Brian Nicholas Campolattaro

I met with Dr Campolattaro, in his NYC office. He took his time to examine my eyes. He explained in detail what he would be able to do to help me. We made an appointment to do my eye surgery a month later. Surgery was 100% successful!! I 100% recommend Dr Campolattaro.

Best doctor ever. I've had eye issues ever since I was 10 months old, and have needed a lot of support including eye exercises and multiple surgeries. Dr. C is the most kind, understanding, genuine doctor out there. He explains everything to you and makes sure you know what he's doing/thinking. I've had 3 surgeries and he has done 2/3 of them. His office is very crowded and wait times can be anywhere from 1 hour to 4 hours, but that just attests to how good of a doctor he really is. He is very flexible with appointments and finding a time that works best for you not for him, he will make time out of his schedule at 8 am or till 9 pm (personal experience.) I have also just gone for regular check ups and even with those he takes his time with you, he doesn't rush anyone out of his office despite how busy he might be, he cares about each person and has a passion for his job. Alongside going for regular check ups and having surgery done by him, he has also helped me when I had medical emergencies with my eyes, including having pieces of metal, plastic, M&Ms and a pencil stuck in my eye (all at different times) he was very understanding and helpful. He got all of those items out with ease. He isn't full of himself but also makes it clear that he can handle anything and everything and he is very confident he can help everyone.

DO NOT RECOMMEND for regular eye exam if you have United Healthcare insurance. Absolutely agree with the feedback regarding deliberate misleading as to billing. Even after confirming prior to the appointment and right after the visit that the appointment does not require an out-of-pocket payment based on the medical and vision insurance I provided to the front desk, this office charged $660 for a regular check up for prescription. After insurance, the fee amounted to around $400 out of pocket. When first called to resolve the issue I was told that it must have been a mistake which they were trying to fix. After another bill, the office said that I never called and they have no records of it. Even though they assuring me at the start that no out of pocket was required, they at the end used the excuse that it is patient responsibility to estimate how much it would be and ridiculed that there is no such medical term as “fully or 100% covered”. While it is understandable that issues might come up as part of dealing with insurance, the demeaning tone of the office representative was what was striking, without any attempt to understand the cause of this disconnect with a patient, which makes me assume it is a common standard practice that this office finds acceptable. The situation could have been avoided by simply providing accurate information from the start and in case of any unintended issues at the very least could be addressed in a professional manner with curtesy and respect. Unfortunately, the inadequate billing support and record keeping together with a lack of basic customer service skills by the office staff provide a negative impact and disservice to the great doctor, compromising the integrity and culture of the entire practice. It seems to be an ongoing issue and the doctors must be aware of this based on the other comments. However, it makes it seem that this practice does not put a great value on the culture of the practice and overall patient experience. I gave them the benefit of doubt after reading all the negative reviews and still went to see the doctor. It turns out all negative comments are true. To start with, the waiting time is ridiculous. The shortest waiting time which happened during the covid was an hour and 15 minutes, the longest was close to two and half hours! The staff and the billing department takes advantage of people's lack of knowledge about billing system and charges you way more than you agree to. Even when I confirmed with them on spot if certain procedure was covered by insurance or not, later they would claim that even if they said 'yes, it's covered by insurance', it doesn't exclude the possibility that I still had to pay. I told them I only needed a basic eye check-up for my kid and after received the bills I was then told, "no, we only do check-ups for problems because it's our specialty", "we didn't call you, you called us", "you should know what your insurance cover", "you should know what you come in for, we don't spend time explaining to our patients what check-ups include", "everybody comes to us says they need a check up, but we do what we need to do because we are ophthalmologists not optometrists'... total lies and lack of ethics. I am shocked to find such attitude / practice is allowed. It's blatant fraud, playing with the system and making the patient the victim of their mal-practice... The fact that this practice has survived on such basis for so long I doubt if the doctors are not aware of this at all...If that's how they manage to survive, we for sure will not come and waste our time any more. I have been visiting twice Dr. Campolattaro over the years with both of my children when they were 3 years old. Both times he was an excellent professional providing background information to our ophthalmological issues. But also, he was extremely nice and engaging with the children and was quickly able to gain their attention - by performing “magic” tricks. Ridiculously long wait times Such a shame because the doctor is fantastic. But wait times are inexcusable especially during covid with people packed in waiting room for hours.

