Dr. Anne Holland Johnson

As a lifelong athlete and Ironman triathlete I demand a lot from my feet. Naturally when I experienced foot pain that sidelined me from running I wanted to get back in the game. I went to the top foot and ankle doctors around the country but received many conflicting diagnoses.  I have come to realize that surgery is part science and part art. I have heard surgeons say "tell me where your Doctor trained and I will tell what surgery they perform or the hardware they use. I had two consultations with Dr. Johnson and she immediately cut through all the confusion and was not afraid to tell me which surgeries work and which to avoid. She is an out of the box thinker who is open to consulting with her team and considering all options to get her patients better.   There's an expression that a genius is 10,000 hours and Dr. Johnson has more than 10,000 hours of good experience to back up her work. She has the best credentials that Medicine has to offer and an amazing team behind her at HSS. HSS is a teaching hospital and Dr. Johnson is a team player, she regularly participates in early morning rounds in which she confers on cases with the entire foot and ankle team. She's the epitome of brilliance in the absence of arrogance. I never felt rushed during my consultation. As an elite athlete she was able to not only empathize with my pain but also sympathize as she said out loud what she would do with her foot if she had my problem. She is very conservative about when to advocate for surgery. I have had surgery at HSS and I have found all the Doctors to be extremely dedicated and humble. I feel blessed to have access to the best Doctors in the world. They all deserve a raises!

This Dr is on automatic Doesn’t listen to what’s needed. Her PA is very condescending and spiteful Leaving me waiting hours with an appt A simple arthritic toe now has screws and plate that should have been avoided Only interested in $$ Not one of HSS shining stars

I tried to get a consult with Dr. Johnson. Was told 'she no longer takes Medicare...even patients with a Medicare supplement plan' even tho her website says she takes my insurance. Good luck, Dr. Johnson, serving the under 65 population. Don't let the smiling photo fool you...I guess she only want to serve the wealthy and those with private insurance.

Not impressed Was left not being able to walk Rude PA and no aftercare follow up with doctor

Having surgery with Dr. Johnson is the best decision you can make. Hands down. She is innovative, brilliant, super professional and a game changer in ortho surgery.

The best experience I’ve ever had with a surgeon or Dr. Informative, kind, you don’t leave her office with any questions not answered.

Was fortunate enough to have her do my Ankle fusion at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston when she was there. She was endlessly patient with me as I was trying to avoid another fusion. I finally realized I could not put it off any longer. She is a fabulous surgeon. And a real nice person as well! Do not hesitate to consult with her.

This doctor is extraordinary! After failed surgery from a podiatrist many doctors would not even attempt to fix as my former podiatrist had failed. Dr. Johnson took a chance by graphing bone, replacing loose screws and made me walk again.

Performed surgery on my wife. Dr. Johnson is a superior surgeon. She is correcting 3 prior surgeries that were done by other physicians. DR. Johnson is extremely compassionate and a wonderful person. Now, Dr. Anne Holland Johnson at HSS. Over past 3 yrs, I have encountered many physicians/surgeons at leading NY institutions. These encounters were, for the most part, disappointing UNTIL I met Dr. A. Holly Johnson at HSS. Upon meeting Dr. Johnson, I was pleasantly surprised to find her so 'down to earth’…NOT condescending…actively listened and acknowledged my concerns/issues, and more. Although being the expert in this particular situation, via her demeanor, tone, and dialogue, Dr. Johnson respectfully invited me to be a partner in my care including ankle/foot surgery for severed ligaments, ruptured tendon, etc.. Dr. Johnson conversed with me as an intelligent adult explaining what /why she could/could not accommodate [of my concerns/issues] with the goal being to ensure a safe surgery. I am extremely pleased, not only, with the outcome of the surgery done by Dr. Johnson but of her care/interactions with me. Thank you Dr. Johnson for being the best orthopedic surgeon and person.

I was fortunate enough to have Dr Johnson oversee my care in Boston. Because of her I can walk pain free and have resumed my exercise routine. Because of Dr Johnson I enjoy walking again and reach my FitBit step goal everyday. I would recommend her to anyone!

As a nurse practitioner and nurse for 42 years, I have met several physicians. The are good ones, mediocre one and some bad ones. Then there a the few magnificent ones and Dr. Holly Johnson falls into that class of specialist. I needed 2 separate surgeries and both went without incident . She is caring ,empathetic and kind.

Need a talar dome transplant. I just need to know who does them so I can meet them. Insurance rep said make appt w/ ANYONE...they help me from there. Well picked the wrong doctor I guess cause I didn't get a referral nor any names. She wants to fuse my ankles instead for loss of movement which is totally unnecessary. She did mentioned resurfacing but that talus has been dead a good 10 years now. I give up now. Just going to live my life as a cripple unable to walk w/out PAIN4morethan10MIN

Long wait time but well worth it. She's honest and takes the time with each patient to explain the medical issue and solution. Excellent surgical result!

this is an excellent doctor and individual she is extremely competent and very her knowledge gives a patient confidence to have her take care of you..this physician is what i as a patient looks for when you have a problem..she is an excellent surgeon as i can attest to....very personable and most important very empathetic...i strongly endorse this doctor.

Plan on staying in the waiting area for a minimum of 2 hours, overbooks all appointments. Terrible surgeon has no idea what she is doing. If you fall in her trap all she will do is recommend more surgery. I finally separated from her grasp still in pain but now seeing a competent surgeon......stay away!!
