When visiting UOC, it’s like visiting a friend. The folks on Dr Barters staff are always very helpful & friendly. I have been seeing Dr Barter for 15 years. He has replaced my ankle & a knee, getting ready to have the second knee done. He is very knowledgeable and I appreciate him being, an extension of God’s hands & feet.

I am grateful that finally after 8 months someone is going to listen to me about my foot problems and have a plan to fix it correctly.

Great doctor, very personable and friendly. Explained my xrays and set up a treatment plan. I have all the faith in the world he will have me back on my feet in time for my long planned trip.

Dr Barter was very professional and thorough explaining the hip surgery he performed as emergency on me.

Absolutely amazing surgeon. Made me feel relaxed before my ankle surgery. They squeezed me in to evaluate me and three days later he squeezed me in again to do my surgery. His staff has answered all of my questions and concerns. Highly recommend him to anyone. I am beyond thankful for the care given.

Dr Barter was extremely thorough and explained every detail of my injury, much better than the previous doctor was. He explained everything that was on the MRI. I felt much more confident with him

He is one of a very few Drs doing the kind of joint replacement I needed.

Dr. Barter reviewed with be my previous treatment and what my expectations were at the time of the previous treatment. He reviewed my expectations now(Post Surgery) and how my knee was progressing. Very thorough and explains everything. Tells it like it is, great job!!

Dr. Barter actively listens to concerns and discusses the options.

Dr Barter gave me a thorough explanation of my MRI and then treated my symptoms in a manner which, I believe, will eventually lead to their elimination. The only disturbing act on his part was that I had to wait one hour and 50 minutes beyond my assigned appointment time before he presented himself.

I can always get an appointment quickly and when it's convenient. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this office to anyone and I do.

I had torn ligaments in my ankle Dr. Barter repaired them and each day my foot and ankle are getting stronger and more stable.

I came in for a 2nd opinion for an broken ankle. Dr. Barter was confident in his assessment and capabilities. He got me in to surgery next day. So far so good!

Love UOC State College, I have had Dr. Barter as a Dr for a Foot/Ankle Recon instruction and now a Upcoming Hand Wrist Surgery !!! I have been Very Pleased with His Surgery of My Foot and Great Dr with Great Bed Side Manners , He takes the time to listen n plan the Best course of Treatment. Totally Recommend Dr. Barter at UOC !!!

I was very impressed with the operation of my appointment. Xrays first. Then Dr. Barter came in and showed me the xray and gave me options. I choose surgery. He explained what he would do and before i left, the surgery date and all follow up appointments were completed. Very happy with Dr. Barter.

Great doctors and nurses at UOC! Even though they are often running behind schedule by the afternoon, they are still friendly and provide great care!

Dr. Barter and his team are friendly, professional and masters of their craft! Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Would recommend Dr. Barter and his team at UOC anytime, to anyone! They were everything I expected from a professional surgical team.

Went to see Dr Barter at UOC for my ongoing foot concerns and as usual very pleased with my visit and ongoing care. Dr Barter takes time to make sure I understand the treatment plan and considers my input about my cares. I highly recommend Dr Barter and UOC for orthopedic cares.

Friendly staff Dr.Barter was very thorough and helpful.

I saw Dr Barter for chronic plantar fasciitis. He treated me with an amniotic shot. He explained things well, what I should expect , and will follow up with me in a future visit to check my progress, or lack of progress, so I am aware of how he plans further treatment. I was very pleased with him and staff of UOC. Very considerate.

I am totally satisfied with everything! Dr was wonderful and I have all the confidence I am in good hands!

Diagnosed issues in my ankles that I have been struggling with for years!! Wouldn’t recommend anyone else!

Dr. Border was understanding. kind and knew what needed done. He is straight forward with you.

He's a great doctor. I've been seeing him since 2018 for different foot and ankle issues. He has taken care of all of them.

Dr Barter by far, is a very welcoming and knowledgable physician. I loved the fact that he went step by step on explaining what was still wrong with my ankle, showed me the scans etc. Extremely pleased with everything overall.

