Arlene Christie Almazan

I have had MANY years of visits with Dr. Almazan and she has been amazing! She is to the point, honest, interested in what you think, supportive of the things that are important to you of which create a positive impact on your life and she always surprises me by remembering things about my life which makes me feel her attentiveness to my life's story. I am lucky to be able to have her as a doctor here in Maine with the shortage of these doctors.

Sometimes complaints concerning Psychiatrists stem from dissatisfaction with the mental health system in general, which is in very sad shape in Maine. Many people do not realize that it's not unusual for doctors to have literally hundreds of patients. I would imagine that it's a superhuman task and responsibility to look after the well-being of so many patients. Dr. Almazan has done right by us, and though it took some time to warm up each other, we've found her to be a very caring doctor.

I understand that there are problems with addicts who abuse prescription medication. Dr Almazan is aware of this too, and treats every patient as though they're criminals fresh out of rehab, itching to get their next fix. I see Dr. Almazan for a prescription to help with depression. I have never abused substances, and my medication is not a narcotic. Nevertheless, she insists seeing me every 2 weeks, even though I don't have transportation. (I'd write more, but space ran out.)
