Dr. Tauchen was recommended by another doctor and a friend who also had a hip replacement. Dr. Tauchen and his staff were very thorough and easy to understand about the procedure. I was skeptical when Dr. Tauchen told me that I would be able to go home the same day after my surgery…he was right…I wanted to go home because I felt that I would do better at home. I’ve recommended Dr. Tauchen to others.

Couldn't ask for a better result. Walking 5 miles a day at 4 months post surgery. No pain throughout process. i believe the key to recovery, beyond having a great surgeon, is doing what you are told. Whether it was the doc, his nurses or the PT, I did what they told me to do, I firmly believe this had a great deal to do with my quick post surgical recovery. Highest possible rating for Dr. T.

I knew as soon as I met Dr. Tauchen and his staff that they were the perfect fit for my hip replacement surgery. It's been almost 3 months and I'm THRILLED with the results. The care was exceptional and the whole process was EASY. The thought of getting a hip replacement can be daunting but if needs to be replaced eventually, it's best to just get it done. Call and speak with Dr. Tauchen and/or his amazing nurse, Teresa. They will put your mind at ease and are always available to answer any questions or concerns you may have. It feels great to start 2021 with my new hip and no pain!

I had an anterior approach hip replacement at the end of October and was walking unassisted in a week! Not only is Dr. Tauchen a truly talented surgeon but his manner is both cheerful, caring and intelligent. His nurse goes the extra mile and is very response in person and on the app. My experience staying overnight at the Northshore facility devoted to joint replacement was also fabulous ( who says that about major surgery?). Everyone was caring and responsive. I had as much attention as I needed and the private room is very calming and attractive.

Very simply stated-- it was the best possible experience I could have asked for.. From his assistant, Teresa, as well.. My first hip surgery was performed by a legend, Jim Kudrna.. Dr K retired but recommended Dr T for the other one, and I thought this man has big shoes to fill.. Well, he filled them beautifully! I just went for my one-year post-op and when I was asked which hip they were supposed to examine.. I forgot..!! I think that says it all..

I'm 45 now, 44 when I had total knee arthroplasty with Dr Tauchen. He is the best surgeon, empathic bedside manner, thorough in explaining and answering questions. His whole team is amazing! My knee is as great as it was when I played ice hockey 15 years ago! Thank you Dr Tauchen for giving me my life back and giving me a chance!

Fantastic surgeon, even better human being. This hip replacement's really changed my quality of life and it's all the better that Dr. Tauchen advocated for me personally with my insurance company. My case was unusual (undiagnosed congenital malformation) and Dr. Tauchen was thorough in his care, making sure I was included and educated about the process, and provided a compassionate response you don't typically see in the healthcare system, especially an area so dominated by persistent pain and caretaker fatigue. He's not just a good surgeon, he's a good person. (oh, and his assistant Theresa is fantastic too and definitely deserves mention!)

Dr. Tauchen did a great job replacing my right hip. Just had my 1 year exam and all good. Dr. T is very personable and makes sure he answers all questions. I felt very comfortable with him and very pleased with the result. He also has a wonderful nurse, Theresa ,who works closely with him and is available to patients for any concerns or questions. By the time Dr. Tauchen replaced my left hip I could barely walk. I had gotten opinions from three surgeons, and ended up going with Dr. T because I had a good feeling about him and I figured since he was young and fresh, he would be very cautious with what he was doing. I felt confident with him from the moment I met him. It is now about a year-and-a-half later and my whole life has changed. I can walk, among other things I could not do! It is fabulous. Dr. T also had some challenges with me because I am a cancer patient, and he listened to everything I had to say and acted accordingly. I highly recommend him!

Dr Tauchen performed a total right knee replacement for me last year. I am so happy to be able to do the things I love like keeping up with the grandkids without pain. He didn't rush to surgery but first tried other treatments. When they didn't work he suggested surgery. He is very caring and explained the procedure in detail so that I knew exactly what was going to happen and I was up walking hours after the surgery. I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Tauchen is incredible. He is one of the most caring, informative and one of the most excellent doctor’s I have ever been in involved with. I am a patient of his and underwent a bilateral knee replacement. His concern and bedside manner is one to admire. My knees feel so strong and stable I feel I can climb Kilimanjaro. He really cares for his patients. In my book he will always be an A+++.

He replaced my left hip. Recovery was easier and faster than expected. I was walking up stairs on my second day. Never needed pain killers. I resumed complete recovery in 2 weeks.

Dr Tauchen is a great surgeon that has given me back quality in my life I lost because of a bad hip and knee. He took the time to explain my condition and why getting total replacements was needed. Never made me feel rushed or I was taking up too much of his time. I saw him before surgery, after surgery and each day I was in the hospital. When I hear the nurses say nice things about him, then I know he’s genuine with everyone. His team is great, Nurse Teresa his assistant is also great and calls to check on you after surgery several times. I can’t say enough about Dr Tauchen he’s a great surgeon, person and I would highly recommend him! I’m doing great love my new hip and knee!

As an 'ole OR nurse....I'll never forget seeing Dr. Tauchen as i was wheeled into the operating room. Dr. Tauchen is "hands on" and in charge of positioning, basically every single little or big detail of pre and post-operative surgical experience. I chose Dr. Tauchen (second opinion) after speaking with my own patients whom recommended him and the anterior approach. My recovery was quick. I didn't have to buy the toilet seat riser and was back to work in two weeks! I never had to call his office, nurse Teresa called me to check in. Wow! Thank you for your attentiveness, professionalism and amazing skills.

I have one word for Dr. Tauchen - Amazing! From the beginning to the end of the process everything was clearly explained with accompanying documentation to refer to later. The procedure went very smoothly and I was on my feet a few hours after surgery. Three months after surgery I am walking around perfectly! Thank you Dr. Tauchen for giving me back my stride. :)

I interacted with Dr Tauchen during some unusual circumstances associate to his joint replacement fellowship. I would say he is first of all a man of high integrity and good character who trained with some rather technically good joint replacement surgeons in Virginia. The fact that he not self promotional on this and similar websites testifies to his good character. I strongly suspect he is on-the-way to becoming a very good joint reconstruction surgeon and may well be there already.
