Dr. Brad David Berman

I don't know if WebMD will allow this to be posted, but it's true and I hope parents read it before going to Brad. Being Brad's patient from ages 14-16 was a traumatic living nightmare for me that still haunts me at age 29 and has been a foundation of lasting deep resentment in my family. I was recommenced to Brad for a suspected ADD diagnosis by a 9th grade teacher because I was disrupting her class. Over the course of my first year with Brad he put me on a half dozen different stimulants and SSRIs. It became apparent to me and others that these drugs were making me anti-social and paranoid and any slight benefit to my ability to sit quietly in classes was being out-weighed. I became suspicious that Dr Berman's primary motivation for the medication regime was economic and not medical. Every time we had a complaint about a side effect, he had a new drug designed for that complaint. In our few quick meetings, he was more interested in promoting new variants of drug brands and bouncing around his neurological theories than learning anything about me or taking care of me. Several times I recall talking in his office devolving from theoretical discussions on how meds work to to me begging him to stop prescribing me new meds (In my teenage mind I couldn't refuse) and him asking me to leave. Informed consent forms went illegally unsigned. Years after leaving his "care", I found dramatically more success in life (friends, money, creatively) I couldn't have dreamed of in high school by embracing myself and living medication free. If I could go back in time, I would have never stepped in his office. Doctors like Brad who use misleading studies and connections with school administrators to sell expensive drugs to innocent kids are a shame to their field. Don't fall for it!

Wow! I got on here so that I could send Dr. Berman a Christmas card and was shocked to see a negative review. Dr. Berman is one of the wisest doctors I've been to. I went there for my twins speech delay issues but asked for advice about another child as well. He is fantastic about seeing every side of your child and not trying to put them into a box with one label. He sees all their layers which is so helpful as a parent. He never made me feel rushed and really took the time to get to know my twins. I really appreciate Dr. Berman and I'm so sad that he has no longer practicing.
