I have nothing but positive feedback for Dr. Smolyar. He is professional, attentive, patient and VERY good at what he does. My surgery went off without a hitch. I couldn't be happier with how clear my vision is now.

The place is easy to find, but parking is hard to find. My opinion of the office was favorable. Seats are a little small for my rump but I like that they sold glasses there too. Dr Smoylar was spot on with his diagnosis and I look forward to having him as my new eye doctor. I had to transfer from another eye doctor that retired and that I have been going to for over 10 years. Dr Smoylar's office seems to have state of art equipment and he performs the operations not like my previous doctor.

I came to Dr. Smolyar in a weird state. I snuck myself into an appt because you can't get a new patient appointment in Fl. Until 2040. He knew I snuck in but knew I had a problem and just proceeded to help. He was kind, smart, and super professional. He spotted what ended up a thyroid issue quickly and I believe it was his instincts and knowledge that caught something that could have taken an ER visit or 2 to catch! My appointment was on time. Dr. Smolyar was very thorough, discussed my options and I was able to ask questions.

Dr Smolyar did my cataract surgery. I opted for multifocal lenses and am delighted with the results. I can complete newspaper crossword puzzles, work on my computer and use my phone without glasses or readers. Although pricey, I think the results of being able to see without glasses are well worth the cost. The surgery was a breeze, well coordinated and efficient.

When my regular optometrist said it was time for cataract surgery, he recommended Dr. Albert Smolyar. He said he was a gifted surgeon, and after my procedure yesterday I can personally attest to that! The operation was performed with skill, professionalism and care. I had no discomfort during or after the procedure and in just 2 1/2 hours I was able to see without contact lenses for the first time in over 50 years. When I saw Dr. Smolyar today for my post op visit I got the astounding news that my vision was 20-20! I was told that testing 20-20 the day after the surgery was pretty unusual, but I could not be more delighted. All I wanted to do today was to look at the world I'd been missing for who knows how long. I can not find one fault with Dr. Smolyar, nor of the staff at Southwest Florida Eyecare or St. Mark's Surgical Center where the operation took place. I am so looking forward to next Monday when Dr. Smolyar will be operating on my left eye!

Dr. Smolyar was thorough in explaining each option. I decided on the multi vision. After wearing contacts for fifteen years, my vision is now so much better without any contacts! Having moved to FL a year ago, I used online reviews to select an ophthalmologist. I was not disappointed with selecting Dr. Smolyar. He definitely is 5 star in his ability and care.

Several months ago I (age 64) went to Dr. Smolyer for what I assumed was just a check up and a prescription for new glasses. I was then told that I had cataracts in both eyes that should be removed. I was also told that I qualified for having implants put into each eye during the surgery and would be for the most part, glasses free. Two months later and two relatively quick surgeries and recovery times and I am looking at the vibrant colors of the world, through eyes that have needed glasses since age 6 and no longer need them, but for reading. Both my wife and myself have had Dr Smolyar treat use for cataracts. The operations and the pre-op and post-op appointments were conducted efficiently and left us confident that the proposed treatment was correct for our conditions. This was proven out by the actual improvement to our sight because of the surgery

Dr. Smolyar rescued me from an unsuccessful eye surgery by another Eye Practice. He spent immediate extra time evaluating my condition and arranging corrective surgery. My surgery was a great success. I am extremely grateful. I have had a few follow up appointments and am doing wonderful with great vision. I felt very comfortable with Dr. Smolyar and his team. Very well organized practice,all team members were friendly and knowledgeable. Dr, Smolyar did my cataract surgery in both eyes. My sight has improved 100% and can read and drive with ease. He is very detail oriented and I was in no pain or discomfort. Highly recommend Dr,Smolyar and Southwest Florida Eye Care. I saw Dr Sm0lyar for a simple eye exam to get new glasses. He immediately noted that I had drooping eye lids that needed repair. My wife had been pointing out that I frequently drifted to the right when driving, coming very close to the adjacent lanes of cars. My eyelid repair was done quickly, professionally with a preapproval with Medicare. I have received many comments concerning the new look of my eyes. One individual said I looked about 65 years young. I am 84. The examination and the repair were both done with no complications of any kind. I could not ask for a better Doctor.

Saw me on short notice while visiting from out of town when my right eye clouded up. I suspected a detached or damaged retina, but he diagnosed another problem and prescribed accordingly. Have had two follow ups. Very thorough and polite. Great staff.

As a snowbird in Ft. Myers Beach for a month, I had a vision related episode. The emergency room referred me to Dr. Smolyar. I called first thing in the morning and made a same day appt with his schedular. Within minutes of making this appt, Dr. Smolyar's tech called me, asked me about my episode, and moved up my appt time due to the nature of the problem. During my appt I received a thorough eye and vision exam by the tech and then again by Dr. Smolyar. He explained clearly the condition and the options and took time to answer all my questions. Even though they knew I was only in Florida for a month, they provided excellent and very courteous service. I recommend them for any one looking for eye care.

This absolutely is NOT the Dr. you want. He does not freely share information or give the guidance you would expect or want from a physician. My impression is that he is procedure driven. I would never recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Smolyar first saw me when I already had a bad eye infection. It was a Friday and I had a business flight Saturday morning. I was a stranger to him, but he still insisted on coming in on Saturday before my flight to make sure the treatment was starting to work before I went on my trip. That won me over. Since then he has also operated on cataracts on both my eyes and did a phenomenal job. I highly recommend Dr. Smolyar.

Regarding a prior injury of 15 years back, Dr Smolyar invested some time with me before he recommended a specialist with regard to possible surgery. In a nutshell, the Doctor admitted I quite possibly will require surgery and a consult was scheduled. I like the Doctor's approach.

I traveled from Alaska to have Dr. Smolyar do my cataract surgery... he was very impressed with that! Said it was the farthest that anyone had ever come to see him! And I was very happy I did. I'm leaving this review just after having had my one-week-post-op check up and my eye is doing great. Very happy. Professional and knowledgeable staff, I had an emergency and they found a way to work me in day of. Dr. Smolyar was very professional and able to explain to me the issue in terms I can understand, provided great guidance on what to do to get better and 48 hours later my eyes feels 100x better. 10/10 recommend.
