Fabulous experience! Dr. Mayeda is a kind and compassionate surgeon. He cares about his patients as people. Of course, he’s also incredibly skilled: a perfectionist! I wish I could give him more than 5 stars.

Dr. Mayeda has given me 2 new hips and I can’t thank him and his team enough. My pain is gone three weeks after this last surgery . He is an amazing communicator and better surgeon. Every step of the way his assistant Katie and his team kept me focused and informed on my health goals. I have new goals in life that are attainable because of him. Dr Brian Mayeda is the consummate Orthopedic Surgeon.He is very knowledgeable,highly skilled,kind and has a winning sense of humor.As a retired health care professional,I can attest to the fact that Dr Mayeda’s level of skill exceeds the vast majority of Orthopedic Surgeons in the greater Seattle area.It is also important to note that Dr Mayeda works in conjunction with a stellar Anesthesiology group.Of further note,his office staff are friendly and courteous.If Orthopedic surgery is in you’re future,I highly recommend without reservation Dr Brian Mayeda.

Dr. Mayeda replaced my hip this summer, literally giving me renewed interest in living. He gently and patiently described my status, what he would do, and what I could expect at every step. My surgery and recovery were perfectly uneventful, exactly as he said it would be. I am pain free for the first time in decades, even chronic and sometimes debilitating back pain are gone. Surgery suite staff staff, one after another, told me they like working with Dr. Mayeda’s patients because all do so well. I was in and out in about six hours, and walked two flights of stairs to home. His demeanor is positive, confident and reassuring, and just simply the sweetest. I would go back in a heartbeat if I needed another hip or knee. For adult reconstructive surgery he is the best!

I would highly recommend Dr. Mayeda! He recently did my 4th (and most likely final) hip surgery and everything about the process, from first meeting with him, to post-surgery follow up, was flawless. He is extremely professional, honest, warm, friendly, and obviously at the top of his game. He was very thorough in discussing options, procedures, expected outcomes, and came through on all fronts. A little background on why I know what I'm talking about: I had an Osteotomy in 1994 when I was 22 with a doctor out of state and it was a horrible experience. Another surgery in 1995, out of state, (another horrible experience). A total hip replacement in 1999 (and not a great experience either). That Doc said it would last up to 15 years (22 years ago). I am now 49 and was in massive pain for the last number of years. Dr. Mayeda did a hip revision and everything turned out exactly as he described it would. If you have any orthopedic needs, stop your search now, and see him!

Dr. Mayeda was positive, supportive, and very professional!! I would definitely recommend him to anyone needing hip or knee work! Soooo helpful both before and after surgery. I am absolutely cured and moving well.

Speaking as the the spouse of a very active, hard to slow down kind of guy who needed a hip replacement, I appreciated the time Dr. Mayeda took with both of us to explain the procedure, outline his expectations re pre/post-surgery protocols and recovery, and graciously and thoroughly answer our questions. Worth noting that he requires the partner/caregiver come to the pre-surgery appointment which was incredibly helpful and appreciated. (This in contrast to the first highly recommended surgeon my husband saw who spent five minutes with him before handing him off to his PA with a quick "I'll see you in pre-op.") Smiled at a previous post's "don't let the boyish youthfulness fool you"– about 30 seconds into the consultation, it's clear that Dr. Mayeda knows his stuff. Terrific surgeon, great outcome. Nursing care and surgical facility top-notch.

Dr. Mayeda's initial evaluation was comprehensive and informative. But more importantly, for me, as I did further hip surgery research, I developed many more questions and Dr. Mayeda was VERY accommodating to schedule further in-house consultation leading up the final surgery. And questions posed to staff were also promptly and graciously answered - no matter how trivial. He also graciously laid out his credentials and experience (don't let the boyish youthfulness fool you.) He has had a great deal of experience in traditional hip surgeries in Las Angeles and training from Cedar Sanai with the most updated hip replacement procedures. This truly paid off for me, I was fully ambulatory days (not weeks) after my surgery. My primary doctor had other patients he sent to Dr. Mayeda who had the same experience as I.

I was referred to Dr. Mayeda by my original surgeon when it became obvious that I had a very complicated problem that he could not figure out. I'm thankful that I landed in Dr. Mayeda's care. His course of treatment has given me freedom from the constant pain of many years and many surgeries. His no nonsense approach to solving my ongoing knee problems has been a breath of fresh air. I feel that I am getting the best possible care when I contact both Dr. Mayeda and his assistant Katie. I trust his decisions because they are made with me and he has always spent the time to make sure I understand every step along the way. I can't get back all the years of somewhat adequate care that got me to Dr. Mayeda's office, but I will continue seeing him for his exceptional care and that of his team.

