Been coming here forever. The 2 dr.s I see are extremely nice and professional. All the staff are
excellent visit
I took my mother here. The appointment was at 11:30. We arrived at 11 to do paperwork. It is now 1:17 and we just got called back to the room. After talking to other patients, 3 of us had 11:30 appointments. Luckily one walked out after waiting an hour or it would have been longer . Update: the Dr arrives at 1:25. We move to the xray and bloodwork waiting area. At 2:36, we are finished. How is any of this acceptable? Mom said that after dropping the lab paperwork into the bin, it was her turn but they grabbed someone else's ----Over four hours for this appointment---- We try to be understanding but this is ridiculous. Negative 5 stars if I could!! Worst practice I have ever experienced. Not only wrong diagnosis but also rude staff and a provider that doesn’t respect your time. I have waited anywhere between 1-2 hours to see him at every single visit. The last time I went I got lost and GPS directed me to another office in Morristown. I was 12 minutes late and after having me sit in the office for 30 minutes, refused to see me because I was 12 minutes late. This was the first time that I had ever been late and things do happen sometimes that we can’t help, that is life. I totally understand that schedules need to be kept as close as possible but there does need to be some understanding there. Especially if the patient has a good history. The office wasn’t even ready and even if I had made it early, they wouldn’t have been ready for me and I would have had to wait my typical hour or so to be seen. I will never be back nor will I ever go to a healthstar affiliate. Horrible facility! Do your research and go somewhere else! I have my own healthcare practice and would never treat my patients like I was treated at Dr. Kouser’s office. Disgusting! Negative 5 stars if I could!! Worst practice I have ever experienced. Hope pain rheumatoid arthritis good Dr
I have saw Dr kouser more than once I feel he wonderful dr.he explains everything and searches what feels needs to or get help if nothing he can do .staff is very friendly and its very clean
From Day 1 I have loved this place. Dr. Kouser and Annette Waddell are so incredible, they are always patient and they listen to what I have to say as for my well-being, I never feel rushed! I appreciate all the staff showing that they care about me.
I just went for my first appointment with Hina Kouser. She was the most thorough doctor I have seen as of late. I have not had insurance in quite awhile and my mother has lupus which I am having very serious symptoms of, she addressed each one and ran numerous tests and xrays to address each issue and get the proper referrals and quickly. I am so glad there is both neurology and rheumatology in the same office as my primary care, as I will need to see both (especially with the lack of those specialists in this area and ones that accept my insurance) Every nurse/ lab tech/ X-ray tech/ receptionist has been very very kind and caring and accommodating. Wait times are a little long but I’ve seen worse and sort of expected it. It is only the first appointment, but so far so good! I just went for my first appointment with Hina Kouser. Dr.Kouser is by far one of the BEST Dr.'s that I have ever been to.He is so thorough and he stops to explain what he is saying.I have been blessed to find him. After being to 2 different doctors he found what was bothering me and has started a regiment of medications to help.He also found something that my regular Dr should have seen but didn't and he is treating me for that.He is just an AWESOME Dr.
Dr. Aqueel Kouser is a brilliant, caring doctor. He listens well, and explains your systems in an easy-to-understand way. I do recommend him highly!
I visited the office twice. The first visit was great. The staff were courteous and really really nice!!! Dr. Kouser was very nice and explained they would be doing testing to find out what might be wrong. The second visit was quite the opposite. I ran 7 min late and attempted to call before to notify them. I sat on hold for 5 min so I hang up since I was almost there. Upon arrival, I explained that I was a few min late but attempted to call first. I wasn't sure of their late procedures. The lady at the reception desk tells me that she has to call Dr. Kouser to check if he could see me. She then stated that Dr. Kouser didn't see patients if they are 10 min or more late. Frusterated, I showed the lady my phone stating that I was only 7 min late. Once confirmed Dr. Kouser could see me, I was greeted very nicely. Initially, the visit went well. Once my spouse explained that my job was quite physical, he barked at me telling me I had to quit my job. I needed to find a new one. I know I am sick, but I have bills to pay. A doctor is supposed to treat the patient not bark orders at them. Once the visit was finished, I was sent for more odd testing with ZERO explation of what the tests were for or why. I do not recommend.
