Dr. Brent A Sharpe

Dr. Brent A. Sharpe is without a doubt the best urologist and surgeon I have ever been to. He is in my opinion not only the best that Georgia has to offer, but also I feel he is one of if not the best in the southeast as well!! I also can't begin to sing enough praises about his staff; Holly, Becca, Daniella as well as any that I might have missed. This review would not be complete without mentioning also his phenomenally superb Nurse Practitioner, Patricia Shelton; what a gem that any practicing physician would be blessed to have!!

Wanted to drop a note on Dr. Brent Sharpe. I moved back to Georgia in August 2015. I had some urology issues in Florida and was looking for a Urologist similar in professionalism as I had in South Florida. I met with Dr. Sharpe in Gainesville, GA. His professionalism was impeccable. The staff was extremely talented and treated with the highest respect and professionalism. As a result of my visit it was determined I needed special surgery to correct an issue which was promptly scheduled and performed at the surgical center. All worked out great which I am pleased. Had multiple follow up visits to review my recovery and each time the staff provided the utmost care in handling my issues and Dr. Sharpe was above the standards of any other Doctor I have come in contact for various serious issues. Nobody enjoys going to the Doctor but I can say that being a patient of Dr Sharpe he and his staff make you the most comfortable and always providing the best care. Recently via some lab work it was uncovered via my primary Doctor that I needed some tests on my Kidney, Prostrate etc. I worked with Dr. Sharpe scheduling team that provided excellent response to my needs and was able to accomondate my need and schedule. The 1st appointment was handled the best I could imagine. Dr Sharpe special team listened and with Dr. Sharpe assistance scheduled me for an upcoming test that will provide further information on the next step that maybe needed. I would recommend Dr. Sharpe and his team who are the best I have had contact of any Doctor I have experienced not only in Georgia but other states I have lived in years past. Again, nobody wants to see the Doctor but I can assure you will get the utmost professional care and opinion imaginable by any Physician I can recall. Thank You Dr. Sharpe and Team

Love Dr. Sharp. Hate his corporate practice. The procedure went well but got a uti and couldn't get any help from calling his I had to go to my GP. I have had two appointments canceled by them and rescheduled took two months. If you can get to the treatment room you will get a good doctor.

I have seen both Dr. Sharpe and Dr. Fisher. In both cases they seemed very knowledgeable and took the time to answer my questions. The staff was friendly and helpful. Very pleased.

Dr Sharp is a great Doctor and very professional. He treats me for Bladder cancer and I'm cancer free and doing maintenance to make sure everything is OK. Office stall is great also.

Dr Sharpe and his teams in Braselton and Gainesville were both amazing. Had a vasectomy done through Georgia Urology and had a great experience. Dr Sharpe is attentive and answers all questions honestly and accurately

Poor poor patient care, and office follow up. My sister ended up septic and in the hospital several days after his acre. He also never made rounds on her once in the hospital after procedure. NO RECOMMENDATION!

My husband has been Dr. Sharpe's patient for several years. He has had several problems that have been recognized and taken care of promptly. I trust him and appreciate his straight forward manner.. He's the best.

Dr Sharpe is amazing as well as his entire staff

A standard follow-up visit to Aquablation procedure last June. Dr. Sharpe does not waste your time, but he does take the time necessary to answer any questions that you have and to explain proposed treatments and/or procedures in easy-to-understand terms. He is not prone to prescribing unnecessary test and/or visits. After putting off selecting a urologist for 47 years, I believe that Dr. Sharpe has been the best choice for me. His resume is very impressive as is his experience with minimally invasive robotics and procedures. I highly recommend Dr. Sharpe.

Switching from GU at Gwinnett Hospital to the Flowery Branch location was not my choice but convenient. My experience was great since Dr. Sharpe is definitely a more outspoken Dr. which I prefer. I’ve been to more doctors and specialists I care to recall but from my vast experiences I can say confidently DrSharpe is aptly named. Smart, personable, communicative and a patient listener. Only had my initial visit and consultation but was pleased with Dr. Sharpe and his staff... high hopes for help with my ED...the jury is still out...