God bless dis man he fixed my strambsis from years of being bullied and not knowing that it can be done I pray de lawd continue to bless Dr.Brain to continue to move mountains with his wonderful work and beautiful heart. He is de best hands down. I will recommend him to all who has strambsis.

Although he was expected to treat my strabismus he did just the opposite and made my condition worse!

I have concluded that I will likely never receive my records-After multiple requests from this office that many doctors have asked for. 10 stars for Dr. Brian for our multiple eye surgeries. But 1 for their awful records receptionist and no records request info on their site. The records transfer department lied about getting my records and when I pressed them told me it was $35 dollars to get them out of storage. Angela refused to just simply say the email over the phone instead spelling out letter by letter these words which made no sense and now has not responded to my professional email. Why would I send medical records over an email that isn’t on their website? I went to this doctor highly recommended by my pediatrician. When we walked into the waiting room there were a ton of people and I asked how long the wait would be to which they replied 3-4 hours. I was not told this over the phone and was shocked since I have two year old that would now miss a nap and her lunch. After we waited for an hour I told the receptionist I was going to wait outside and go change her diaper. The restroom had no changing station. She let me know she would tell me if they call our name. When I came back in and asked she said they hadn’t called us. After another 20 mins I checked with the nurse and it turns out they actually had called us. Instead of the receptionist apologizing she blamed everyone else (the person setting up the appt, the 188 patients) anyone but herself even though she said she would listen for our name. After that we waited another 15 mins to be called back. They dilated my daughter and told us they would call after 45 mins when they were ready. They did not call and after an hour I had to call to see what was going on. No apologies again just told to come in in another fifteen minutes. After waiting since 11:45 am. We finally got called back at 3:30 at which point we were told we were next. While sitting in a second waiting area I overheard the nurse say that another patient needs to be seen before us at the doctors request. This was at the NJ office. My daughter loves dr. Campolataro. He gets a million stars, he is knowledgeable, kind, funny and his love for kids shows.but, The system implemented by his office needs improvement. We had a wonderful visit with Dr. Wang. He is kind, brilliant, and efficient. We felt confident with his care. The receptionists were amazing too. There was a pleasant atmosphere and proper safety precautions enforced.

Dr Campolatarro just completed my six month old son’s cataract surgery. I couldn’t have asked for a better ophthalmologist. He’s wonderful- knowledgeable, gentle, and genuinely cares about each of his patients.

Dr. Camp is the best. Is very knowledgable, and has really helped my daughter with her eye care. We have been going to him since my daughter was 3 and she will not let any other doctor touch her eyes because he’s is soo patient with children. Highly recommend him