I was in so much pain in my entire body, just miserable.. my mother had R.A. .my 33 yr old son was diagnosed with A.S. Ankylosing Spondlytis.. a very crippling disease. Hes on disability.. so i figured a had inherited my mothers ra.. he gave me 1 10 mg hydrocodone and told me to cut it in half take half in the am and half in the pm.. that was a joke. My own pcp told me that was nothing but a slap in the face! Yes he did blood work n xrAys.. and sure enough i do have arthritis and fibro.. he could care less about me the staff upfront are very rude!!Truly.. i dumped him immediately..not k owing there are only 3 board certified rheumatologist in east Tn. I am scheduled to see a rheumatologist in knoxville.. i have lupus now, they take very few new patients, but if you have records proving whats wrong with you or severe ra, they willll put u on a list and they will get u in but it takes months.. its 7-3-19.. my appt isnt till Oct.. but i have been told they are fantastic.. so i am relieved! Rheumatology consultants.. look them up! I would not take my dog to kouser.. he tried to get me to see his wife about sleep apnea.. theres nothing wrong with my sleeping except for the pain.. they are both man n wife team and its all about the money.. that is my sincere reference to this dr.. if anyone says hes great!! They were paid to say it, thats my humble opinion..this was before the laws on opioids had changed..he could have treated me better and with more pain meds but refused! I even begged for the shot called embrel?? Spelling?? Its for ra.. nope..the good lord will call me home before i ever go back to him..to those of you in severe pain over ra, i pray for you.. i know its misery.. Worst care ever!!!! I’ve been a patient since 2011 and at first I just listened and did as I was told, I have lupus, RA, fibromyalgia ect, over the years my health has gotten worse and the meds, I had several they put me on with side effects, well, even after my speciality pharmacy told me to stop taking the meds and contact dr, I was told again, to contact my primary care dr! Why??? Why would I call my primary for a Med that my specialist prescribed. This has been happening Over the last two years, questions are never answered and you are rushed in and out. Yes I get state insurance but that doesn’t mean the care should be substandard. The staff itself are nice but the drs, they need some bed side training and need to learn to listen to their patients. They don’t care and I had heard this from several friends and just sitting in the waiting room for labs I’d hear new patients talking and saying their questions weren’t answered. I have filed a grievance and I hope that if you go here, you do research because they don’t care and they won’t help. It’s money to them. If You live in Knoxville, they now have rheumatologist that take tencare. Their is a waiting list, but honestly I was wasn’t getting treated there so I’ll wait for a doctor that I’ve heard is very good at UT. Save yourself the time and your health! Not worth the time, drive or visit!!! Worst care ever!!!! Firstly I must advise this is the patients husband not the patient herself as typing for her is rather painful, as are most tasks which is the point of this review. Dr. Kouser has been treating my wife for quite a while and has diagnosed her with severe RA with an extremely high VectraD score. During his treatment of my wife he did have her on a moderate dose of opioids monthly (2 ten milligram hydrocodone daily) which did not relieve all the pain but gave her the ability to move around without her prescribed walker. We were then told his clinic was cutting down the pain medicine and he was only keeping a few of his patients on them due to new laws (which I will address shortly as this is a poor excuse given the facts obtained from the state laws) and she would have to find alternatives to prescribe her medicine. Ok, whatever she had a month to get it done however no pain clinics are accepting her insurance thus leaving her in pain due to not being able to afford well over 400 a visit plus cost of medication, not feasible for someone crippled by pain and out of work. So what he did was effectively medically torture to save him some paperwork and/or scrutiny from the state due to the new laws. So lets take a look at those laws. They were passed in July however do not go into mandate until January 2019. What that means is in the last 2 months of my wife hurting and trying to find alternative Dr's her pain could have been legally treated without recourse on his practice, meaning more time for her. But then I took a deep dive into the law and found out her medical conditions EXEMPT her from those new laws due to prior and future treatments and diagnosis. The way the law is written any chronic pain patient that has been treated for more than 90 days and/or will continue treatment for more than 90 days are exempt from the new laws to ensure the proper patients retain their prescriptions. So in my opinion he left my wife on massive doses of chemo and in extreme pain simply to protect his own tail in a case where it was completely unneeded. This in my opinion amounts to medical torture. When my wife did contact their office to express the fact she is in a great deal of pain and that in combination with her remaining prescriptions of chemo and Humara (which fyi costs 6000 a month for 2 injections) and was met with short non sympathetic replies which did nothing to help her mobility or pain. If he feels he cannot uphold the Hippocratic Oath while remaining within the confines of the state laws maybe he should stop practicing since he obviously seems more intent on serving himself and his situations than dealing legally with his patients conditions. We are talking about a woman who has been on chemo for years, is only able to move around with a walker, has 0 criminal record, and was a respected LPN Home Health nurse to kids on ventilators. We are by no means a deplorable family with a history, we are patients on the brink. He doesnt have to watch her cry because of pain he could be treating, he doesnt have to watch her fall on her knees while vomiting due to the other medications he has her on in combination with the pain making it impossible for her to hold herself above the toilet, and he doesnt seem to care either. His office is about an hour and a half from us yet is the only specialist for RA in driving distance so our options beyond him are non-existent. My wife remains a patient of his reluctantly however I am looking at legal repercussions since having found out my wife would be exempt. What he has done has drastically decreased her value of life and made things turbulent for our entire family. Avoid this man at all costs unless you have no other options, then only see him long enough to get treatment while you look for another Dr who is less concerned about his bottom line and more concerned with the patients quality of living. Was diagnosed with Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis ,low vitamin D and Thyroid's. Not happy with non of these .Am on three different medicine. The pain is still there.I have my day's but keep going. Dr.Kaiser is great. He explained what to do and what to expect.