I have only seen Dr Sharpe a couple of times but I really like him, very thorough and all the staff was so nice. The only problem I have is I was needing a letter of medical necessity from them and I’ve waited three weeks now with no response, I’ve reached out and asked several times with no help.

Office is being careful, taking good virus protection precautions. Wait in car until shortly prior to appt. Keeps waiting room with only a small handful of people, easily staying 6+ feet apart. In and out quickly but did not feel rushed.

My wife and I have been patients of Dr. Sharpe for several years. We have a lot of trust in his knowledge and skills as a surgeon. He’s always gone the extra mile for us.

I had chosen a relatively new surgical procedure (Aquablation) for my BPH and so finding the right Urologist to perform it was extremely important to me. I contacted several Urologists across the country who have performed the Aquablation procedure and decided that given Dr. Sharpe's experience with Aquablation and my confidence in him, I would travel to Atlanta for him to perform my procedure. And I'm glad I did! The procedure went remarkably well, with no pain and very little bleeding. I left the hospital the next day and was 99% back to normal within 2 more days. I'm really not sure how it could have gone any better! From all the research I did, and now from my own experience, I don't know why anyone would not use Aquablation to surgically treat BPH and of course have Dr. Sharpe at the helm. I discovered Dr Sharpe when trying to locate a urologist who performs a new type of procedure for a common condition older men have to deal with. It turns out that he and one of his partners at Ga Urology were one of if not the first to adopt the new technology in the Southeast. For that I drive 6 hours to reach his office. At my initial appointment I wanted to learn about the procedure and how it is done. Dr. Sharpe answered every question I had and then some. My first question was how do you do the procedure. I was stunned by his response: "it all depends on what the patient wants." This was a completely different mindset compared to the 3 other urologists I'd consulted. Imagine that -- a surgeon listening to the outcome the patient wants and tailoring the details of the procedure to achieve that outcome instead of "my way or the highway." Sold. Beyond that he is very down-to-earth and engaging which immediately put me at ease. The office staff and wait times have been similar to what I've seen at other urologists offices -- they stay busy but are courteous and helpful. Dr. Sharpe was the highest rated by patients but his experience and breadth of knowledge stood out even more. Personally he is an outgoing, friendly and pleasant person and definitely lives up to his well established stellar professional reputation! I live 5+ hours away from Braselton and had been trying for over a year to find the perfect combination of right urologist and right procedure when I finally discovered Dr. Sharpe. He immediately impressed me as being patient-focused, caring, knowledgeable in the latest technology and techniques, and very grounded personally. He performed the Aquablation procedure on my prostate with excellent results, fine-tuning it to meet my needs by minimizing side effects that usually occur with prostate surgery. His nurse Christie and patient coordinator Lana were also very helpful. I'll be very hard pressed to not make the 5+ hour trip in the future for his care should I have any other major urologic issues.

