Reviews for Asheesh Gupta
I recently had surgery on my left hip, after having surgery on my right hip in 2020. Both surgeries were a success. I experienced very little pain on both occasions. Dr. Gupta was very professional and caring. I highly recommend him if you have hip problems.
I was referred to Dr. Gupta for my hip from another doctor I was seeing in the practice for pain management. In our first meeting, he assessed I needed a full hip replacement. He took the time to explain everything to me, which put me at ease, and his entire team were patient and very kind. My surgery went smoothly, and my recovery was easy. Dr. Gupta's team stayed in touch with me when I got home to make sure I was doing ok. I am very pleased with my experience and would highly recommend Dr. Gupta.
I had been experiencing right hip pain for quite a while. I had difficulty walking, getting comfortable while sleeping and it was really impacting my job. Dr. Gupta was recommended to me by a colleague. His office was a 70 mile drive from my home, but I have to say I would have driven twice as far for the level of care and service I received. Everyone that I interacted with from reception to the nurses to the pre-op department was professional and genuine. Dr. Gupta took the time to explain everything about my injury and I did not feel rushed through any appointment. This was my first surgery and I could not have been happier with the results. If I ever need my left hip worked on, I will definitely be going back to Dr. Gupta!
really great doctor and surgeon, super friendly and helpful throughout the entire process!
Dr. Gupta and his staff were extremely professional in all aspects of the pre-surgery, surgery and post-surgery process. His personal attention to my concerns along with his staff supporting, should make anyone contemplating hip surgery, very comfortable with his practice.
I highly recommend Dr. Gupta! He is attentive, knowledgeable, and thorough. So thankful I saw him for a second opinion as he found something the first surgeon completely missed. Office and surgery center staff were fantastic as well.
His team has been great I went in for a labrum tear the surgery was quick and I didn’t feel any pain the day after the surgery and the soreness went away with in three days all together a great job highly recommended!

Dr. Gupta completed a hip replacement surgery for me...walked out of the hospital 5 hours after scheduled surgery. Used a cane for a couple week and am now completely without pain. After living with pain for several years, I was foolish to have waited. I highly recommend Dr. Gupta and The Centers for Advanced Orthopedics and couldn't be happier with the results. Dr. Gupta performed my full hip replacement due to a sports injury that let to severe arthritis in the joint. I fell down the stairs and had a bad labral tear in my right hip. I was in severe pain for over a year. One doctor I went to just blew me off and didn't believe I could have that pain. I got a second opinion with Dr. GUPTA! I'm so glad i did! He's an easy person to talk to and listened to me well. He diagnosed me quickly and scheduled surgery right then. Now I'm 2 months out after surgery AND IT IS SUCH A RELIEF!!! I HAVE NO PAIN NOW!! Whereas I couldn't even get up stairs before surgery, it was hurting so bad, now I can walk easily! He literally fixed me. Additionally, I was really worried about pain from surgery and rehab, but I literally HAD NO PAIN AFTER SURGERY... When I came to, it didnt even hurt at all. I had no pain from surgery or during recovery. I was amazed. I don't know if thats normally the case for his patients, but it was true for me and I was so thankful. Dr. Gupta is a total blessing. I don't know what I would have done without him. He's very professional, yet friendly. He has a great bedside manner. He seems to be a generally happy, very capable petson. Back in 2019 the military attempted a labral tear repair in my hip. Unfortunately, the surgery failed and caused much more pain. A friend referred me to the Centers for Advanced Orthopedics, where I meet Dr. Gupta. During the surgery it was determined that the damage was extensive and that it required a reconstruction instead of another repair. Here I am, three months post-op, and the hip feels the best it has in many years. I still have some recovery to do but I am getting back into my old routine with little to no pain. I also highly recommend their Woodbridge physical therapy office. Amazing professionals all around. Back in 2019 the military attempted a labral tear repair in my hip. I have had an excellent experience with Dr. Gupta - actually had two scoped knee surgeries in the past 10 months and have completely recovered. Very proactive. Excellent bedside manner as well. Highly recommend!