Does great job scheduling appointments, never have to wait long.
I like how thorough Dr. Kouser is. He looks at you and your problems as a whole picture and puts it all together. I feel so much better both physically and emotionally; like finally somebody really cares! Then there’s Annette Waddell his assistant, she sees you every other time and chats mostly, checks up, makes sure all is going well. Between the two I really feel important and cared for. I Thank God for him..I really do..He is MY Angel..:-) If you need a good Rheumatologist Doctor Than I recommend Dr. Kouser to you. He will find the problem...you will see What I mean? :-)
I think Dr. Kouser is a vary caring physician and tries his best to help his patients. He has been very good to me and I would recommend him to anyone.
He is an excellent, caring dr. I have a rare genetic syndrome and he has gone out of his way to help me!!
Great Dr. to have in your corner if you have serious sleep problems. It's hard to find a Doc. that actually listens to their patients before any diagnosis is made. Even better as a Disabled Veteran I recently discovered that the Doc is V.A. / Tri West approved for the outsourcing of Veterans. A huge plus for local Veterans. I personally have only had disagreements w/ 1 front office staff member. Janicka, especially Tina, and the woman who checks you in are excellent and so is His Nursing staff
He misdiagnosed my husband with MS and wanted to start him on strong IV meds immediately. We got a second opinion in Knoxville and he DID NOT have MS. Dr. Kouser told my niece she had MS (she did not). He misdiagnosed my friend Jennifer's father. He misdiagnosed two of my friends with MS. I reported him to state board but they did not do anything. He performed a spinal tap on my husband for no reason to check for disease he did not have.

I sent a message via Healthstars messaging system to Dr Kouser's office asking for my Mothers appointment be moved up as she was suffering with severe artheric back pain. She is 82 years old. Next day I got a response that said "ok will do." Following day no follow up response from Dr Kouser. Sent another message complaining of lack of response for earlier message. Received follow up message from Doctors staff asking which day and time would be best. Thought everything was resolved. Then I got a very rude message from a different staff person telling me I needed to read their nesssges more closely as they had clearly told me "ok will do." implying I need not send follow up messages as they would get around to answering when they felt like it and they were much to important to be bothered. I think he is a very good and caring doctor. Frances M. Turley
He is a very caring doctor, very friendly, and will try to help anyone. I like him as a person as well as a doctor. He very much will treat you with kindness respect and will do all tests to best determine what your problem is. I would not recommend any other rheumatologist as highly as him.
Dr Kouser and his staff have always been friendly and very helpful. He and his nurse assistant has helped me get ahold on my RA and other problems and have answered all of my questions. And have a portal you can email dr kouser if you have a problem. He will email you back that same day with a solution. Yes they take a lot of blood but that is nessassary to get a proper diganosis. I really recommend Dr Kouser he is a very good doctor
Dr Kouser was able to determine which autoimmune disorders I have (Sjogren's Syndrome & polymyositis) when, for the last 16 yrs, I kept getting the run-around. His treatment has made a big improvement on my quality of life.
He's one guy I'd befriend if it were not for the patient/doctor relationship. While the mechanics of his medical practice is factory-like, his one-on-one time with me has been warm and has shown his real concern. I'm happy that he's the only rheumatologist in the area.
