Reviews for Andrew G Kovacs
I went to see him a few times. I suffer from migraines and just needed my prescription. I was breastfeeding at the time and he was shaming me about doing so to my 1 year old son! Nasty and arogant,he told me that at 1 year old is crazy to continue to breastfeed! This should be discussed with a pediatrician not a neurologist! I left crying and definitely not going to be back there!
I like Dr Kovacs. I find him to be a fair doctor who is knowledgeable and has treated my husband’s condition accurately. He has even been kind when we had no insurance. The cons: Wait time: I understand there is a wait to be expected, but sometimes it has been an hour to an hour plus. I do understand scheduling and wait times are different with specialists but I find it a bit long. Front desk staff: honestly they all are nice except one girl. Her name begins with a letter M. I don’t want to put her name out there but she is super rude. She is very condescending and has very little compassion. She talks with a know it all attitude and has little fear of being fired. It is really sad that she is allowed to talk to people like that. Taking off 1 star only for her because you do have to deal with her in that office. Overall, aside from the one pesky front desk person and the wait times, I do find the care Dr Kovacs provides to be adequate. He is always kind to us, makes jokes, and makes us feel comfortable. He is also very firm and wants the best for his patients. I like Dr Kovacs. I find him to be a fair doctor who is knowledgeable and has treated my husband’s condition accurately. Dr. Kovac is a wonderful Dr. He and his staff has been caring for my aunt for the pass two years after her MS diagnosis. Wonderful caring team and a sarcastically funny doctor
Dr. Kovacs is an Excellent professional neurologist. He was really precise in his diagnosis and he didn't leave any details unchecked. He is a very caring, responsible and knowledgable. One aspect that I really liked about him which surprised me (because is rare nowadays in the medical field), is how generous he is with his time. He knows how to listen And he did not leave any questions unanswered. For him, the patient comes first and he would take the time that is needed to find a solution to the problem. It wouldn’t be right not to mention the young lady Marcella at the front desk she deserves the five stars as well. She is a real sweetheart Dr. Kovacs is an Excellent professional neurologist. Horrible doctor! Dosent take the time to listen to your concerns. Just a pill pusher and very short with his patients! I do not recommend!
No respect for patients! This was my 2nd visit to Dr. Kovacs, (after the 1st visit whereby he took 2 phone calls from his car mechanic and instead of talking to me he started to dictate on the computer (with his back to me) without explaining any of my conditions or the tests he was having me to do.) I gave him the benefit of the doubt, I shouldn't have). But the 2nd visit was my worst at a dr's office! No evaluation of my MRI (he read 2 lines of the findings (which I had read before, nothing new to me) adding nothing and then started to dictate on the computer about my case. He himself told me that he does not remember my symptoms and did not discuss with me 2 tests he had performed in my previous visit (and my insurance had to pay for). He claimed the system was down. (Yet he doggedly continued his dictation, all the while he took 2 calls about some water flooding somewhere (in his home?). After a while of being ignored, I asked him if I could ask a question, he said "Not now". He also got 2 office ladies involved in a computer issue - he did not know how to handle a file, they were trying to teach him - all the while I am sitting there). Once they left and he ceased the dictation, he was very much in a hurry to leave. He said: What is your question? "I have a strange itch on my left foot." His answer (one word): "Dermatologist!" Me: I am coming from a dermatologist, he said it could be a nerve problem. His answer (one word again) "Gabapentin" Me: ???? Well, it turned out (thanks to google I learned) that Gabapentin is a seizure medication for epilepsy. Needless to say I did not get it from the Pharmacy (with no examination I was not willing to risk a misdiagnosis on his part. I think he is too old for this, he evidently does not care for patients, and should do them a last service and RETIRE! I pay $50 copay each time, it was a total waste of money. Dr. Kovacs shows little to no interest in the patient. Instead of speaking directly to me about the results of anything that was done to me. While dictating and taking personal calls from his wife, was I able to overhear the results, and when I asked him about it, his reply was obviously incorrect and he never bothered to look at the medical records my cardiologist sent. Save yourself the time and money. Dr. Kovacs is too concerned about his wife being on a ferry and not the patient in the room with him ! Dr. Kovacs shows little to no interest in the patient. O went to visit Dr Kovac for an EMG. He refused to give me that test unless I got another very painful test, getting my consent fraudulently by stating that the second test was a necessary adjunct to the EMG. He also insisted that I would need a sonogram. When I asked him why, if I needed all three tests my surgeon only ordered the EMG he said that "she is very new and does not know how we do things". When he learned that I had epilepsy, he literally drooled and actually started to give me an EEG without my consent, without even telling me. When I asked exactly what he was thinking he lied, saying "state law requires epileptics [including ones controlled on medication for over 30 years seizure free] are required to get EEG's every year. Of course I refused the test. His "exam" was a joke. Kovac is a liar and he tries to bill insurance for unnecessary tests. Worst doctor I ever saw.

Unpleasant, most of staff, office manager extremely rude and difficult. MD ,s arrogant with an I am superior " attitude. The office do not answer phone, kept me on hold for 60 minutes and finally we have to drive to the office to get an appointment that should be given by phone. Manager, impossible to deal with. Hangs up the phone when there is a complaint. Some time ago I recommended this practice to patients who called for appointments and had the same treatment so they never went there. There a plenty of Neurologist in Area, with more compassion and education.
Everytime that I visit this office I feel at ease. These people have gained my trust. The entire staff are friendly and loving people.

