Dr. Anne H Norris

Note: Reposted from April, 2019. (I went back to update this google review regarding my case and it was gone. I did not remove it. I have reposted it here.) At first I did not review this doctor because I was unsure how I felt about doing so. It is now month’s later and I feel it only appropriate to write a review to save someone else time, effort and sanity. I was told I had Lyme Disease by a Lyme Literate and then told I do not have Lyme Disease by this doctor. I have suffered with various ailments for over a decade some of which have caused mental health issues including anorexia and food intolerances. I have been so frustrated by the lack of assistance I’ve received from medical professionals. I spent a great deal of time requesting and composing the entirety of my medical records in a binder. I was mocked by this doctor for doing this. She implied I was suffering from psychiatric issues none related to Lyme Disease. I found her bedside manor to be appalling when she squeezed my skin on top of my liver and said out loud that it was easy to find in “these slender girls”. Further testing for any disease was not offered although symptoms presented were plentiful at the time of the office visit. I brought both my mom and sister to my appointment with me for support. We all found her to be bias. She based my situation on her son who is bipolar. This method of treatment was unprofessional and opinionated. Her words and advice have only caused further damage. I left the appointment in tears and hyperventilating. If my mom and sister were not with me for the appointment I could have walked out of that appointment into serious danger. The referrals provided at the appointment were to the wrong department. This doctor did not do blood work and did not express my symptoms could have been caused by (any) other diseases. I’ve sought professional help since and I’m being treated elsewhere. Regardless of your illness I highly suggest seeking assistance elsewhere. Since my appointment with her I have been diagnosed with two infectious diseases (one is a co-infection of lyme). I had a lymph node dissection in my left groin. See timeline below. Note Added (Update) 5/13/2021: November 2021, Lymph Node Biopsy 3”dissection (they took the whole thing out) results: Rare Coagulase Negative Staphylococcus Sp. , No T or B Cancerous Cells, Pathology Positive for Bartonella Henselae. Note Added (Update) 01/27/2021: August 2021 - Pathology positive for Progressive Disseminated Histoplasmosis. I was advised by my current doctor that my diagnosis was “missed”. I have severe permanent damage but I consider myself lucky to be alive and fortunate to be able to think for myself. I have a BAAS and I am pursuing a PhD. Note Added (Update) 01/27/2021: August 2021 - Diagnosis- Progressive Disseminated Histoplasmosis - I am on anti fungal treatment for one year. Nearly all of my symptoms have been resolved through antibiotics and anti-fungal prescription drugs in addition to alternative therapies. I was advised by my current doctor that my diagnosis was “missed”. Unfortunately it has caused permanent damage but I consider myself lucky to be alive and fortunate to be able to think for myself.

I found her to be not only rude but almost arrogant. She had as much compassion as my shoe. Do not go to her if you have chronic lymes diease. She cant even think outside the box. She has her mind made up before you even enter her office...she just wants to bill the insurance company and collect your co pay. My motto use to be . THEY DONT FAIL AT PENN MEDICINE...NOW ITS THEY DONT CARE ...not this doctor anyways..she also told me she would be in touch with some phone numbers and names of doctors that could help with some of the issues....that was over 4 months ago She still never sent me the info......slacker or washed up or both? She is very pretentious. Full of herself.

Was called the day prior to my appointment and told she had reviewed my records and “there was nothing further she can do.” Another infectious disease doctor that refuses to accept the truth about Chronic Lyme Disease. Dr. Helen Koenig is no better. If anyone is suffering from Persistent Lyme stay as far away from Penn as you can. Absolute joke. Dr. Norris was very thorough in her examination and devoted the necessary time to go over all my symptoms, medical history, and questions. She had a very friendly demeanor and gave very complete explanations for where I was at, the recommended course of treatments and the expected results. I highly recommend Dr. Norris.

Dr. Norris is very knowledgeable on Lyme Disease and I highly recommend you make an appointment with her if you think you have the disease. She is one of the best in the Philadelphia metro area and will be able to help you. She will also be able to 100% rule Lyme disease out if that is not what is wrong with you. When you visit Dr. Norris you will not waste time treating the symptoms and not the real cause of your problems. I highly recommend Dr. Norris. After seeing many specialists, I found Dr. Norris to be one of the more careful and thoughtful physicians I have encountered. She spent a great deal of time listening and reviewing test results with me. While she didn't have 'the answer' to what my issue is, she clearly stated what it likely 'isn't' and gave clear suggestions for next steps. She struck me as both caring and experienced. I highly recommend her for infectious disease issues. After seeing many specialists, I found Dr. Norris to be one of the more careful and thoughtful physicians I have encountered.