I am an adult and have had 2 surgeries performed by Dr. Brian Campolatarro. Not only is he a kind, caring and extremely knowledgeable but he is an amazing eye surgeon. I had 2 eye surgeries by another doctor before consulting with Dr Campolatarro. He put my mind at ease and was positive he could correct the issue. I am very happy to say he did just that. I don’t have enough words to express what an amazing doctor Campolattaro is. Two years ago I took my son for a regular eye exam before the beginning of Kindergarten & during that visit Dr. Campolattaroinformed me that our son had an issue in one of his eyes and needed surgery immediately. My son had an issue in the front and back of his eye and before performing the surgery Dr. Campolattaro referred us to another ophthalmologist (Dr. Phillip Ferrone), one of a handful of doctors who specialize in performing surgery in the back of the eye. After getting the same diagnosis from Dr. Ferrone I took my son for a third opinion with another excellent doctor and all 3 diagnosis aligned. My son needed surgery in the front of the eye and we decided to perform the surgery with Dr. campolattaro and we could not have been happier with the outcome. Not only is Dr. Campolattaro compassionate, has incredible bedside manners, but he’s just an incredible profesional, who is thorough and knows his craft. In the days prior to the surgery we had countless questions and Dr. Campolattaro gave us his cell phone # so we could reach him directly. He always returned our call the same day and even though we (as any other parent would) kept going back with more questions, he always found the time to address all of our concerns. On surgery day, he was punctual and made our son feel at ease. After the surgery he stayed on top of my sons recuperation and encouraged him and us along the way. It’s been two years since our son had surgery and he has regained nearly all vision in the affected eye, not to mention that because of how well Campolattaro performed the surgery, my son, thank God, did not have to have a second surgery to address the issue in the back of the eye. My son has been patching regularly for the last 2 years and will have to patch for the next 2 years which is OK with us as we have seen the results. My son has been incredibly mature about patching daily and I know that in part, we owe that to Dr. campolattaro as he always takes the time to tell my son what an incredible job he is doing with the patching. I highly recommend Dr. Campolattaro, especially for children with vision issues that might be more complex. His staff is caring and professional. So Dr. Campolattaro did surgery on my three year old. The place he does the surgery which is The infirmary on 14th was awesome. I never met his regular staff because my son’s father went to the visits but the staff at the infirmary was amazing. The nurses were so very nice, so professional, and just all around made me feel reassured and as calm as they could. The doctor was amazing. He did a great job on both my son’s eyes. He was awesome, calling from the OR after he was done to tell me on the phone that the surgery was a success. It’s a few weeks later and my son’s eyes look great. He’s healing so well. Waited for 2 1/2hrs for an annual checkup and met with the Dr. for 5 minutes. It's utterly ridiculous!!! When we got there both waiting area was packed with people. It's like a park/zoo. They were definitely overbooked but when asked they said it was normal. Patients were still going into the office at 4:45pm when there's a whole load of patients still waiting to be seen. It's a madhouse. They dilated my child's pupil and was told to wait in the waiting room for 15 min. which turned out to be close to 1/2 an hr. They have no respect for patient's time. This is our 1st and last time there. If he's that busy he won't have time for my child if we need him for something more serious. My child and I left the office feeling tired and beat. I was at my wits end. My 3 yo had bilateral strabismus. One doctor recommended surgery, another recommended a stronger lenses prescription. Neither of which set well with me. Out of the blue I got chatting to a lovely lady in a shoe store (whose son had the same glasses as my Dgt). We shared our stories. She highly recommended Dr.Brian... whom we met the following week. With such conviction, and empathy he told us our Dgt had no choice but surgery. Our now 7 yo has never looked back. She still wears glass but her eyes are now straight. We THANK that lovely lady and Dr. Brian so much! Now our 2 yo son is under his care! The reason why his waiting room is so full is because he is EXCELLENT!! I can't say enough Wonderful things about this doctor. After taking my child to a previous doctor who had over 30 years experience he did not observed my son had Strabismus. I was referred to Dr. Brian and immediately he diagnose my son. My son wore a patch for a year and this help the muscle in the weak eye to get stronger. My son is now wearing glasses for the past couple of years and his sight has improved greatly. Thank God for Dr. Brian. I can't say enough Wonderful things about this doctor. Dr. Campolattaro was awesome, my daughter is 7 months and she had a clog tear duct on her right eye. He was able to open it for her in the office without putting anesthesia within 5 mins . Dr. Brian is amazingly talented. I was so distraught when my daughter was diagnosed with bilateral Duane’s Syndrome. The doctor I went to first had given her glasses as treatment. After getting a second opinion from Dr. Brian, he perfomed corrective surgey to fix her cross eye as well as improve her vision and now she no longer needs glasses. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable but he is also very warm and caring which makes my daughter, my husband and I feel so comfortable and confident that she is getting the best possible care for her syndrome. I have been evaluated for surgery 3 times and was told 2 or 3 operations and no guarantee of a good outcome. Dr. Campolattaro is absolutely amazing. My son (Jay-Jay) had bilateral cataracts at the age of 7. He was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and most of all made me as comfortable as possible in regards to my son's eye surgeries. Dr Campolattaro is Amazing, I brought my 5 year old in today and I was highly concerned with her recent vision loss. He gave us his undivided attention, made the visit amazingly fun for our daughter and put us at ease with all of our concerns. He was super professional but also brilliant and personable. I would highly recommend him!

