Reviews for Anthony Louis Gallo JR.
He's abrasive, unaware of current psychiatric meds, refuses to listen to your insight, and judgemental. He will spend five minutes MAX With you and charge your insurance hundreds! Avoid Avoid! Avoid! He has an average of 2.5 rating online!!!!!
He is remarkably judgemental, sends scripts to the wrong pharmacy, spends less than five minutes with you, yells, and does not tell you the side effects (which are significant) of starting or discontinuing a medication. I spent weeks with withdrawal symptoms and he never followed up!
January 5th, 2022 I was not a fan of his in the 6 months of being his patient to begin with and was actively looking for a new doctor while being in his care. Advice he gave me was extremely questionable and unprofessional. I asked, family, good friends and other Doctors about concerned advice he gave me and not ONE person could understand why a Dr in his profession would give such an outrageous and concerning advice he gave to me. Secondly, he knew nothing about me nor did he even care to ask me questions about me or my life as a whole. Telehealth visits last anywhere from 5-8 minutes and that was it! Most times he was either yawning or rubbing his face as if he was trying to wake up. I was lucky enough to find another Dr and not a moment too soon. This was the straw that broke the camels back. Dr. Gallo called into my pharmacy and gave the wrong dosage and I didn’t realize it until I got the medicine home. I wasn’t angry and actually I was in a great mood but, did call the office to
As others have noted, Dr Gallo is condescending, abrupt and tries to end the session in 5-8 mins. He offered no guidance when I asked him what he recommends--in fact, he would ask what I thought he should recommend instead of laying out some options. I never felt any genuine interest from him in really rolling up our sleeves to make progress on my issue. I've never met a dr who doesn't at least fake interest. Instead he uses a very calm condescending voice and seems uninterested in helping. Avoid this Dr. I actually think that he could potentially make things worse for a very vulnerable patient in distress.
Always gets back to you if you message him. He is very helpful. Edit: I have stopped visiting with him due to the difference in opinion on something to do with meds but he's still a nice guy!
Just had my first appointment with Dr. Gallo and I couldn’t be any happier! He was kind, listened and was HONEST. I appreciated the honesty he gave and the compassion he showed while delivering the message even through a video. Thank you Dr Gallo, wish there were more doctors out there like you!
I have been with Dr Gallo for many years now. He has always been kind and understanding to me, even at some of my lowest points! He is always available for you. You message him and you get a response back within minutes! You can’t find that anywhere these days. He is always helpful with changing my medication, even though I probably drive him crazy with my back and fourth messages. He is understanding when I need to travel, with making sure I have everything I need!! I have recommended many family and friends to him. Thanks Dr Gallo for always being there! Catherine Beauregard
Wow and I thought I was alone. Your rude, unprofessional, and ignorant to everyone. Never ever had a Doctor like you. After your last threat of why donât I find another Doctor I figured I would jump ship like the rest of your targets. Time to find a new profession this is to stressful for you to handle and for me to deal with. You do get paid for your services or did you forget. I had to put a star or could not send and it wouldnât take the minus.
Dr.Gallo is the best he is always available, responds back promptly and truly cares. No doctor can work miracles however he is truly the best I’ve seen after working with several in this field.
I absolutely disagree with the last write up. My wife is not that type of patient. She’s a happy go lucky kind of woman. This Dr gave some inappropriate suggestions to solve a problem. Indeed he listened to her and helped switched her medications that work, but my wife never really cared for him. Leaving him was her best options after only being a patient for 6 months. I have just had an awful experience with this doctor and would like to point out an important fact if you are looking for someone to help you when you are desperate. One, this is not the place to look and two, at the top of this page you will see 'Kareo" and a rating of 5/5 for this doctor. After my one and only appointment, I received a survey questionnaire from Kareo and was extremely honest in my one star rating. I also noticed that at the top of the survey there was a statement that said my review MAY be posted publicly on Kareo. Your review is posted at the doctor's discretion! Please do your research on this and other sites before scheduling any appointment with him. Dr Gallo was amazing while at Life Span ...Positive,compassionate, really listened..Then I stopped breathing during an ECT he performed was in ICU for 3 days on incubator to breathe soon after he left Lifespan to start practice from home Tele appointments..He was a different person...Short, Rude, worried about finishing with in 7 minutes to go on to next Patient ..not listening just pushing Seroquel and Mirtazipine and getting off the phone ...I was shocked and disappointed and stop talking just telling him refills and getting off phone .. Really great at working with your work schedule and understanding if you travel for work in regards to your medications and understanding of rescheduling appointments.
After reading a couple bad reviews on here, I’ve come to the conclusion that those patients were most likely not told by Dr. Gallo what they wanted to hear. Being a psychiatrist, I’m sure Dr. Gallo comes across an unhappy customer every once in awhile. The population he serves can be difficult, unhappy, and generally unstable. So don’t let those deter you. I can tell you my experience with Dr. Gallo is always a pleasant one. He listens to me and he cares about my well-being. He lets me drive the important decisions about my care while supporting my choices and never forces anything on me. He is pretty soft spoken and just a really kind man overall. When I send him a message through the patient portal, he responds within minutes. MINUTES! And will make an appointment the same day if needed. I’ve spent countless hours over my lifetime of waiting for doctors to call me back after speaking to 20 different receptionist and that’s not what you get with dr Gallo. You message him directly and it’s him responding, not an office secretary. He’s perceptive, knowledgeable, and compassionate. I’ve recommended him to many people and will continue to do so! I saw Dr. Gallo a while ago and just want to leave a few words of caution to other potential patients. Dr. Gallo is a very cold, egotistical person to deal with. Everything about this guy is off. First off he will sit with his back to you and type on his computer while talking to you. Second, he minimizes your thoughts and feelings. Why do you ask? Well, because he is far superior to you that is why! Third, he gives false information about medications and their withdrawal side effects. What do I mean? He discounts medically factual information from not only the patient going through the withdrawal but also major studies from places like Harvard to name only one of many. Yes, he will look you in the eye and in a condescending way tell you that you're full of Sh!% for thinking these things. He is not right in his head so there is no way he will be able to help you with yours. A little fun fact about the Dr.? He specializes in EST commonly known as Electro-Shock Therapy. That's just the icing on the cake! Stay away from this man at all costs!!
He's always late for appointments that last less than 5 minutes. Disinterested and dismissive. Rude office staff. Last time he was late again and I had to answer an important work call. Then I left messages since they didn't pick up. They're trying to bill me $125 for a missed appointment that HE missed. Don't go here.

