Uma Murthy

Most unreliable office ever. No one ever answers the phone calls, even if they do the wait time on the phone is too long, happens every single time and they don't do anyhting about it. Wait time at the office is also ridculously long, once it took me almost 1.5 hours to see the doctor. No followup calls are made after the lab results are out, no responsibility is taken for the patient. But, they never forget to collect the bills from patient even after such bad service. The doctor and her treatment is alright but the rest needs to be taken care of.

I was very fortunate to find Dr. Murthy. Dr. Murthy is very knowledgeable and even with my language barrier, she tries to listen to me patiently. I look forward to visiting her office.

I waited over an hour for my appointment. When Mt name was called, the took another woman who came in after me, instead of myself. Totally a waste of time and truly unprofessional.

1996 Dr. Murthy became our pcp. Many years of reliable care, advice, tests and compassion rarely encountered in the medical field, has been our experience. The only reason I gave 4 stars (not 5) is because she does not have hospital privileges (older age has now made it a concern). Dr. Murthy and her office mgr., Mina, are some of healthcare's finest and I hope they never retire. 1996 Dr. Murthy became our pcp. Rushes you out the door, bills insurance incorrectly, and all she wants to do is write prescriptions.

I really like the Dr, however extremely disappointed with all the communication issues we have had. Results taking weeks and even a (month!) to be given is just not acceptable. She needs a new staff or a new system. Luckily we get lab bills and reports emailed ! Looking for a new PCP today #bummer

Very good Doctor

I love Dr. Murthy. I always get quick tele-appointments.

I have been a patient for just over a year now . I have found Dr. Murthy to be very knowledgable and understanding. She has taken the effort to work with my scheldue when I need to be see and taken the time to answer each of my questions in a kind manner. Uma is fine. Quick, concise, efficient, but patient enough if you say you have more questions or requests. The main brown haired woman who runs the front desk can be a CHORE to deal with. She sometimes acts like she hates the job and hates that you've bothered her in any way. She had an attitude that it's your fault or "how dare you suggest I'm incompetent" if you kindly remind her or ask her for something or do something you were told to that 'is without enough context'. I have been going to Dr. Murthy for over 5 years! I moved from Columbia and couldn't find a better dr so I stayed with her because she has limited Saturday hours which is so helpful for my teacher hours! She takes the time to listen to me and is a caring physician. As the other comments suggest, there is high turnover in the office staff but my file has always been up to date and when i have asked for information to be sent to another provider such as a specialist it was done. They also do accept credit cards as payment (I use mine.) I have been going to Dr. Murthy for over 5 years! My son went to this dr. They only accept cash/check/money order. The nurse had on sweat pants and a bedazzled baseball cape. My son wa diagnosed with “transient” high blood pressure??? Never heard of that. He didn’t even have high bp on the visit. He was given a prescription for high bp and told to take it whenever he felt his heart racing. Look people, I’m a nurse. I am amazed at how bad the business side of this office is. I have been a patient for only a year, and it's been so difficult to deal with them. And I haven't even had real health issues, I just had an regular check up one time and a blood test another time. As much as it is a pain to look for another doctor in the area, I will have to do it, because it took me over two months to be able to pay one of my two bills. Seriously? Done with them. I've been a patient of Dr. Murthy's for about 2 years. The doctor is great - caring, easy to talk to, thorough. And it's great having a LabCorps onsite. Why only 3 stars? Because of the staff! They seem to get worse and worse with each visit! There is a major lack in people skills and the appearance of some is, IMO, inappropriate for a medical office. Easy to talk to, always responsive

Recently changed my insurance and found Dr. Murthy in Columbia. She is a primary care doctor that specializes in endocrinology and gynocology, which encompasses everything I was looking for in a physician. I really love her, she gets 5 stars in my book! She's great at what she does, speaks calmly and clearly, and doesn't get annoyed when I ask her a bunch of questions. I also love that they have a Labcorp onsite! The onsite phlebotomist (Tracy) is fantastic! She's quick and quirky, always making me laugh and forget she's pricking my arm. That being said, sometimes her schedule falls behind and the wait is longer than expected but that's any doctors office, I've had mixed experiences with her being late and on time. The real negative for me about this practice is that the staff here isn't the friendliest. It really disturbed me that one of the assistants was on her phone, with no gloves on, while gathering supplies for the doctor to use on me; very dirty and unsettling. They all seem nice but this and other times I've been here, some of them just dont have very good customer service. All in all, I give this practice 5 stars and would recommend Dr. Murthy!! Dr. Murthy provides enough time to her patients and does not rush unlike other PCPs (who try to finish each appointment under 10 minutes).. Dr. Murthy listens patiently to patient issues and provides feedback and diagnosis. Very pleased to have Dr. Murthy as my PCP.

I love coming in to see Dr. Murthy whenever I am not feeling well. She is very friendly, kind and caring. The front desk is also very friendly. I have already recommended Dr. Murthy to a few friends and they to enjoy the services here.

Very pathetic service. NOT GOOD! Dr. Uma Murthy is not at all professional. She hardly spends time with the patients. Always look for ways to have more visits so that they can bill Insurance and Patients. You need to be careful to check your EOBs to make sure that they bill insurances for the services rendered. I have noticed in my case additional line items in EOBs charged to insurance even the service were not rendered! The front desk personnel who is medical assistance to Dr. Uma Murthy is very rude. Service is very poor and pathetic. Dr. Uma Murthy hardly spends time with the patients. Call for too many follow up so that they can charge / bill insurance and patients. Front desk personnel is very rude. She had my PCP and I hardly recollect any good service. She spent just 5 minutes and when I asked questions, she got irritated. I also saw lot of blood work to be done on my case, when I asked the reason, she could not explain to my satisfaction. May be too get more money from insurance...

Dr. Murthy seems to be doing nothing but collecting a paycheck. She barely explains anything, interrupts when you ask questions, and ignores requests for prescription refills until you call and prod her. I've only once gotten into an exam room in less than 30 minutes of waiting, and it's usually more like an hour. And her staff at the Columbia office can be rude, especially over the phone. I'll soon be switching to someone else.

I have a hard time getting prescriptions refilled for something as simple as high blood pressure medication. They never seem to receive the faxes from Walmart and I have to call the office and request the refill. Apparently she only retrieves her messages once a day.

I showed up for my appointment 30 minutes early as a new patient. After finishing my paperwork in just couple minutes I sat there and waited my turn. They called me back 10 minutes after my scheduled time which wasn't a big deal. The nurse got my vitals then left me in the room with the door wide open. I waited in there for another 20+ minutes before the doctor came in. Once she was in the room she only spent 5 minutes with me, prescribed meds, and sent me on my way. The problems isn't fixed.
