Barney Edward Selph

Does not have pleasant bed side manners. I felt rushed and over quoted. I'm a dental assistant and I have been for 22 years I never tell anyone because I want to see what they tell me I need and see if they are putting money or patient first. I looked at my xrays with him. He said I needed crowns that I didn't and wanted to take out perfectly good amalgam fillings. No thanks!!

Just got my teeth cleaned by the new hygienist! She is wonderful!!

Love Dr. S...staff is super friendly and the hygienist is wonderful as well as gentle.

Today Karen the hygentist did a fantastic cleaning on my teeth. She allowed me to ask questions and was careful to tell me what she was about to do, each step of the way. This is my second visit and i ditto the first visit. It appeared to me that Dr. Selph may be having some stiffness like from arthritis in his legs or back. Thos of us who pray could pray for his wellness whstever it may be. God knows. I visited today (9/27/21) and found that the new to me hygenist is marvelous. Dr. Selph, you pick them good!! Superb! Kimberly took great care of the whole family with humor, dexterity and gentleness. Dr. Selph knows his stuff and has an excellent chairside manner.

Dr Selph is excellent, kind and a great dentist. His hygienist was so informative and helpful. I had not been in several years for a cleaning and she was gentle and very understanding and sweet. Thank you for such a great experience .

I saw Kimberly, a new Dental Hygienist, and was pleasantly surprised. She was a wonderful breath of fresh air, and very diligent about explaining possible problem spots with my teeth and gums.

Outstanding and kind services rendered!

The doctor was good however I feel that they should explain what's going to happen so the person be prepared.

Quick service, no waiting. The dental assistant was great and the dentist did a good job. The procedure of getting a crown is not fun.

Having a phobia of the dentist office has kept me from visiting one for several years but today's visit was nothing but greatness from the staff to the doctor himself thanks for making me feel comfortable it was truly a great experience especially from someone who has been afraid of the dentist for so long thanks again

Excellent staff. My hygienist was really informative and funny to chat with. I wish they'd pick up some of the water/sonic cleaning tools I got used to in Australia to replace their manual ones that dig a bit too much. Still, gentle, thorough, funny hygienist. I have no complaints.

Update: 1 day before my next appointment on Jun 3 they called and said they don’t have a hygienist until August. So if you need a teeth cleaning, it’s very much in the air about when you might actually get in. Once you get in, it’s worth it! But unfortunately it seems like they are having a hard time with staffing. This was the best dental experience I’ve ever had. The friendliest staff possible. I’m so happy to have such an amazing dentist so close. Thank you guys! Update: 1 day before my next appointment on Jun 3 they called and said they don’t have a hygienist until August. Dr Selph and his staff are always rapid, and efficient with my visits. I have been seeing Dr. Selph as my dentist for a few years now. I won't ever see another dentist. (Until he retires of course ????)

From the receptionist to the technicians, all were extremely nice, helpful and answered my questions. I was fitted in as an emergency for an abscess root canal tooth and Dr Selph took good care of me and answered my questions. The extraction to take place after a course of antiobiotics. As always, I had a great experience at my last visit. All the staff is friendly, and I never have to wait more than a couple minutes. I know I am in very capable hands when I step into the office.

We were on our boat visiting Cape Charles. I developed tooth pain from a previous root canal that I had earlier in the year. I called and left a message. His office was closed when I called. When I moved to the shore I was thinking it would be a bad experience changing Dentist from Virginia Beach to the Eastern shore. I found Dr. Selph and it’s been a great experience. glad I did it, no more traveling across the bridge. I’ve had two or 36 month cleaning I have had a crown and I’ve had a filling and it’s all been good

Dr. Selph has an easy going nature that relaxes you, especially if you don’t care for going to the Dentist! Also, a soft touch that clearly comes from great experience...I honestly didn’t feel a thing not even the needle! Highly recommend him, I am a new patient but will be making appointments for my whole family.