prescribed me a bunch of antidepressants with terrible side effects and then i miss one virtual therapy appointment and im dropped. why ? i was counting on you
I’ve been in treatment for mental health issues all my 45 years of life. When I was blessed with Dr. Gallo becoming my provider I started to slowly change. He is very caring and is not a pill pusher. Dr. Gallo treats all aspects of my life. It’s not only about medication. Nathan N.
A feeling of Hope!! 45 years living ADHD and finally the diagnosis I have expected. What I really respected from Dr. Gallo, was his professionalism, direct attitude, made me feel that he was invested in my diagnosis, which made me even happier. I was referred to Anthony Gallo in December 2020. I called the receptionist was very nice and helpful. I asked if there was any way possible to get an earlier appointment if there were any cancellations. She called back an hour later and got me an appointment in 3 days later. I have been with Doctor Gallo for around a year. He is great at what he does and is extremely responsive. My last Doctor would leave me in a waiting room for hours.. If you want someone that actually cares about their patients go to Doctor Gallo.

Dr Gallo is one of the best doctors I’ve had in my life. Listens, understands, caring, helps to give life coping skills. Also in emergencies he is always there. Thank you Dr Gallo
Terrible. This man is condescending and absolutely rude. Every sentence is, “if you’re telling me the truth” what a terrible thing to say to a patient. He asked me if my son was mine...? What an awful question. Meaning, did I carry him. Stay away this guy should not have a license. I will be reporting him. I could barely stay on the phone with him. His personality is awful. Read the reviews, most people dislike this doctor, if that’s what you want to call him.
Sadly, I do not recommend Dr. Gallo. He does not listen well, minimizes your feelings/experience and is condescending. His appointments are very quick. He doesn't ask many questions and seems to be annoyed when you ask him questions. I think I deserve more as a patient.

