Dr. Andrew K. Sands

I’d never see this doctor again. He never ordered an MRI for my ankle/feet issues. Just XRays. He made me purchase custom orthotics when my condition did not warrant custom orthotics and of course he had a rep located conveniently located in his office. 425 dollars later come to find out thru the second opinion I sought out from NYU orthopedics that my condition doesn’t even warrant the use of custom insoles. He would just tell me to do warm epsom soak baths (which are useless btw) and go to physical therapy. I would never, ever recommend this guy if you’re looking for an ankle specialist. Run far away and do not see him.

Dr. Sands performed reconstructive surgery on my right foot. The surgery did not go well. Had additional surgery to try and correct the error made with the first surgery but to no avail. Presently I now walk with a limp and require the assistance of a cane. He has terrible bedside manner as does his staff. Run don't walk away from this orthopedic surgeon

Amazing doctor! Saved my leg, foot and ankle after I fell down my steps. He took care of me right away and gave me the best care! His personality and manner is everything; he is Compassionate, kind, listens and thoroughly cares. His staff is top notch too and I can’t say enough good things about Vanessa and Michelle!

I had LisFranc injury in 2003. Dr. Sands reconstructed my right foot and since then I had no issues. I was able to walk for miles, wear shoes with hills and even run . The operation was very complicated. I owe him my life.

Dr Sands is a horror show that never ends. He operated on my foot about ten years ago four times and was unsuccessful each time. Don’t go near him and you’ll be doing yourself a big favor.

Dr. Sands disregarded the issue that brought me to him and recommended a complicated surgery. I had to go to a different doctor who read Dr. Sands report and acknowledged that he had seen similar recommendations from Dr. Sands for other patients.

I wish I had posted the year I had him do reconstructive surgery to my foot. I'm still having problems 7 years later. And, his beside manner was only funny before the surgery. In fact, I remember going about a year later to show him the problems and do you know what he said?? "I can fix them" NEVER excepting responsibility.

Went to Dr. Sands today for some annoying shin pain I've been having. He was very thorough, knowledgable and kind and I really enjoyed meeting him.

Smart, patient, and always willing to spend as much time as I need to get questions answered pertaining to my condition.

I had a serious shoulder problem. Dr. Sands gave me an injection to confirm his diagnosis, explained exactly what he was doing and why, and confirmed a non-surgical diagnosis, to my great relief, and answered my questions on prognosis. He prescribed physical therapy, which provided exactly the result he predicted, and later assisted in dealing with the typical insurance company resistance to approving multiple therapy visits. His follow-up was solid. Overall, a very positive medical experience.

Had complete reconstructive surgery on both feet...RUN RUN RUN AWAY! DONT let him near u in thebOR, my feet are ruined...Can't walk without terrible pain, had 2 separate surgeries to try to correct the damage he inflicted!
