Dr. Bryce Alan Johnson

I literally just canceled my upcoming appointment with SCOS. The schedulers are horrible. They are not doing their jobs. I have never experienced this level of pure stupidity in my entire life. Dr Johnson himself was fine. He's professional and answers one's questions To be clear though, my back issue is not resolved, so there's that. The MRI folks are fine. I've had my son see another doctor in the past for his shoulder, he was great. Unfortunately, the schedulers are TERRIBLE. The issue: I wanted to schedule a follow up with Dr. Bryce Johnson and not the physician assistant for a specific reason. That was literally not possible according to Lorena the scheduler. This is after a lot of run around by the way. I hope Dr Bryce Johnson reads this so that he is aware. The specific reason I needed to speak with him is because the spine specialist he referred me to gave me the direct opposite advise from what Johnson gave. Johnson basically said PT for 4 weeks,

My wife and I went in when my wife was suffering badly with back pain and the doctor came in and sat down crossed his legs and said what can I do for you? I'm a surgeon and can't help you! Turns out going to Cedar Sinai she has a fractured tail bone And Was recommended for Surgery ASAP

I highly, highly recommend Dr. Bryce Johnson! He is an outstanding surgeon, and in every step of the way of my care, he inspired confidence and trust. Something you really want in a surgeon! He is personable, was thorough in answering my questions each time I saw him and I never felt rushed. He's efficient as well and straight to the point, I appreciate that. His PA Tony is excellent also. With spine surgery you're not as quick to find a surgeon or even to have surgery, but as it became clear it was necessary... after much research, and my primary care doctor telling me Dr. Johnson is who he would go to, he was my first choice. In addition to the attention and care I received and as well as the speediness of this place, I really appreciated that they had 2 counters to check in. The check in process was super easy and I love the fact that you can download the PDF of new patient forms so you can fill them out at your leisure prior to. Granted my reason for visiting was probably one of their easiest to assess, I wasn’t waiting long to be called. My appointment was very Brisk he took 15min w me then excused me like a child. I feel I may have dodged a bullet w this guy. He did not give any interest in my case. Never once looked at the papers given to show symptoms and locations of pain. He would agreed w just about all that I asked is ok to do. Very professional office. Dr was very helpful in helping me make a decision for my health.

Had a back issue, having a lot of problems getting back to doing things normal. Was hoping the doctor could shed some insight and all he told me to do was go to therapy and everything just seemed rushed. Really appreciated my visit with the doctor. He explained in detail why he doesn’t think surgery is the best option for me. Very relaxed conversation. He didn’t rush me at all. He was patient and answered all my questions after reviewing MRI results.

Dr Johnson is an excellent orthopedic doctor! Above all he has a compassionate heart for his patients. I would strongly recommend him!

After months of arm and shoulder pain and going through various therapies to address it, I found out I had a herniated disc in my neck. Once this was pinpointed through an MRI, I was discussing neck surgery with Dr. Johnson - something I had not even contemplated! He was very personable and compassionate, understanding my concern being a very active person and wanting to continue enjoying tennis, hiking, skiing, etc. He spent a good amount of time looking at my MRI, discussing options, and answering my many questions. After receiving a second opinion (which confirmed Dr. Johnson's), I proceeded ASAP with artificial disc replacement surgery, a minimally invasive procedure. I'm happy to say that just under three weeks post-op, I am pain free! I'm now able to return to normal activities. I'm truly amazed and grateful to him and to the staff at SCOS and Saddleback Surgery Center. All the nurses were also so caring and competent. I highly recommend Dr. Johnson and SCOS!

Did not spent anytime explaining or showing my MRI report why I was having back pain. Was very cryptic and even his staff was not very cooperative. Did not give any good guidance about next steps. Will not recommend anyone going to this place for any health related issues.

My appointment was waiting about 5 minutes. Dr Johnson answered my questions. I didn’t feel rushed I would recommend Dr Johnson.

Unfortunately I can’t recommend SCOS to family and friends as I have in the past. I had knee replacement surgery and nerve blocks for my shoulder. I don’t know what happened to this place but it has gone way down hill from where it was. I went there to have my back looked at and after an MRI and CT the surgeon told me I have stenosis and needed surgery. I then the nightmare started…the doctor never put in the order for surgery. After many phone calls the answer was the same “ I’m still waiting for the doctor to put in the order” and as of today I still haven’t heard back. I decided to go back to Newport Orthopedic and after seeing Dr. Lee I have the ball rolling and the surgery is planned for the first week of October. I am truly disappointed with SCOS and the surgeon there. There is one person I would like to thank and that’s Denise who is the scheduler for SCOS. She was very helpful. I was referred to Dr. Bryce Johnson for my lower back pain. He is very knowledgeable and explained everything to my questions.

Have had neck pains for the last 3 weeks. Was referred to Dr. Johnson by my primary physician. Came in for a quick check up. Was told that I would be referred to a local office for physical therapy. It’s been 5 days. Haven’t heard back. My pain is still there and not getting much better. Oh well might have to drink some more tequila to numb the pain.

