I’m going through a difficult situation with my health and am seeking another opinion from a doctor with fresh eyes. After calling my insurance company, I was told I am able to seek a second opinion without needing to provide a referral or previous medical records. I called this office and explain this to the receptionist Connie who then informed me that’s not their “policy” and that they’d need both of those things. I went on to explain if I was a person who was going for their first test, I’d have no previous records and so that doesn’t make sense. Why couldn’t the doctor provide a test for a person who had no previous test results??? I asked to speak with an office manager and was referred to Lauren. She did call me back and repeat what the receptionist originally said. I then explained again that makes no sense. I agreed to provide a referral but wanted a new test and new results with an unbiased opinion from a caring doctor. She agreed to speak with Dr. Perkins and get back to me. She did call me back and said the Dr. will not see me without prior records. I expressed that’s very suspect that a Dr. would be uncomfortable reading results from a tech in their own office without prior records because what if I had no prior records? Her response was they wouldn’t want to miss anything by not seeing my old reports, there’s more involved and that I already said I had prior reports so it’s not the same. Originally I was offered for this doctor to look at my old records and give a second opinion. I explained I wasn’t interested in a reevaluation. I wanted a brand new test with a brand new opinion, which my insurance says I’m entitled to. I’m trying to be an informed educated women and unfortunately I will not be able to receive that kind of care from this doctor. I’m disappointed to say the least. It’s never a good idea just to do what a doctor tells you. Please do your research if you’re in a similar situation as me. Be persistent. Don’t be in a rush and you will find the help from caring doctors. I do plan to report their refusal to see me as well. After all that back and forth, I would never chose to go to a doctor who proves they do not care and are not confident to read reports from their own technicians in their own office. Ladies or gentlemen, in my opinion, it’s best to find a different doctor.

Dr. Perkins is a wonderful doctor, compassionate and professional. The staff is excellent.
