Update: He retired. I have been coming to Dr. Stark since the late 1990s. I have found him to be efficient and very capable. The office is well equipped for testing and diagnosis as well. He has seen me through eye injuries (bits of metal and other debris in my eyes), early symptoms of macular degeneration, and an infarction of my retina. He does not sugar coat it, but I don’t need it sugar coated. He’s trained in matters of the eye, not to be a therapist. My vet is probably the worst people person I have ever known, but she’s damn good with my animals and I’d rather have an eye doctor who’s damn good with eyes over a charming bedside manner. I’ve also been to Wills Eye Institute and had similar brusque treatment, so again, I’ll take competence over compassion when it comes to my eyesight. Update: He retired. This was the most unproffesional appointment I've expoerenced in years. The techs do the exams with no specialized training. She got defensive when I asked what her training was and she told me none. She said the drs at the practice teach them. I then saw dr stark who rushed thru my diabetic exam.

Very disappointed with Dr. Stark and his practice and I will never go back. The staff is sullen and rude. The rotund, older woman at checkout takes the cake for being one of the rudest women I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. The techs are fine, but they shuffle everyone around like cattle between various rooms. Dr. Bruce Stark's aim in life appears to hinge on how many patients he can rush through per hour. He comes rushing in, hastily completes the eye exams and rushes out. He spends very little time discussing the patient's needs and also has a tech beside him entering whatever he blurts out into the computer. He doesn't even verify what the tech has entered and rushes out. He also has no redeeming interpersonal qualities and would make Emily Post roll around in her grave. All in all, there is so much choice out there, I cannot understand why anyone would go to this doctor. I am definitely done with this practice after having gone there couple of years in a row due to their proximity. I will travel far to find a better practice and a more personable, astute Doctor. Had to have cysts removed on eyelids. Dr. Stark and his assistants were professional and helpful. However, front desk employees are not friendly at all. Equipment lighting faulty had to go to 3 different rooms until everything was ok. Not sure if I want to return.

Unfriendly staff - not knowledgeable. Had several tests done with professional techs then Dr. Stark walked in as if he could have cared less about me and what my issue was. Was rough, Told me nothing except I had dry eye and should get drops. Wondered why I had a certain test done. staff told him it was because of the finding last time I was in. 'Oh..I guess I should look at that'. Completely uninterested, rushed, unprofessional. I would not recommend him at all.

This was the worst appointment in all my years of doctor appointments. Dr Stark was in a hurry though he stated he was having a slow day. Dr Stark looked in my husbands eye and informed my husband " you have cancer!" Are you kidding me?!! What is the matter with a well educated physician saying something as heart dropping as "you have cancer." My husband may very well have cancer tumor in his eye; but Dr Stark was unable to give any further information. The one piece of medical advise he could give us was "make an appointment at Will's Eye in Philadelphia". Done and moving on......
