dr, Carlson did corneal transsplants in both eyes could not be happier with the outcome. i would highly and with compelte confindence refer friends and family to him

Last Sept Dr. Karlson did cateract surgery. He came very highly recommended. Unfortunately he put the wrong power lens in my eye leaving me with mono vision. He said he could correct it with lazar treatment in Dec. That didn't work. In fact, at my 3 month follow up, my vision was worse. Each visit took more than 2 hours everytime. Not pleased with the cataract surgery done by Dr. Carlson. I was sold very expensive implants with the claim they were to help me see near, midrange, and far. I cannot see close up or far. I understand Dr. Carlson has had poor success with these very expensive implants but still recommends and uses them. After months of trying to improve my post surgical vision, he gave up. He stated The only way to get good close up vision is to set one eye for near and one eye for far." I said I wish you had done that, as you did fifteen years ago when you did Lasix surgery on me, and were successful with. No response. I do not recommend this surgeon. I regret having cataract surgery by Dr. Carlson. Although surgery on my left eye was successful, surgery on my right eye left me with 20/60 vision. Since I live 80 miles from Duke Eye, my surgery was to be a co-managed by my local optometrist. After my surgery, my optometrist talked to Dr. Carlson about correcting my vision. Carlson called and spoke to my wife. He explained that he had chosen the wrong lens. Dr. Carlson would not talk to me about it, but told me to make an appointment with him.

Dr. Carlson performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes. The surgeries are completely successful, and my world is again clear and bright. I particularly enjoyed Dr. Carlson's teaching function with Duke students as he instructed both the student/s and myself in

An expert at cataract surgery. Answered my many questions with patience and clarity, and was the only doctor within 200 miles who had the best replacement lens I wanted, the Staar Nanoflex Collamer IOL. I could not be happier with the outcome. I see clearly, and have a remarkable range of focus. I hardly need reading glasses. And this lens has the lowest incidence of glare and sparkles of any out there. If you're in driving distance of Durham, see him!