A little over four years ago, I began experiencing abnormal popping and extremely achy groin pain around my left hip. After a few weeks of physical therapy and no noticeable results, I decided to see Dr. Gupta, who discovered a small tear in my labrum caused by an impingement in my hip. He suggested a minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery to address the tear and reshape my hip socket (in order to avoid a repeat tear later in life). I elected to do the surgery and Dr. Gupta did not disappoint. The surgery was (almost) painless, recovery was a breeze, and four years later my left hip feels absolutely incredible. About five months ago I began experiencing similar aches and popping in my right hip. My immediate instinct was to visit Dr. Gupta who again discovered a similar labrum tear and impingement now in that hip. The decision was easy - have Dr. Gupta preform the surgery and live an active, pain-free life. Dr. Gupta is extremely personable, knowledgeable, and the definition of professional. He takes an interest in learning about his patients, and it’s clear he is committed to helping people live a pain free life. I first met Dr. Gupta on 10/1/20. I had bilateral osteoarthritis of my hips. At the time I was 64. Although I had end stage arthritis of my right hip, I told him I wanted him to operate on the left hip first, since that one had more pain. He agreed and set me up for surgery, using the anterior approach, on 10/13, just 12 days away! After the surgery, I immediately had less groin and knee pain on the left side. I also had less groin and knee pain on the right side too! I guess that's because the left side could now handle more weight from the right side. I was discharged the same day! I started climbing a 14 step staircase and driving my stick shift car after 3 days. I had so much range of motion that I was kicked out of my physical therapy before 3 weeks! Eight weeks later on 12/8/20, I had the same surgery on my right side. This time, I was already 65. Because the surgery was later in the day and I was wiped out, I was admitted to the hospital for 1 day. I previously had a leg length discrepancy (LLD) of 1.5 to 2 inches. After the surgery, the LLD was reduced to .25 to .5 inches. I could finally wear 2 shoes of the same pair again! Two days later, I started PT. My physical therapist said my range of motion was fantastic and that I wouldn't be there long! As with the last time, I was driving my car after 3 days! Dr. Gupta performed hip surgery on our teenage daughter to repair a torn labrum. We felt well taken care of, everything was explained pre as well as post op. Now, 3 months later, she is pain free and ready to participate in sports again.
I was referred to Dr Gupta by some friends at Church. I had a history of arthritis in my hips and had tried NSAIDs and Physical Therapy. After explaining my condition, Dr Gupta recommended an anterior approach replacement. The overall experience was superb. I have walked more post-op than I did in the year prior. I was walking 2 miles at two weeks post-op without a walker or a cane. My experience was so good that I sent my wife to him. She is prepping for her replacement now. Dr Gupta and his staff are wonderful!
I was referred to Dr.Gupta because I tore my hip labrum and needed surgery. My first appointment went well and I truly felt comfortable with Dr. Gupta so I agreed to schedule surgery. My surgery was scheduled for November 5th 2pm at Potomac View Surgery Center. The Thursday before my surgery I dropped off all my prescriptions Dr. Gupta gave me so that I would have everything I needed. CVS called me to advise me they were having an issue with my insurance company filling one of the medications. I immediately called Dr. Gupta's office and left a message with his assistant/ nurse. I didn't receive a callback, so I left another message the following day. Still no return call. Finally I was able to reach out to my primary care doctor who assisted CVS and my insurance company to get it filled. The morning of my surgery I received a call from Potomac View Surgery Center asking me where I was and how long would it take before I got there. I explained to the lady my surgery was scheduled in the afternoon. Her response was "Well, the time was changed a few days ago and someone left a message." I told her I never received any calls regarding the surgery. With that being said I rushed to the surgery center from Lake Ridge at 7:30am. Upon arrival everyone was racing around to get me prepped for surgery and they were training a nurse which made me feel very uneasy. I made sure I told everyone I'm allergic to pain medication, so I was given an id bracelet. As I was