I recent visit with this doctor was unfortunately atrocious. My issue is a problem is with ethical behavior. In the Dr. Andrews report he puts that he viewed my eeg to be the same as the visit last year when no eeg was performed. The visit was literally 5 minutes long. My issue was he was documenting on my medical records that I'm feigning seizures. I take 3 months of seizure medication. And today's visit 01/21/2019 Dr. Andrew Kovacs documented all a sudden I am feigning seizures. Makes me wonder if I really did have seizures or this was an opportunity for the office to make money. This is dangerous to assign medication to a person that first back in November 2018 says I have epilepsy and abnormal waves. Late November 2018 I requested the eeg results. I never got them. I just received the discharge paper for that visit. When I asked for my medical records, the office rep just provided the discharge paper. I never receive eeg results, lab results, MRI. And I made numerous requests. I asked today for the eeg results so I can have an independent doctor look at them. The front desk staff was himming and hawing. I know how eeg waves results look like (almost like an ekg). I honestly just want all of my medical records including actual test results. I am only provided with the interpretation. In addition the front desk seem like she did not want to purge my record from the system. In summary, I am concerned with medical mal practice and unethical behavior becoming as a doctor. I've been on medication for 3 months only to find out that I may not need them because the doctor says I am feigning seizures. (Obviously, not true). I feel like a lab experiment. The items he document for today was inaccurate because an eeg was never performed. He made erroneous notes. And my issue is this falsehood is becoming a permanent record of my medical history. He medically copied and pasted the last visit for today's visit. It's so sad because supposedly have the lineage of the Messiah (Jesus). He's Jewish just in word not in deed or in his practice. Your all crazy who would ever use the word racist unless they are one.
Dr. Andrew Kovac SHOULD NOT BE PRACTICING MEDICINE, he needs to find a new line of work.I went to this dr. Since he is one of the few neurologists on the AETNA Ins. Plan, all he did was check my knees and legs and had his assistant do a test on my head with a lot of wires. When the test was completed I was told to wait for him in the examining room and all he did was come in and tell me that I had to speak with his secretary. After almost 4 hours I left with nothing, I will never go see him again.
Andrew G. Kovacs is a rasicist! And practices misogyny. And hardly cares for his patients unless they look and sound like him. Would never recommend
The worst doctor I've visited in my life. I took my father and he told me to take him back me because there was not any. I needed to do for the. I looked for a second opinion from another neurologist and my father could not walk because he had a cervical condition that was compromising the spinal cord. Today I had surgery and quality of life. If I do not seek a second opinion, this animal from Dr would have left me on the wheel chair for the rest of his life And the worst was the treatment is a racist and insensate with patients. Professional and honest
The ladies in the front desk are wonderful. Very sympathetic, understanding and kind, very helpful on the phone. As for Dr. Kovacs, my husband had a great experience. My husband had a huge herniated disk on his spine. Dr. Kovacs followed my husband all the way to surgery. He recommended great doctors.
My 1st visit to see Dr. Kovacs was at his office located at Mt. Sinai in Miami. I waited for 1 hour, he spent 15 minutes with me doing a routine exam. He suggested that I make an appointment at his office located in Bay Harbor to rule out certain things. I made the appt. for noon when he would arrive at the office. After 2 hrs, I told the front desk I was leaving. Dr. Kovacs came to the waiting room and didn't understand why I was upset. He is rude with no regards for his patients' time.

Really frustrating meeting - few tests done on an old computer with consultation at $1200- no results given Very arrogant doctor Frustrated because others doc recommended him -
Dr Kovacs has treated me for about 2 years. Identified and then alleviated my medical issues quickly. Very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend. He coincidentally saw me in the E/R and came over to find out what was going on, checked the CT scan, called the neurosurgeon, updated us right away. He was terrific and took a proactive interest in helping me.

Dr. Kovacs is an arrogant doctor who thinks he's God. He has no respect for anyone else's time and his patient care is as dry as his personality. Waited over an hour for an appointment and he sees you for 10 seconds. He just wants to take your insurance money and waste your time. His receptionist is extremely rude as well hiding behind a sliding glass door. Has no respect for patients. I guess Dr. Kovacs is leading by example. Will not be back.
From the minute we entered Dr. Kovacs’s office everything went like clockwork. The office staff could not have been nicer and extremely competent. Dr. Kovacs was through, kind, and did not rush our visit. I am so glad to have him taking care of me. Dr. Kovacs is a true professional!

Dr. Kovacs is arguably one of the very best neurology diagnosticians in the Tri-County region.

Most unpleasant waiting room I've ever been in. So small, cramped and overcrowded, no empty seats for an elderly woman to sit down. Unhappy, unfriendly receptionists hiding behind sliding opaque glass window and there's no way to inform them when you need assistance. No buzzer. You have to stand in front of the closed window for several minutes until they finally open it. Waited in that room more than an hour and 20 mins -- over 80 mins! Avoid this place at all costs. It's a nightmare.