Dr.Camplotarro is the best!! My daughter was born with a cateract in her left eye and after researching we knew he was the one we wanted to trust w/ our child. She has had 4 eye surgeries with him n he is by far the best. She is now 9 and we come from NC just so he can do her yearly checkups. The staff is great. Always fitting me in. Evette is awesome as well. Never once did I have a bad experience in all my years going to him. EXCELLENT!!!

He is totally dishonest. Billed me for services we didn't receive.

I took my 4 year old to see Dr. Campolattaro's last week. I'd read reviews and so I braced myself for a long wait, but I have to say the 15 minutes we spent with him were worth it. Just take some snacks and toys for the kiddos. The staff was also great.

Dr. Brian Campolattaro is great! I had Strabismus surgery on both eyes and I was quite nervous about the procedure. Dr. Campolattaro did an amazing job and the recovery wasn't bad in the slightest. I highly recommend him!!!

I don't even know where to began, this review is way over due as I had my eye surgery 8 years ago. I was kinda of hesitant to go to him as he is a pediatric doctor and we'll im an adult. But he was able to treat my extropia in both eyes and, allow me to feel beautiful again. I wish I was able to have the surgery before my adult years as I was so depressed about my eyes and I never wanted to take pictures, because my eyes were never straight and ruined the photo. I encourage anyone needing help with eye conditions to see Dr. B.C...this surgery also allowed my blurred vision and headaches to go away as my eyes were strained trying to work together. Think twice before going to this doctor - the office staff is terrible

My 18 month old just got her blocked tear duck surgery done this morning at NY Eye and Ear by Dr. Campolattaro. She has recovered very well and up and running again in the afternoon.

My daughter was diagnosed with the same eye condition as my wife. Dr. Brian has so far done one lens implant which went smoothly and we are getting her second eye done this week. Let's start with the good: Dr. Brian is an amazing doctor. He's warm and friendly and has an incredible bedside manner and takes time to ask questions. The bad: normal wait time is 2-3 hours which frankly is ridiculous. The staff is ATROCIOUS at every office. Rude, incompetent, uncaring and should all be fired.

My daughter was diagnosed with Duanes Syndrome. On a referral we brought her to Dr. Campolattaro and it was the best thing we could have done for her. Not only is he an amazing surgeon but he is such warm and caring doctor. The office staff is friendly and we had a great overall experience.

My 2 kids had appointments for eye control, they were fine but after 2 minutes in the office Dr C. discovered my baby (who didn't have appointment and was there only because I didn't have baby sitter for her) has blurry eye and needs eye patch and glasses. I was impressed and shocked together. He made her all exams and it was confirm. I'm so thankful he discovered her problem now because she has high chance now fix her vision.

I have been a patient of Dr. Campolattaro for eleven years he is absolutley the best! Very warm, friendly ,welcoming and extremely knowledgable. I have a visual condition in which no other doctor could find a solution he did. This man is amazing

My child was prescribed the wrong glasses with the exact opposite problem for over 18 months. We told him that she was having a problem with the glasses that he prescribed but he rushed through the exam and again gave us the wrong prescription. His staff are discourteous and after waiting three hours I had to go to a new eye doctor who immediately recognized the problem. Now her eyes are damaged from being forced to wear the wrong glasses for over a year. His office is run like a factory!