waking up I overheard one nurse say she gave me Dilaudid and another nurse said "Oh I already gave her Fentanyl." Immediately I started throwing up which continued for several hours....and yes they rushed me out the door as fast as they rushed me in....no monitoring. A few weeks later I started feeling a painful throbbing sensation that went from my knee all the way down my calf. I called Dr. Gupta's office and left a message for his assistant/ nurse...No call back. A week later I left another message... no call back. Eventually I ended up calling the front desk. After explaining my situation the receptionist managed to get Dr. Gupta's assistant/ nurse on the phone. Who I must say had an attitude and was not helpful at all. She informed me that Dr. Gupta would be in the office in about 20 minutes and she would speak with him and then call me back...No call back. The following day I called the front desk again and asked the receptionist to assist me so I could followup with Dr. Gupta's assistant/ nurse. She said that Dr. Gupta wanted me to go to the hospital and have a sonogram done to make sure I didn't have a blood clot. She went on to tell me she was sending the order over and it was imperative that I go right away. Once I arrived at the hospital I was told that nothing was sent. The lady who was helping me at registration called over to Dr. Gupta's office to have the order sent "STAT" because I have a history of blood clots. The following morning I called Dr. Gupta's assistant/ nurse for my results and she said that they hadn't been sent yet, but "If I had a blood clot I wouldn't have been sent home from the hospital the previous day." She assured me that she would followup with me after she spoke with Dr. Gupta....It's been several weeks and I still haven't heard from anyone. Thank God I have the most amazing primary care doctor who was able to check my sonogram results and ease my mind that I didn't have another pulmonary embolism. All of this could have been avoided if he took 5 minutes to speak with me or if I was asked to come in. Following up with your patients comes along with the job. Dr. Gupta and his assistant/ nurse need to take a course in bedside manner!!!! I was referred to Dr.Gupta because I tore my hip labrum and needed surgery. After almost 2 years of walking with difficulty and constantlyin excruciating pain, I decided to reach out to a health professional. My orthopedic doctor was unable to help me with my left hip acetabular labral tears discovered from the MRI she prescribed me. She referred as well as highly recommended I see a specialist, Dr. Gupta. I am so grateful she did, because he was fantastic! I was terrified of having surgery and showed up with a long list of questions that he took the time needed to answer. He was extremely patient and knowledgeable and ensured I felt confident about what was ahead before I left his office. He explained how they were going to repair my tears and tighten all the ligaments during surgery, what recovery would look like as well as a realistic time frame for me to return to work and exercise. His surgery team was caring and doting and would not release me to my husband until they were absolutely sure I was able to safely make the 2 hour trip home. They even called to check on me the very next day. Unfortunately, during my Physical Therapy, I started having excruciating pains in my right hip, because it could not keep up with my now stronger and healthier repaired left hip. Dr. Gupta immediately ordered an MRI and I was devastated to find out that it had tears just like the left one had prior to surgery. He went and got me a tissue box when I could not stop crying and consoled me until I calmed down. He then set me up with his Surgical Coordinator right away, and ensured she knew to schedule it as soon as possible so that my insurance would help cover most of the expenses while I was still under this year's plan where I had already met my deductible. My second hip repair went even more smoothly than my first, and his entire team were amazing. They ensured they did not give me too much pain medication to handle, and so I had the best after surgery recovery without headache, nausea nor vomiting. Dr. Gupta's right hand, Christina, was consistently helpful and timely with my needs as in regards to all of the paperwork needed to be sent to my workplace for continued time off from work as well as my workplace compensation while out on medical leave. She is a gem! I am forever grateful for Dr. Gupta and his team. I went to Dr. Gupta for hip pain that was getting progressively worse. After exploring minimally invasive options, we decided surgery was my best route. Dr. Gupta sold