As I was in the hospital for pulmonary embolisms, a Dr., unknown to me, showed up and told me that masses showed up on a CT Scan and the fear was they were cancer. It turned out to be Stage 4 Colon cancer. That Dr.’s name who showed up randomly is Dr. Bassem Chaar. And I can tell you now, without question, I WAS BLESSED by God to have this man show up and be my Ocologist. He is detailed at every visit about what he is seeing and what our plan of action will be. He gives as much time, no limits, as it takes to insure I understand. He works tirelessly in the care of his patients, the best I have witnessed in 65 years of life. As well, while he is very professional at what he does, he is also extremely compassionate. His treatments over the last 8 months have surpassed my expectations of where I thought I would be. To me, Dr. Chaar is the best on the planet.

I received excellent care frim Dr. Chaar, his nurse Lynn, and the entire staff. They were always very thorough, compassionate and professional in all the care that I received. Even when things like referrals were needed, many times, Dr. Chaar personally made calls to myself, other doctors that were involved in my treatments, and the insurance company to make sure there were no delays in my care and that all my needs were being met. I truly appreciate the love and consideration he showed to my family and I during a most difficult time in my life.

Dr Chaar has been treating my lung cancer since I was in the hospital. He patiently and kindly explained my situation. He is very reasonable and considers all my worries and concerns. Having stage 4 has caused me much anxiety and he has always taken that into consideration and has given me a reason for hope. His treatment plan has obtained good results and I am currently finished with chem and immunotherapy. He is very accessible. His nurse Lynn is terrific. I really appreciate having him as my oncologist.

Dr. Chaar is a remarkable oncologist working within an equally remarkable facility, Affiliated Oncologists. I am just a simple, ordinary walk-in client. Being identified as having cancer placed me in an overwhelming swirl of who, what when, and where questions. Affiliated Oncologists was recommended by my primary care physician - I highly recommend Affiliated Oncologists. Dr. Chaar was also recommended - as were others. My road to recovery began with becoming a client - more like becoming an adopted member of their skilled caregiving family. Dr. Chaar exudes confidence and competence. Pleasantries are exchanged but he excels at asking questions, answering my questions, explaining what options are mine, what is involved in the procedures of my treatment, and I am again asked if there are questions I would like answered. An amazing characteristic of Dr. Chaar is his note-taking and attention to the total needs of his patient.

Dr. Chaar has been a great Oncologist. I respect his expertise and honest feedback. I would definitely recommend. He diagnosed the reason for the brain bleed (APL Leukemia) and prescribed the chemo regimen of ATO/ATRA.

I could not ask for a better doctor. He is the best. Listens to all I need answered and explains everything from my tests. I don't think I could find another cancer doctor like him. He is patient and understanding. He treats me as a person first and a patient second. Love this doctor.

I have been with Dr. Chaar from my initial appointment through my first ever experience with chemotherapy for colorectal cancer. These 6+ months have only confirmed my feelings from the initial appointment: 'I thank God for Dr. Chaar and the privilege of having him as my Oncologist.' He is skilled, personal, thorough. Your appointment is his time to be fully with you, he encourages questions, and insures his answers are understood. His team members reflect his care for his patients. Dr. Bassem T. Chaar is the doctor you want as you deal with your cancer!

I take my grandmother to Dr chaar for a very rare form of stomach cancer. He was extremely knowledgeable even though most doctors were not. He definitely takes us time to explain things and options available. He never pushes anything that we don't want. And now my grandmother has dementia and she repeatedly asked the same question every visit. He never once loses his patience with her and he always continues to be very respectful and answer all of her questions over and over. The nursing staff there is absolutely phenomenal especially his nurse Lynn and an aide Mari. I would definitely recommend Affiliated oncology 2 anyone seeking passionate doctors in nursing staff.

He listens to me and makes sure I understand what he is telling me about my health as a result of tests that have been given. He always asks if I have any questions and makes sure we have time to talk at the end of the visit. I appreciate his forthrightness and help in keeping me healthy.