Dr Sharpes office is overbooked. I arrived on time and had to wait over 45 minutes to be called back and then another 30 minute wait once I was in the exam room. No apologies for the wait from any staff. The MA was very abrupt and had such a look of dissatisfaction with her job. This is just my intro. When I left , the office had 10 people standing and every seat filled. I came with records that show kidney stone in right kidney. He glanced 10 seconds and dismissed my flank pain as being related to kidney stones. He ordered One blood test for uric acid, 24 hr Urine, ultrasound, urodynamics and cystoscopy. Every single tests came back confirming Stones and stumbled on some other issues. I had to call 9 times and never got a result. I am the one that ended up getting my own result from the lab, imaging place etc and calling Monica , his nurse, to inquire why he hasn’t yet replied to any of my calls. I had an MRI of my spine ordered by my orthopedist and it showed mild right hydronephrosis and ovarian cysts. You’d think he would have the courtesy and concern to call me and mention these things and the plan of care moving forward and send me to my GYN. Still weeks later, Monica Is fielding all his calls and crickets from Dr Sharpe. Hey dude, don’t take on so many patients if you can’t handle the care. Also, all of us are created equal but I’m a nurse who works on a renal oncology floor. I’m masters educated and been servicing patients for drs like you for 23 years. Give me my respect. After collecting my money and each test ordered comes with its own hefty deductible charge, AT LEAST address each test result as it comes in. I’m not an ATM and nor do I live in chateau elan like some of us do. I work hard to care for the patients that you drs get the big bucks for! In my days, there was something called professional courtesy. I am grossly dissatisfied with the lack of concern and follow up from dr sharpe. When I requested my records , it contained so much false documentation about weight discussions. He discussed constipation as a possible cause of pain although I never told him I’m constipated. He claims to have discussed weight loss. I have a pcp, cardiologist for PE’s, and a GI dr. They can discuss that with me. I have an orthopedic dr to address my spine issues from years of lifting patients. I came to DR sharpe for kidney stones. It was once so small it couldn’t be measured. Now it’s 6mm and possible signs of hydronephrosis as per the mri that I had done, on the same right side I’ve always complained about. I guess we’ll wait till I end up in acute renal failure or on dialysis ??? Well, good luck to the lay person whose drs can do no wrong. I know better and I’m moving on to greener pasture to save my kidneys. This opioid crisis is very sad cause people like me with real pain are forced to suffer for years with no medication, and still expected to work with a smile on their face like all is well with the world , while I watch patients with the simplest ailments and with known substance abuse issues being prescribed dilaudid, morphine , oxycodone etc All I can say is something is grossly wrong with healthcare and drs like this!!!!! This was our second visit to this office. When I called for an appointment and told them the problem I was scheduled the next day. The staff is friendly and professional and the office was very clean.

I was impressed with the amount of time he took,the options he gave me and with the possible out comes he projected. Seems to know what he was doing, as he should. As they say so far so good.

Was a great experience...usually I hate going to dr and am anxious but Dr. Sharpe kept things light and was just an all around good guy seemed to care if you had questions didn’t try to rush away to the next patient which is hard to find now days especially.

In 2018 I was diagnosed with kidney cancer and was referred to Dr. Sharpe for robotic surgery. I have only received the best of care from him and his staff. I really appreciate not being rushed when I have questions and concerns.

On Oct. 21 2019 I had a Urolift procedure performed by Dr. Brent Sharpe. The objective was to regain normal urine flow and control.The results of this procedure performed on my prostate has been very positive. Urine flow and control have essentially been restored to normal. Also I have been able to stop taking "Flomax" a drug with negative side affects. Dr. Sharpe is easy to talk to and explains matters in a clear manner. The only negative I experienced was significant difficulty in reaching his nursing staff when I had a question. When I did get through I receive the necessary help, but it was sometimes difficult. Overall a very positive experience and can certainly recommend Dr. Sharpe. I had a urolift procedure performed by Dr Sharpe on October 30 2019. The procedure worked as advertised. Before the procedure I was up 4-5 times a night to urinate, along with some retention. My sleep pattern was terrible. Since the procedure, I am up once and rarely twice, with no retention and all other symptoms minimal or gone. Dr Sharpe and the staff were excellent. My wait times were minimal and the medical staff were all very professional. I couldn’t be more pleased. I would recommend ( and have) Dr. Sharpe and the urolift to anyone. On one visit to the Longstreet Clinic ER a PA suggested seeing Dr. Sharpe. He called the office and Dr. Sharpe's staff worked us in on that very day. My husband has been treated by Dr. Sharpe for about 5 months, and he has never been to the ER since. When my procedure was done in the Braselton office , his assistant was helpful in explaining everything beforehand. They even offered “laughing gas” to make the procedure less painful! Dr. Sharpe was great. Wait time was longer than expected but it was fine overall. Despite being super busy, Dr. Sharpe took his time to make sure I was good to go before an upcoming procedure. He answered all of my questions. Will definitely be back for anything else needed related to this field. Would recommend him as well.

