He gave me a steroid shot twice and I have been doing great! I highly recommend Dr. Sampson for any problems with Hands. Everything went as planned, from diagnosis with proper testing, to the surgery. I am a very happy patient with a great outcome after surgery. I had a glomous tumor on finger that went undiagnosed for years and Dr Sampson helped me.
I must've gotten him on an off day. Extremely expensive visits that consisted of waiting around an hour for 10min of his time. Hamate fracture, knuckle and back of hand now in a bowed position that is more likely to re-break after his "magical skills" at surgery.

Amazing experience. Previous hand specialist could not compare with this doctor. He should have been a neurosurgeon. His expertise locating the nerve was a phenomenon and the care...

Thank you, Dr. Sampson, for the care you have provided for my left wrist. After 7 years of seeking a solution for my left wrist and the pain I have endured over the years, I am so happy I found you and hope this is the end of it. Thank you and God Bless!
I saw Dr. Sampson on 16 February 2021. He was polite and professional. I very much respected that he and his associates were wearing masks continually while they were seeing patients. This is a stressful reality for everyone, but Dr. Sampson did not show any rudeness or abruptness toward me during my visit. I would definitely recommend this expert doctor to others who had hand or wrist problems (with the bones, ligaments, etc.). I thanked him before I left.
Amazing man. Great doctor. Smart. Highly skilled. Compassionate. Thanks for being you.
Waited over a hour for him to first jerk me around with sarcastic questioning and making me feel like an idiot, then told me he thought I had sciatica and that he couldn't help me. Didn't even suggest another doctor. Cost me over $300 for the appointment and another $60 for x-rays. Do not go here!!!
This is the doctor you want to take care of you. Honestly the best orthopedic surgeon in New York I have had (and overall physician in general at Stony Brook for that matter). He saved my hand. He really knows his stuff and is an expert. He’s worth the wait, trust me.

I had what’s called trigger finger in 2 fingers on both hands - he saved my hands - and I play guitar. He assured me a simple operation - it was! Excellent doctor, person and staff.

Horrible experience. Diagnosed me before he looked at xrays. Very dismissive and condesending. Told me he wasn't giving me drugs. Did I ask for drugs? NO! He told me to get orthotics, gave me a card where to go and said don't drink alcohol??? I was there to rule out arthritis. He said forget about arthiritis you don't have it. Guess what my xrays showed? Arthritis!!! Never going back! Horrible experience. Diagnosed me before he looked at xrays. Very dismissive and condesending. Told me he wasn't giving me drugs. I was diagnosed with a condition in my ankle and Dr. Sampson told me continuously to try physical therapy, despite me telling him it was not helping. Then made me feel as though the condition was not getting better as a result of me not trying. When I was doing exactly what he told me to do. Finally saw a new doctor who KNEW about the condition, treated me with cortisone injections and ultimately resorted to surgery. It’s a world of difference to see a doctor/surgeon who knows what they are looking at and believes your pain. Being in pain is defeating enough, and you don’t need a doctor who will make you feel as though it’s your fault. Do yourself a favor and seek another doctor, or a second opinion. I broke my wrist (scaphoid) last summer. He explained what he was going to do and why. He tried to make me understand what would be happening if I don't get a proper treatment. He asked me if I am in sports. He said in that case I could get a surgery that will expedite the healing process. He recommended that I put on a cast for 3 months instead of having the surgery since I am not in any sports. After about 120 days (3 months with 3 casts and 1 month with a brace) from the day I got the fracture, I became fine and I started lifting weights and playing the drums. Now it took about a year, and I am absolutely fine. If you google scaphoid fractures, you will see how many people are suffering from aftereffect. I have nothing like that. He is also friendly. He did a 9 hour surgery on my left ankle. Fused it. Prior to the surgery I found him to be attentive, smart and answered all my questions. Yes getting an appointment with him is difficult naturally because he’s so good. The staff and waiting room, not so much. Thats basically what you get at SBUH. He is an excellent surgeon & Monday I see him for Lisfranc injury on my right foot. I highly recommend him. 1st surgery was PERFECT & I’m hoping not to have another one. I trust him to do what’s right
Have been having significant pain in certain joints including the base of my thumb. Saw Dr. Sampson and had x-rays. He didn't see anything. Maybe early arthritis. Three times he mentioned that he didn't believe in drugs, as if I was a drug seeker and despite me being a patient of a pain management doctor in his same office who had referred him to me. Dr. Sampson is very knowledgeable and professional; does a thorough examination which includes many questions to the patient about symptoms and contributing factors to narrow down a diagnosis. He is conservative in his treatments but explores different modalities. He is an excellent physician.

He saved both of my fingers and really took the time to understand my case and advise me. He's exactly what you would want from an Orthopedic surgeon. You'll be happy you saw him.

He's excellent. He saved both of my hands - I had something called trigger finger. He's just a great guy to talk to, listens, advises - he's exactly what you want form an orthopedic surgeon. Don't have surgery until you consult with him. Highly recommended.

I used this surgeon for my worker's comp injury. He stopped the PT way too early. After my surgery, my arm was in a cast and had pins sticking out but according to this Dr. I was only 10% disabled and could return to work. The comp Dr. Ordered more than this Dr.