Very happy with experience at University Orthopedics. Dr. Barter is very professional in his duties, and he did a great job with me. His explanations of my procedure were very helpful and calming.

Dr Barter did a great job on my ankle fracture. He explained everything that was going to need to be done before my surgery, and had me on my way before lunch. I had fairly minimal pain in the days following, and the fracture healed very nicely.

I went to Dr Bradley Barter after I broke my heel. He explained that surgery was needed and why. Twelve weeks after surgery, I am almost pain free and walking with minimal issues. Highly recommend Dr Barter and his staff.

I cut my left thumb and first finger on my table saw. Went to emergency room. Dr. Barter was on call. I saw him the next day, and had surgery the following day. Everything went well and appears to be healing properly. Dr. Barter and Aaron his PC saw me several times in the next few weeks and were helpful in explaining what to expect, as well as insuring there was no infection. I was in horrible pain and saw Dr Barter and he explained what was going on with my feet and ankles at the very first visit He took his time with me and explained my situation to me and the need for surgery sooner than later, his only question to me was, WHY DID YOU WAIT ? I’ve had both feet operated on at 2 different times of course and on my last visit last Monday I was released for 1 yr check up. In my eyes he’s the best Dr, he has a great bedside manner and truly did an extremely detailed procedure on me. Caring...listened to your concerns very thorough

I regret that I ever went to see Dr. Barter for surgery on a hammertoe and bunion. He crippled me by damaging the muscles and tendons in the toes of my right foot. I am now at risk of falling unless I walk with a walker with wheels and handbrakes.

Both Dr. Barter and the PA I saw were friendly, there are a couple things I was disappointed with. While they did explain what was going on with my foot injury, when they asked me a question, it seemed they only heard the answer they wanted to hear, not what I was saying. Also the wait times are terrible. Wait time in lobby was ok, but when you're taken back it becomes a waiting game.My first appointment was an hour and ten minutes late and the second was 45 minutes late.

Dr. Barter was in a terrific hurry. He talked over me and interrupted me several times, and I never really felt like he listened or wanted to hear anything I had to say about my health concerns. He left the appointment without asking if I had any questions, and I did. Consequently, I left feeling that the appointment was a waste of time and money.

I went to Dr. Barter after fracturing my right Calcaneus. He explained what he felt needed to be done to repair it and return my life to normal. Twelve weeks after surgery, I am almost walking normal, no pain. Highly recommend Dr. Barter and UOC.

Dr. Barter has performed two surgeries for me. One to fix someone else's mistake. After ankle surgery I'm pain free, no more constant trips for injections that only proved temporary. Next a total knee replacement. Only two months out from second surgery and my whole life has changed. I have full mobility with NO pain. I could not imagine any better results. Dr. Barter is a true God send. His advice was spot on. My time well spent for long lasting results.

After having two hip replacements in the past year by Dr. Barter I have no complaints. All is well.

From the nursing staff at the clinic to Dr Barter, I was amazed at the care, the concern, and the compassion that I received. It is a quality run clinic with top-notch staff. Dr Barter is very meticulous in every aspect. In the consultation he was very knowledgeable and very detailed in what he would be doing during the surgery. He was also the same way the day of the surgery. He took his time to make sure I understood everything and could ask questions if needed. I’d like to say that everything ran on time but it didn’t. The doctor had a difficult case just ahead of me that made him run late by an hour. Still when he reached me he didn’t make me feel as though he was ignoring my needs so that he could move on quickly. He took his time and was very thorough. I felt that the lateness in the schedule was nothing to fuss about because if I were that patient ahead of me, I would want the same attention, expertise, and result that Dr Barter gave that person if I had been in there.

NO DEFINITELY NOT! Wife was diagnosed with shoulder impingement. Surgery followed, Dr. said it went perfectly, did not repair small tear. After several more visits and months of physical therapy and still only 45% motion he reiterated, "I did everything right", then diagnosed "frozen shoulder" and performed a shoulder manipulation WITHOUT further diagnostics (MRI) and she as level 4 tear of the rotator cuff. Horrible bedside manner ALWAYS late even for surgery. Stay away beware. 0 stars out of 5. Site made me give 1 star.