I had an appointment at GA Urology on July 9 after being in the Emergency room over the week end. The staff was very helpful and the appointment was on time. I arrived early to fill out the information as it was my first visit. The information was gathered on an electronic tablet. It was great as I only had to enter the information one time. Most Doctor's office have you fill out 3-4 forms with a lot of the same information being requested repeated on each form. It was stream lined and efficient. I was seen at the time of my appointment and the information exchanged was detail and Dr. Sharpe was engaging and polite. Considering that I was in a Doctor's Office, the experience was pleasant and helpful. I had an appointment at GA Urology on July 9 after being in the Emergency room over the week end. I highly recommend Dr. Sharpe. He has been very attentive to my issues and always makes time to talk to me and answer any questions. I went in for an issue that I had previous surgery for with another doctor that was unsuccessful. He was able to fix my problem and the whole office is very friendly and does their best to make you feel comfortable.

I've seen Dr. Sharpe on two seperste occasions for different procedures. I couldn't be happier with him, his nurse and his entire office staff.

Dr. Sharpe and the nurses were great. I was not pleased with the treatment my wife received in the waiting room. She was there due to your requirement as a driver was needed following a procedure. She was told to sit in her car even though it was 80 degrees and she has allergies. Mind you 2 woman walked in and neither were told to leave. I was having a procedure and my wife is told she can’t stay in the waiting room.

I recently went in to see Dr. Brent Sharpe for a small in office procedure and his staff was absolutely fantastic, couldn’t have been better or or courteous, made me feel welcome the Second I walked in. Very beautiful office as well. The nurses were very nice and knowledgeable as well as hospitable as well, made me feel very comfortable. Lastly, If you need a Urologist, without a doubt go see Dr. Sharpe, he’s literally a magician at what he does, his unique combination of bedside manner, efficiency, and quality of care is second to none! He is absolutely phenomenal and working in healthcare myself, I personally refer patients and friends to him. Thanks for everything Dr. Sharper you are a superstar!!

Dr. Sharpe performed the urolift procedure on me in his office. It was very painful and I left his office with a catheter. Afterwards, I had several urinary tract infections and had to to go to his office numerous times. His answer to every visit was antibiotics. Finally he did a urine culture and I tried to obtain the results for several days. When they finally did call me I was told to go to the ER immediately because I had a very bad infection. I was hospitalized for four days and had to get antibiotic injections every day for ten more days. I went to another urologist and had surgery to correct the problem. I hope this review helps someone who is thinking about getting this procedure done, especially in an unsterile environment such as his office

A good doctor does not withhold information from his patients. Especially when it involves cancer.

I'm not sure how Dr Sharpe received a rating of 4.8. Our experience with him has been hap hazard the entire time. Neither he or his office staff communicate. We have had multiple appointments only to find out the procedure that needed to be done could not be done - the first time because medication was not stopped 2 weeks prior. Those instructions were never given to us, although the Dr said he told me (the wife). 2nd time appt was scheduled but Dr couldn't make a decision because we did not have xrays - again we were not told to schedule them. Now again just left 3rd appt. And procedure that was scheduled could not be done because we didn't get xrays. This has been an extremely frustrating, unpleasant, and disappointing experience. When we complained we were basically told we were fortunate to have gotten treatment. I could go into more detail but it would take too much time. Whatever happened to Drs that care about their patients and serving them. We certainly haven't experienced that with Dr Sharpe. Once this is over we will definitely be finding another urologist. After years of dealing with a problem that other practices that never identified just tried to hand -aid with medications, Dr Sharpe identified and corrected my problem where others did not.