me a bill of goods, folks. He had me thinking I would be able to do cartwheels and splits 2 weeks after surgery. It wasn't until I met another one of his patients at my physical therapy clinic post-op that I realized I wasn't the only one. The problem here is he sets you up with unrealistic expectations, which can quickly cause self-doubt, insecurity and even depression. During my last visit, he made a sideway comment about not wanting to see me use my cane. He has a good way of making you feel like a failure. Before surgery, he told me I would be on my walker for 1 week and 2 weeks on my cane. How about I was on my walker for 1 month and 2 months on my cane? Gupta is a new-age doctor. The healthcare companies don't pay him enough, so his goal is to spend as little time with you as possible. I swear it feels like he plays a game with himself on just how fast he can get in and out of your room. The longest he's met with me? 5 minutes. I've timed him. The average? 150-180 seconds. I learned to have my list of questions or concerns ready and written down, because if I tried to go by memory I would walk away with nothing, nada. I had so many questions after surgery while in the hospital. Do you know this guy did not stop by my room? He sent someone I had never even met and didn't tell me beforehand. Someone who isn't even a part of this practice. Nice guy, but he had no idea what happened during surgery, so he had limits on what I could ask him. Is Gupta a great surgeon? Yep. He will cut you well. Is Gupta a great doctor? Hell naw. He sucks balls. Do not expect him to care about anything beyond your incision or implant. How you're healing, its impact on your day-to-day life, mobility, quality of life, etc. He cares not. You will need to determine how long you need to take physical therapy. He's never once communicated with my physical therapist who I see once to twice per week to see how I'm doing. You will need to come up with a pain management plan and be proactive. You will need to determine what reasonable accommodations you'll need to transition back to work. DO NOT expect him to offer or think of any of these things for you, ESPECIALLY not his staff. You're on your own. An example? I had to find out on my own, by happenstance, that there were resources at the hospital I could utilize. I went out researching, buying stuff that all came included with my hospital stay. Gupta's going to treat you and your surgery with a cookie cutter approach. One size fits all. Horrible!! I went to Dr. Gupta for hip pain that was getting progressively worse. After exploring minimally invasive options, we decided surgery was my best route. Dr. Gupta sold me a bill of goods, folks. He had me thinking I would be able to do … More
Doctor Gupta did a amazing job on my hip surgery I feel a 100% better than before my surgery
I was in pain for 5 years, saw Dr.Gupta he did surgery . After surgery ALL my pain was gone. He is great surgeon. Never thought I would be with out pain. I highly recommend him. I have told all friends and family about him and even strangers I talk to.
Dr Gupta is an excellent physician of advanced orthopedics. My hip surgery went great and recovery was a success. I recommend him wholeheartedly.
Completely pain free post operatively from a hip labral repair. Dr. Gupta has given my mobility back. I couldn’t participate in sports or hike prior to surgery. A year out and I’m enjoying the outdoors and competitive sports again. Highly recommend!
Dr. Gupta is wonderful!! I was having severe hip pain and needed a hip replacement. Dr. Gupta did the surgery and after three months I am in no pain and feeling great! I definitely recommend Dr. Gupta!
Dr. Gupta is amazing! He is extremely knowledgeable, personable, and professional. I went to him with a torn ACL, and he took the time to explain everything to me and answer all my questions. He made sure I understood every aspect of my injury, surgery, and recovery. His surgery skills are outstanding. There was minimal pain or scarring, and the healing process was uncomplicated. I am now 10 months post surgery and can do everything I did before with no pain or even thoughts of my injury. Dr. Gupta made sure that my unfortunate injury would not be a lifelong disability, which I was worried about, as I am 45 yo. I have referred two ACL injuries to Dr. Gupta and will continue to do so. I am 2 Months post op labrum surgery. I feel almost 100%!!! Dr. Gupta is a unbelievable surgeon. I haven't felt this good in over 10 years. I highly recommend him for your surgeon. He is a very down to earth person that will listen to all of your questions. Honestly the best surgeon I ever had so far. Thank you Dr. Gupta!!