Actually took the time to see what my issues were. I’ve had swelling in my foot for over 4 years and after numerous doctors visits, Dr. Barter found a possible cause and has a plan to remedy the problem.

Dr. Barter was very thorough with his examination of my knee. His expertise in performing the procedure I needed was excellent. He has given me positive encouragement that alternative treatments as opposed to surgery is greatly appreciated. I also appreciate his respect towards his staff is refreshing.

My mother is 92 years old, legally blind and hard of hearing and Dr. Barter was great with her. He actually saved her foot from being amputated several years ago. For this visit her was examining a huge hematoma on her arm and wrote a script for new braces. Given the trying times we are all facing, he took his time with my mother and was very pleasant and reassuring with her.

Doc has a great bedside manner & is an excellent surgeon. Very pleased with his services.

I would strongly encourage you to avoid this place for the following reasons: DOCTORS (in particular Dr. Barter): I saw Dr. Barter with a sprained ankle from Basketball. His initial diagnosis was two torn ligaments with a likelihood of surgery waiting for me. X-rays showed no fractures. After the MRI (the following week) and a radiologist report that clearly stated no signs of fractures, Dr. Barter proceeded to take another set of X-rays and tell me I had a fracture that apparently did not show up in the first set of X-rays. He was unable to explain the situation but felt rushed and used only technical terminology rather than explaining my injury and following procedure. He put me in a cast for five weeks despite international travel and declined to discuss the risk of thrombosis when immobilizing an ankle for so long and flying. When asking whether surgery or conservative treatment and rehab were the better option he was unable to provide statistics for an informed decision. His only

Dr Barter is very confident. He is very knowledgeable. I believe he wants to improve lives and presents information straightforward. He does talk fast, so pay attention. I feel comfortable in his ability to diagnose and treat me.

Dr. Barter was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable & had a wonderful treatment plan that fit my needs. I can’t recommend him enough!

Told me I needed surgery for a completely torn Achilles tendon, which was not true according to the MRI I had done. It was 50% torn with fragmentation, but he told me not to pay any attention to the MRI. I did 8 sessions of Physical therapy, and it healed fine. Physical therapists told me it was a good thing I didn't have surgery or my foot and ankle because it might have been permanently damaged. Would never go back to him.

Great doctor but too busy to spend any time with the patients

I have had ongoing hip pain for many years. Dr. Barter worked with me in finding a solution that worked best for my lifestyle, since I am unable to have a hip scope done at this time. He is very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend him for any issue that would involve an orthopedic surgeon! He is passionate about his work and helping his patients.

Dr. Barter has been instrumental in helping me regain my love of hiking and hunting. Prior to my surgery, I had difficulty walking long distances, but now, I can walk for hours without foot pain! I highly recommend Dr. Barter to anyone with foot problems, you'll not find a better person.

Dr. Barter told my husband he needed his ankle replaced or fused to stop the rolling of his foot. After a failed ankle replacement and attempted surgery to straighten his foot we went to the Cleveland Clinic where we were told that the ankle replacement should never have been done without first fixing the foot. Now my husband has to have a below the knee amputation.

Dr. Barter was 2 hours behind for my apt. Not only did he not even mention being late let alone apologize for making me sit there for 2 hours, but he was so rude on top of that that I left in tears. He spoke down to me, interrupted me, was extremely arrogant, and insulted me for asking what a medical term meant. He didn't read anything from the referring Dr. or my medical chart. I don't even think he looked at my x-rays. I like UOC, but this guy needs to go. I will NOT be back. BEWARE!

Went to see him for a foot problem and he told me it was Hammer Toe and he could fix it. He first recommended orthotics for my shoes. Instead of submitting the original diagnosis to the insurance company to get inserts for Hammer Toe he submitted it as a bunion. When the bill came for $400 for inserts I questioned it with the insurance and they told me it was not covered for bunions. Complained to the office and Dr said "well, you do have a bunion too"; full of crap!!! Cost me $400! Don't go!