I first saw Dr. Mayeda when my partial knee replacement started getting worse after a year and a half. The surgeon who did the surgery had retired. Dr. Mayeda was extremely thorough in his approach to the problem and that turned out to be a blessing. I had a low grade infection that apparently is rare after that much time. He thoroughly explained my options and prepared me for the challenge ahead. He removed my partial and installed a temporary implant while the infection was dealt with. He then did a complete knee revision so skillfully that I was walking within days without assistance. I am most impressed by his ability to explain things in a detailed but clear manner so that I understood exactly what he was talking about. He also takes time to make sure he has answered all questions. If I have had questions after going home I can call and always get an answer the same day from either him or his assistant, Katie. I highly recommend Dr Mayeda.

Blew my leg apart skiing. Two broken bones...usually a devastating injury that takes years to recover from. But the team at OPA - led by Dr. Brian Mayeda - was terrific. Excellent care pre- and post-op, with very clear communications every step of the way. I'll be back on the slopes next season with my titanium leg! Grateful for the team.

I was delighted with my consultation with Dr. Mayeda. He was thorough in his explanations in a manner that I understood, he was patient and answered all my questions. He was obviously passionate and focused and inspired great trust in him. My surgery went very well - I felt total concern about my recovery and I'm extremely pleased with my progress at 8 weeks post surgery.

i was having pain in my hips that was comparable to nothing ive ever felt before. Dr Mayeda made me feel so comfortable about the procedure. He educated me but at the same time didnt scare me. He was the most down to earth surgeon ive ever had....and ive had a few. i went into surgery with absolutely no fear what so ever. i knew this doctor had a passion for what he did, which further made me feel at ease. His bedside manner was second to none and i cant imagine ANY of my family goin g to see anyone else for this same procedure. Katie, his assistant, was also the best. she was so pleasent without the fake smiles and casual BS. The scale doesnt go high enough for this review so ill make my own.....10 out of five stars. thank you Dr Mayeda and Katie.

I was in a very bad spot. My artificial hip of 20 years, failed at Christmastime 2020. Emergency surgery was needed to repair. In "Covid time" , Dr. Mayeda made it happen for me. Trips into Seattle to see him, trips to primary care Dr. for clearance to operate, trip for covid testing. Dr. Mayeda performed surgery on Jan. 4th 2021 and on Jan. 5th, I returned home a new man. Three weeks later, back to Dr. Mayeda for a check up. I am basically walking with very little assistance and my incision is completely healed. (side note) for many years, my foot (on my artificial repaired leg) was totally numb - this surgery has somehow returned my foot to normal! Possibly a nerve issue? I would highly recommend Dr. Mayeda for a very professional, excellent experience and to be restored way beyond your personal anticipation of a pending surgery and hospital stay. I cannot say enough about Dr. Mayeda and his staff and how he made my life whole again.

Dr. Mayeda is extremely bright, quick, focused and passionate about his craft. Exceptional talent level, as evidenced by my result. I saw him initially, nearly crippled/immobile with frequent, agonizing pain in my left leg. Now, three weeks out from hip replacement surgery and NO PAIN with the exception of the surgical area/incision location where I experience some mild discomfort. Today, walking around with minimal soreness - up and down stairs, etc., without any notable issues. I'm truly astounded at the success of the procedure. The tremendous improvement in my overall health and well being is remarkable. Would I recommend Dr. Mayeda? What do you think?!

One of the most personable Drs I’ve ever come across. He never rushed me or made me feel that my questions or concerns weren’t as important to him as they were to me. He explained things in a common sense way with out a lot “Dr” technical verbiage, so I really understood what was happening. My hip feels great 5 days postop, and I have already referred him to a friend. Dr Mayeda is a wonderful asset to the Seattle Ortho Community!

Dr. Mayeda took care of my hip replacement. He is a conscientious, skilled physician whose demeanor and transparency inspire trust. He listens and then communicates effectively but with sensitivity in response to questions and concerns. Would definitely choose him again for complex hip replacement.

After 2 other orthopedic doctors did not feel competent in taking on my case due to the complexity of my hip dysplasia Dr. Mayeda inspired confidence in his ability to perform the surgery and gave me hope that I could resume my active lifestyle without the limitations and debilitating pain that I had endured for my entire life. I am a 37 y/o female who had run 60+ marathons, competed in Crossfit competitions and was a avid Olympic weightlifter. Dr. Mayeda's first question to me was "What do you want to be able to do?" That question set the path for his course of treatment! He was empathetic and caring and I never felt hurried. He spent over an hour with me each appointment. I am 3 weeks post op and already feel and move better than i have in years. He gave me back my "zest for life" and his care has inspired me to set new goals. I will be forever grateful for his care. Definitely one of Seattle's top doctors.

Dr. Brian Mayeda is an exceptional young doctor. So very down to earth, bright and professional all at the same time. He treated my son with care and concern and spoke to him at his level. As a mother he was patient to answer all my questions and concerns even in the extremely busy clinic as Harbor UCLA. Cant control the County Hospital atmosphere, wait time, and not nearly enough parking, but the care and doctors are excellent! Keep up the great work Dr. Brian!