His rude, impatient demeanor was immediately off-putting because I needed time to parse out the complexities of my situation. He would have none of this. He complained about not feeling well that day, which combined with his curtness made it seem like he didn’t want to be talking to me. He was rude, dismissive, seemingly uncaring, and negligent. I felt dizzy and nauseated from the interaction. Given that he knew my intake information, I felt that the way I was treated was completely insensitive to my needs. This behavior of his was intimidating, which interfered with my communication(this is a trauma issue I have), which in turn led to my being hastily dismissed. I had no idea what I was walking into. He also cut the appointment off at 20 minutes, revoking 40 other minutes I could have used to try to explain why I was there. Maybe there’s a silver lining there, in that I didn’t have to talk to a person with such an awful attitude anymore. Please avoid at all costs
Horrible medical treatment plans. Constantly interrupts when the patient is speaking. He wants a "one size fits all" type of patient. Individuals with variations of mental health issues are out of luck when looking for a different approach than what he has in mind. Unless you're a typical text book patient, you get sub standard treatment
DO NOT TRUST YOUR HEALTHCARE TO THIS MAN, HE WILL NOT LISTEN AND IN THE CASE OF MENTAL HEALTHCARE THIS IS DANGEROUS. I agree with the previous reviewers, Dr. Gallo is cold and dismissive. Saw him for depression/anxiety and substance abuse, he tried to convince me I was not suffering from depression. I followed his advice, checked into a treatment center, and journaled extensively about how depression has affected me from my youth (noted each traumatic incident so he would be able to understand) and offered to share this with him so he could understand self medication as a symptom of depression. He was not interested in seeing the journaling and described my case as “complicated”. SORRY DR GALLO THAT I SOUGHT TREATMENT FROM YOU FOR A REAL ISSUE THAT REQUIRES REAL EXPERTISE TO SOLVE. YOU VICTIMIZED ME THROUGH YOUR CARE AND OTHERS NEED TO KNOW THIS IS HOW YOU PRACTICE.

Had me rearrange my schedule last minute because he had an opening. Rushed to fill out all the paperwork. Then of course he sends the video invite to my cell phone when I told him I would be using a commuter (he should have emailed it). Then he just calls to say he can't treat me because I didn't fill out all the medications I've ever been on and just included what I do take each day. Its a long list! If you miss an appointment its 150$ but my time is worth nothing.

Dr. Gallo is the best Dr I have ever had. He is always there for you and gives great advise.
Dr. Gallo saved my daughter’s life. After years of fairly ineffective therapies for depression including medications, therapy, partial hospitalization and psychiatric care, she was referred to Dr. Gallo for treatment at Rhode Island Hospital. There he had established a very efficient and successful outpatient ECT practice. ECT is very challenging, but Dr. Gallo was reassuring and confident. His assembled team of anesthesia providers and nurses were empathetic, skilled and effective. Expectations and outcomes were clearly explained and delineated. Under the direction of Dr. Gallo, my daughter improved tremendously. His treatments eliminated her symptoms. She feels well and the reward of a child’s good health is beyond words for a parent. His friendly demeanor helped comfort our family during a challenging time. We will always be grateful. PM
Dr. Gallo has been providing ECT for my major depressive disorder since July 2018. His successful treatments have eliminated my symptoms and I have never felt better. He has shown compassion, concern and his friendly demeanor have helped comfort me and my mother during this difficult time. Sincerely, LAM

Dr. Gallo is such a pleasure to meet with. He has great respect for your time and more importantly, your overall well being. He is very sincere and talks you through ideas and concepts, helping you draw your own conclusions regarding your mental health and wellness decisions. He includes you in his process to help yourself. I of course defer to him for final decision! :) Highly Recommended. Dr. Gallo is such a pleasure to meet with. WHY IS THIS DOCTOR STILL PRACTICING? If I could give him zero stars I would!! People, please heed my advise and stay away!
Absolutely unbelievable. I cannot believe this man is a doctor. He was cold and dismissive. I shared with him a recent suicide attempt and when I didn't agree with him the I needed to be hospitalized he pointed to the door and told me "it doesn't seem like I want to be cured" so I could leave and then turned around and let me walk out.

I URGE YOU TO STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS "DOCTOR". I had my first appointment with Dr. Gallo and it was the worst experience I have ever had. He told me that the only way to get over my anxiety was to just deal with it. He did not ask any questions about how I was feeling. I told him that I disagreed with his suggestion and he quickly prescribed meds just so he could end our session. I was in his office for less than 7 minutes. He is untrustworthy and does not listen to his patients. Simply awful.

Terrible. He was spent little time with me and didn't allow me to speak openly. Not shocking my diagnosis and medications ended up being completely off. I would not recommend seeing this doctor unless you are interested in getting belittled and ripped off.
Doctor Gallo is a terrible psychiatrist. He refused to listen to me. He pressured me into treatments I felt uncomfortable with while I was under his care in an inpatient setting. If I made any protest he became very defensive and dismissive, even sometimes resorting to thinly veiled threats about how he wouldn't discharge me unless I agreed with him. Being under Dr. Gallo's care was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. I came away much more distrustful and upset than when I met him.
