Brian D Powell

Dr. Powell is a skilled surgeon; I have no problems with his technical work. It is his complete lack of communication with the family, starting the day of surgery and moving forward that is unacceptable. He was also completely non-responsive to the hospital staff who took charge of his after-care--repeat attempts of the hospital provider to contact him went unanswered. This makes it impossible to recommend him to others.

We made an appointment for my granddaughter several weeks ago with Dr. Powell.Her appointment was at 3:15 PM. We arrived early and we saw Dr. Powell at 5:05 PM. No one came in during that time to explain the delay. He spent approximately three minutes in the room with us with no apologies. He suggested we have x-rays, but after looking at his watch,he decided we would do that another day. I suppose he was anxious to get home. Dr Powell and his staff are the best. Dr Powell explained the what was involved how long it would take including recovery time.

I only spoke with him briefly over the phone and it was business related. He was extremely rude and condescending. I'll never recommend him to any of our patients here.

I went to Dr. Powell with my foot and ankle broken in 2 places. I would never ever darken the door of this clinic again! He told me and forced me to walk in a boot all over his office and out of his office! I immediately went to another orthopedic! They told me I should never have put any weight on that foot at all! They put a cast on it and told me not to let it touch the floor for four weeks. If I had listened to Powell, and the rest of the people in his office, I would’ve ended up with major and multiple surgeries! Total incompetence!! Everyone is real nice but totally incompetent! Dr. Powell is very down to earth, but also very professional. He is very thorough when going over your medical condition and offers several choices for relieving or taking care of your medical issues. Dr. Powell is a wonderful doctor. He has seen both my son and my step-daughter and I always recommend him to all my family and friends. Dr. Powell cares. He is kind and patient and, from what I can tell, very skilled at his profession. He gets all the stars from me!

Dr Powell change my life! I’ve sought help with pain in my heels for over two decades- multiple doctors, surgery to steroids. A visit with Dr Powell and he identified a rigid genetic trait in my flexibility. Following a considerably simple surgery I have never walked smoother and my daily, horrible heel pain is GONE! I can say nothing but heartfelt good about Dr Powell.

Dr. Powell was very caring and explained my husbands condition in a way we could understand. He gave him an injection which helped a lot with the pain in his joint. I highly recommend Dr. Powell and excellent his staff!

Extremely frustrating. Not only did we wait a for approximately 50 minutes in the waiting room but then we waited another 50 minutes in the room. At this point I asked, "Is it going to be soon?". The response was, "He has one more patient in front of you." Meanwhile my wife's foot is swelling and toes looking like a package of hot dogs. It is hurting from sitting in a chair and the ibuprofen is starting to wear-off. By the way, it wasn't a follow-up visit. It was to determine, from the break, if she was going to need surgery. Very negligible in-patient care, debatable if it was to a punitive measure. Once we got home, Dr Powell called and apologized. He made some excuse about radiology taking forever. I asked, "If he knew about the problem when we arrived for possible rescheduling"? He then blamed the front office staff for the wait. Dr. Powell took time to explain my options after learning of my lifestyle. Gave me the pro's and con's to each options. He seemed to really care about me as a patient.

Dr Powell is very professional, understanding and kind. He does not pressure you into something you are not ready for and he is willing to listen to you as well as present options. He has explained more to me about my condition than any other doctor in the past.

Dr. Powell fused on my toe last January. He's very positive and good at what he does. I know because he operated on me. His office staff is wonderful... they are quick and efficient it's overall a really good experience. I like him alot.

I'm now 81 and have put of seeing a podiatrist all my life since seeing what one did to my mother's feet years ago. I was SO pleasantly surprised with my visit to Dr Powell. He was so great and gentle even though some of the prodding and pushing was uncomfortable. It was decided to try shots in both feet to see if it would help with my foot pain after waking and or standing for a period of time. The shoes hurt a little, but over all I'm extremely pleased with my first experience. I'll see him again in three months. Dr Powell and his staff were very professional and especially polite and compassionate and specially for someone who is in pain because I put off surgery for 5 years. He was very thorough in his exam, but also the damage that needed to be repaired. He gave several possible options and let the patient decide. Even though I knew that he knew the best option was immediate surgery, he purposely did not show favoritism. He states the problem, shows it on your body and also the x-ray and tests and then provides options both surgical and non-surgical for the patient. He speaks to his patients as if they are intelligent, all of them! That is very rare among surgeons! He didn’t know I am an aerospace engineer. Dr. Powell is always happy, thorough and listens before prescribing. Hiring him at the Ogden Clinic Professional South Building was a great move by Ogden Clinic administrators. He has already helped me in alleviating long term pain in my legs in 2019. And now he is helping me deal with a gout flareup that has made being active impossible. Dr. Powell is personable in a professional manner. He gets to the point, provides the information then allows you to decide. Every time he has worked on me, other doctors are impressed with the results. He works well with my other care givers.

Really appreciate Dr. Powell and his staff. I’ve seen a number of different practitioners over the past years, but my interactions with him (and his staff) have been one of the best experiences with an MD (and I grew up as a hospital brat!). Would DEFINITELY recommend Dr. Powell if you have issues or conditions with your feet and/or ankles. Update: approximately seven-weeks post my second surgery with Dr. Powell. Both procedures went fantastic, and the follow up visits have been great. I am definitely grateful for the pain relief in both of my feet, and truly appreciate being under the care of Dr. Powell and his staff. First time seeing Dr. Powell. Was very impressed with his friendly disposition. He explained in simplified detail the problems with my feet. His recommendations were helpful and informative. I did not feel rushed, I felt comfortable and was impressed with my overall experience with Dr. Powell.

I have had 4 ankle surgeries and needed a 5th after an acute injury, was ready for a new surgeon. Dr Powell's staff was amazing, Lisa is so helpful, and insanely patient as this was not my first rodeo and I had endless questions. Dr Powell spent a great amount of time with me, was also patient with all my questions and challenges and made me feel completely confident in my choice to have surgery with him. I fractured my ankle in 3 places right before Christmas, Dr powell was the Dr that seen me in the ER and when he found out I didn't have insurance promised he would help me no matter what. I needed a pretty major surgery. He said to go to his office and that he would not charge me for that first visit. I made an appointment went in to see him and he came in the room spoke to me for 5 mins and basically said the surgery will be too expensive for you so here's another Dr that might do it, said good luck and left. And even after the promise of not charging me I am now being harassed and threatened to be taken to court over $200.00. funny thing is I went to McKay Dee surgical center had my surgery and financial asstassist pain for almost the whole surgery. He's an awful human being for treating me like I was nothing just because I didn't have insurance. I believe that Dr. Powell took the time to really understand my feelings towards what happened to me. He is a Physician that will listen and respect you as a patient and person. There are many physicians who just do anything to get you out the office quick. I never felt rushed or even pushed. Dr. Powell is a great doctor.