These reviews are appalling!! Dr. Johnson was the 4th surgeon that I saw in a 11 month period. My insurance kept denying my back surgery due to my age (they claimed I was too young, I was in my mid 30’s) even though I had a herniated disk, I had spinal fluid leaking out into my body, all my nerves were compress, among a couple other things. I did everything my insurance made me do, I had 3 epidurals, went to physical therapy in and out of the water 4x a week and saw a pain management doctor! I was walking with a walker when I met Dr. Johnson and his amazing staff! They all fought for me and with in 2 weeks they got my surgery approved! Here I am almost 4 years later and I feel better then I have since 2008! I no longer live in CA but I would fly back there without any hesitation if I had any issues again! They were quick and efficient, and had new technology in office. Dr. Johnson was so kind, thorough, caring, patient, and attentive. It was a quick visit but not at all rushed. Dr. Bryce Johnson is my hero! I had two bulging disc‘s in my back and sciatic pain all down my right leg. I went to see Dr. Johnson. He does not like to jump into surgery so I first tried therapy and pain management. We quickly realized I was not getting any better and needed surgery. They scheduled me as soon as they possibly could because they knew the amount of pain I was in. My surgery was an absolute success! I had been in debilitating pain for nine weeks prior to my surgery. I could not work, I could not drive, I couldn’t even sit in a chair without excruciating pain. After my surgery, they have you sit in a wheelchair to be wheeled out to your car. I kept telling the nurse, “ I don’t want to sit down, it’s so painful to sit down!”. The nurses would not budge, and I slowly sat down in that wheelchair completely fearful of the shooting pain that would search through my body. I sat down for the first time completely pain-free in that wheelchair that morning. I just started crying because I was so happy to be pain-free. It was as if a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders . Other than the healing of the actual incision, I have been pain-free for four years. I am so grateful to Dr. Bryce Johnson and his staff. My sister is in sports medicine/PT and when she knew that I needed to see a spinal surgeon, she went to all her resources, referrals and people she trusted. Waited 45 minutes for a 2 minute doctor review of my neck. While waiting I could hear him having a very lengthy conversation regarding travel etc. Doctors, our time is just as valuable as yours. I have no confidence that I would let this doctor do anything to my spine

Great Bedside Manner Dr. Bryce Johnson is a great Spine Surgeon,; who just a while ago this morning happily answered a ton of questions about my upcoming Spinal Fusion Surgery. This Surgery had to be rescheduled because of family plans I made months ago. He gave me excellent advice on when I could safely travel after surgery. His staff (everyone when you walk in) is excellent. His Medical Assistant(s) are great. Dr. Johnson’s knowledge on, Surgical techniques, hardware are excellent. I must say I was taken aback when I first met Dr Johnson, I was looking for a caring, empathetic doctor but then I realized he is a surgeon and is the best at what he does. He means business. I wished that I listened to him when he said that I need to have surgery ASAP. My surgery took an hour and 15 minutes and he came out and talked to my family and assured them that everything went well. As soon as I was able to walk, I have noticed that 90% of my pain was gone. I took a risk with Dr Johnson and it paid off. The staff he has are all professionals. They are warm, caring and knowledgeable. You won't go wrong with Dr Johnson and his team. Dr. Johnson is a great surgeon, I have had 2 surgeries, and both have exceeded my expectations. I am 61 and did not expect the great results we have gotten. I almost did not see Dr. Johnson because he was my second opinion and my first was such a disaster that I was not going to go see him. But my wife said we already have it set, so lets go and see. It turned out to be the best decision I ever made, unlike my 1st opinion he listened and let us ask questions and answered in terms we understood.

Dr Johnson is a wonderful doctor! After listening to me describe the issues I was having with my back and going over my MRI with me, he told me that he could do a minimally invasive surgery on my back. The first doctor I saw was at Hoag in Irvine and he told me he would have to do a full open back surgery and that I had a 50 - 70% chance of improvement. Dr. Johnson told me I would have an 80% chance of improvement. It's been 3 months since I had surgery and I feel like a new person!

Dr Johnson is an outstanding doctor. He performed spinal fusion on my neck. He not only explained the procedure in detail to alleviate any fears and concerns that I had, but his bedside manner was extremely good. He cares about his patients and their well being. I would recommend him highly and would see him again if I ever needed an orthopedist in CA , again.

My appointment with Dr. Johnson was full of optimism, but that ended moments after he entered the exam room. He spoke and acted as if he could care less, seeming almost arrogant, but then some of the other doctors in the group (A REAL MEAT MARKET OPERATION) acted arrogantly, dismissive and with an extreme urgency to end the session as quickly as possible and Dr. Johnson was most definitely just that way! Dr. Bryce Johnson recently treated me for sciatic pain. After six weeks of conservative treatment Dr. Johnson recommended lumbar surgery. Throughout my treatment, Dr. Johnson demonstrated his knowledge and professionalism in treating sciatica. He only recommended the surgery that was necessary to help my condition. I highly recommend Dr. Bryce A. Johnson. I was in excrutiating pain with nerve issues and after receiving conservative care under another physician it was determined I needed to seek an Orthopedic and Neuro surgeon. I did both and was completely convinced after meeting Dr. Johnson I would be in good hands. I feel at least 90% better since my spinal fusion surgery and getting better each day. Dr. Johnson and his staff including his PA, Tony and coordinator, Candace are awesome! So thankful