Dr Gupta helped me regain my quality of life back. For almost a year prior to my labrum tear surgery I had difficulty in doing my exercises or even walking my dogs for any extended time. Dr Gupta helped diagnose the issue and we scheduled surgery. 10 weeks post surgery I have regained most of what I could do. The hardest part has been not pushing myself and letting my body heal, since I feel like I can do more. Dr Gupta helped me regain my quality of life back. I had dealt with hip pain since being pregnant with my son 5 years ago. After years of not being able to sit on the floor with my kids, climb stairs without pain, walk or exercise. Even the smallest daily activities became more difficult. I chose to seek Dr. Gupta's medical opinion. After an MRI I was diagnosed with a labral tear. I put off surgery for another year or so but my pain progressed to the point where I would get stuck in certain positions and my hip would catch while walking. Finally, I made the decision to have arthroscopic surgery. Honestly, the best decision I could have made, I should have made it sooner, saving myself from years of hip pain and missing out on activities with my kids. Dr. Gupta was amazing!! Extremely professional and answered all my questions. The Potomac View Surgery Center was GREAT!! I had never had surgery before and was quite nervous but Dr. Gupta the staff made me feel comfortable and were so attentive!! I came home from surgery and by the next day I was pain free, never needed the pain medication prescribed post operatively. Overall, I was so pleased with my experience and would highly recommend him to anyone! Don't put it off when you can be pain free! Dr. Gupta was totally awesome! After years of pain, I was still trying to do physical therapy for my hip that the military had recommended. When I finally got an MRI, my general physician said that I should see an orthopedist immediately since my femoral head was fractured. No wonder I was in excruciating pain! My referral was to see Dr. Gupta because I had to be treated outside the military system. What a blessing! Dr. Gupta explained everything clearly and completely and I felt confident after talking with him. After my first visit, we decided to have the hip replacement surgery. He said that a hip replacement would be "life changing" and it was!! At my annual post-op, everything looks great and I have been pain free and active since the recovery period. Dr. Gupta was awesome! I came to him for a second opinion after a poor experience with another surgeon. Dr. Gupta took the time to examine, explain his findings, and give me a proper diagnosis. He was great about providing me with alternate options to try prior to surgery. Physical therapy did not fix my issue, so I went forward with the surgery. Dr. Gupta did an amazing job before and after surgery. His office staff is always polite and helpful! Highly recommend! Dr. Gupta was awesome! After being in the pain since 2015, the military finally said you need hip surgery. Luckily for me, I am a reservist and was able to see a civilian doctor. Dr. Gupta came highly recommended to me from a Marine peer. From the moment, I went to my consultant until today when I received my good bill of health (see you in a year), I have experienced 1st healthcare. Let remind you, I did not have a civilian primary care or hospital, Dr. Gupta's office set up the surgery dates and from that point everyone in chain assisted me to get ready for the surgery, to include getting me a civilian primary care doctor. Dr. Gupta did surgery on my right hip first and I immediately was relieved of pain. And like he said, I was on the walker less than 5 days and used the cane for 10 days. I had the right surgery on 9 January and on 6 March, I was getting the left hip done. Yes, I recovered that fast. Left hip did better than the right in recovering. I have one more month of physical therapy, but I am already walking better, working out and wore a pair of small heels. Dr. Gupta's work is superb and he was right, I will back to living my life by summer. I highly recommend him and his team. I have already told one of my soldiers that he will come stay with me and get his hip replacement by Dr. Gupta! Danielle PS: Dr. Gupta's anterior approach doesn't have any restrictions, which is a Physical Therapist's dream. After being in the pain since 2015, the military finally said you need hip surgery. Will sell you a bill of goods. Will get in and out of your exam room faster than the speed of light. Will have you feeling insecure and like a total failure. Post op: Only cares about your incision and implant. Will leave you to figure out the rest.
I am thoroughly pleased with every aspect of my hip replacement surgery and the care and attention Dr. Gupta and his staff (surgical, medical, physical therapist, office) have given me during the last three months. Will give a very enthusiastic and whole-hearted recommendation to anyone I know that needs orthopedic work!

Dr. Gupta performed surgery on my Hip due to a bad car accident. He is very friendly, polite and patient. He worked side by side with Dr. Press to ensure I received the best care possible. Prior to surgery, he made me feel comfortable moving forward. He took his time and even after surgery he treated my with extreme care. I would highly recommend him to a family member. I cannot forget their assistants as well who were both prompt and generous with care. Thank the entire Office and its employees for a great recovery. I am now able to live a normal life with minimal restrictions. I feel blessed to have Dr. Gupta and Dr. Press as my Family Surgeons and Friends.