Outstanding!! When my Husband was first diagnosed with cancer, my daughter spoke to her friend who is an Oncology Nurse, that works on the Oncology floor of Christ Hospital. We had no idea who to see & she told my daughter, “if this was MY Dad,” I would want him to see Dr Chaar! We, my Husband, 4 Daughters & I, have been very grateful to my Daughters friend. When Dr Chaar walked in the room & saw my Husband for the first time, we all knew he was a brilliant man, a kind man & a man who shows my 71 year old Husband, who has a tendency to ask the same questions over & over, such respect & never acts like he is annoyed (like I do!!). He takes his time. He explains something & if he doesn’t think he got it the first time, he explains it again!! Sometimes, when he’s running late, he will apologize...my husband always tells him, “Doc, you’re worth the wait!” We love Dr Chaar & we are so very thankful that he is ours...we know in our hearts, that he has saved my Husband life! Dr. Chaar is knowledgeable, compassionate, and he takes the time to LISTEN to all of my concerns as well as to answer all of my questions. He takes the time with me so I do feel as though I am his only patient when I see him. I would recommend him to everyone I know!

Dr. Chaar is an experienced leader in his specialty, extremely knowledgeable and current regarding all possible and effective treatments. He ensures thorough care in an efficient manner. Dr. Chaar is one of the kindest physicians I have ever encountered. He patiently answers all of my questions and concerns both at my appointments or through follow up phone calls. He works with his office staff to ensure all available insurance or cost reduction forms are made available and complete for his patients.

My advice would be before you choose Dr. Chaar as your primary oncologist to look into other oncologists before you make your final decision . This doctor LACKS compassion . My dad was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer in 2018 and started recieving treatment from Dr. Chaar. My dad was already at stage 3 so he started chemo immediately. Dr. Chaar would talk about how "numbers are looking great","everything looking good" when it came to labs. But he didn't keep a close eye on my dad's cancer as I think he should. Scans tell you alot because you will be able to find out if the cancer has spread or not. However, it would be a long gap between scans just so my dad can continue chemo treatments. Just to find out the chemo did not work at all and the cancer kept spreading. Dr. Chaar got to the point in coming to the room not even speaking to me/ no eye contact but to my dad only like they were the only two in the room. (How unprofessional is that?) He didn't have compassion when talking about how its spreading he was only concerned about getting him to try another round of chemo and had a "matter of fact" attitude about it. My stayed hopeful and went through rounds of chemo, 2 surgeries, and radiation. At the end my dad's cancer still progressed to stage 4. No one. Not even Dr. Chaar or the outpatient clinic Affiliated Oncologist was brave enough to say he was dying. We never heard it was "time to get affairs in order"and they never gave us a prognosis. First time hearing a prognois is when my dad was in the emergency room due to excessive pain and the doctors at the hospital told my family and I that we were looking at under a year for my dad. 3 weeks later after my dad was released from the hospital my dad passed away. Dr. Chaar/Affiliated Oncologist did not prepare us AT ALL. I didn't understand/ know how close to death he actually was and it happened so fast. I understand to not to destroy all hope but I think that there is an importance in helping patients and their families understand the reality of their situation so there is time to mentally process.

Up date...my new oncologist is fantastic! Chaar said there are only 2 chemo pills for my thyroid cancer...WRONG....there are 3. I kept asking, almost begging him about getting me more oxycodone. You basically told me because of me being on Medicaid they wouldnt allow more...WRONG AGAIN! You wouldn't even bother trying! You give me other pills that my body didnt get along well with. Then when I give you the reason why I couldn't use them...you made me feel like I was lying. Well....my new oncologist was able to get me the 180 that I had been near begging you to try to get me. Did we argue on our last meeting...you darn right. Then you black list me with all Affiliated Oncologist. And the meeting before our last, you talk about if I can't take the Nexavar you went straight to saying next comes hospice! You make me feel like you are were giving up on me. Thank God your gone and I have a new oncologist who was compassionate and knowledg for my condition. Everything I spoke was 100% truth.
