Carlos Porter

The place is a revolving door (doctors, PAs, office staff). In 3 yrs I've seen Dr Porter 3 times for approx. 5-7 min. He's acts like he has ants in his pants and it seemed he didn't familiarize himself with my medical record. No wonder he has to have 5 facilities to bring $ in to keep hiring employees. Staff will not let you talk to a doctor or PA via phone even if you were there a few days before, you HAVE to go in (so you can wait forever and they can bill, bill, bill!!!).

Totally incompetent!!! FINALLY get a pre-opp appointment. Have bloodwork and chest x-Ray done both places say results will be sent to Porter in 1 to 2 days and we have appointment set for ONE WEEK LATER but now they call on Friday and want to reschedule his appt for NEXT TUESDAY because they don’t have results. I asked if they could check w/lab & hospital because they were done 4 days ago instead of rescheduling an appointment that isn’t until NEXT WEEK. Their reply NOOO they have to reschedule. I wouldn’t recommend this doctor (who you never see anyway) . Worse medical office I have ever dealt with !!

Good luck getting results and getting a call back to many PA”s they don’t know what what’s going on cause u see so many different people was better when wasn’t as big with so many locations sad to say I will be leaving after 14 years

We have visited this group multiple times. Each visit we experienced rude and unprofessional. people. Any attempt to acquire referrals is a complete waste time. Find another.

I was his patient for 11 years and he kept wanting me to get lab work. I told I was fine he said your not a doctor I said don't need to be one to know how I am feeling. He said I cry wolf everything I go to the office and threatened me if I didn't get lab work I have to go to other Doctor. So I stood up and left his office for good.

Definitely not...Providing the highest degree of family healthcare. The staff is nice but the company's customer service overall is very poor. You cannot reach anyone via phone or their website. Was in and out quickly and provided addressed all my issues

Absolutely the worst physicians office I have ever encountered. I only ended up here because my Doctor of 20 years retired. I have seen numerous PA’s never the doctor and get different information on my issues. Now I’m trying to get a billing statement for over 3 weeks now because they are quick to charge but no details of what they are charging you for. Getting through to billing is the worst. No one ever answers you are sent to mailbox. Just tried scheduling and sent to mailbox. Frustrating! Absolutely ridiculous!! Not another visit with this practice!!! I've been seeing doctor Carlos Porter he was extremely knowledgeable and very professional. I highly recommend he cares about his patient health condition. I really appreciate you doctor C. Porter

Went several times thinking I would have a better experience but it didn't happen. Staff is rude and unhelpful, take too long to get back to you. Only saw the doctor once, there after it was only the PA's . Once, the office charged me wrong and even though I gave them notice in writing, they refused to offer a refund, only office credit. Why would one want office credit if one doesn't want to return? Avoid this practice.

My grandmother had been a patient of Dr. Porter for YEARS. She was 91, had a heart valve that was going out, she had diabetes, and pancreatis. None of this he really knew because he has too many locations and therefore makes his PA’s see his patients. Then, my grandmother suddenly passed away in her home this morning and he REFUSED to sign the death certificate because he claimed he didn’t think there was reason for her to have died. Mind you, Dr. Porter was on vacation so he was too lazy to actually check her records OR given us any sort of alternative to have her death certificate signed. So now my poor grandmother is sitting in the city morgue because her damn doctor was too lazy to check a very loyal patient of his. Sickening. Absolutely the worst. Heaven help you if you need a prescription filled. There is only one doctor and 4 or 5 PA’s that obviously dont interact with each other I’ve been trying to get a prescription filled for weeks and go round and round. I had to get blood work , did it, saw the dr. and now they want me to go back again, because the new PA Leah has no clue I already got all of that done. I honestly must say I really appreciate this doctors office. I got upset with the billing manager and I was rude to her. Granted she was human and expressed aggravation at my shortness but did come back with a detailed explanation of my billimg question. I did apologize to her for being short with her and she was receptive and kind! The whole staff here are very caring and patient. They try their best to explain everything and I really appreciate their patience even when I was having a bad day. The level of care is amazing and I know they care about the people that walk into that office...even the ones who are having bad days! Runs his Association like a crooked used car lot. Takes advantage of seniors on Medicare and supplemental insurance

Staff is incompetent and not helpful. They take days to get back to you and resolve issues. Abuse of constant laboratory tests even when your numbers have not changed. Ridiculous to go in to get refills for prescriptions.

Dr. Porter is an outstanding physician. the negative is with wait time on the phone. You also have to go thru a list options. You pick an option and you are told to leave your name and number(Which takes hours to return). or you are place on other option and have to go thru the whole thing again. I waited as long and 20 min when placed on hold. I am very close to leaving that clinic.

I have never been treated so badly by the office manager. He was rude arrogant and threatened to call the police on me which he did, I had been a patient for a little more than a year. I then told the desk that I would not be returning. If I had waited for the police I know that I would not be arrested. It was not worth my time. Took my father Thursday worst mistake I ever did. Instead of being thankful the patient did make it. Well he's 15 min late. So he won't see Dr.Porter. Some patients can't just jump out of bed like they use to. Then the nurse practitioner no. I could tell my dad was getting upset. I was looking for a new PCP because of Dr. Martin Weisenthal's retirement, who I had been seeing for the past 30 years. Was referred to Dr. Porter. Unknowingly, when I made my first appointment thinking I would see Dr. Porter, I ended up being seen by a PA. I would think my first visit to the doctor's office, I would see the doctor and not a PA. The PA ordered some tests and after he left the examining room I had some additional questions about the tests. I told the "nurse" I had some additional questions and if I could talk to the PA. She left the room and when she came back she said she talked to the PA and he just cancelled the test. I did have a request for blood work, which I immediately went up to LabCorp in the same building. They took my blood after sticking me three times. They got back with me to let me know my bloodwork showed that my potassium was high, that I need to have bloodwork done again before my follow up visit. I had my blood work done again at LabCorp. Once again, they stuck me three times. Two days before my follow up appointment, I received a call that my potassium was higher than the last test and I needed to go to ER. Did not feel like I needed to go to the ER and told them I would see them at my follow up appointment. At my follow up visit the PA once again stressed that I needed to go to ER. The PA decided to have the "nurse" in the office draw my blood. She tried twice and could not find my vein and gave up. They then told me to go up to LabCorp to draw my blood. I went up to LabCorp and they were closed. I then decided I had no choice but to go to the ER. Got to the ER and they drew my blood with one stick and did an EKG. I showed them my lab work from LabCorp. From the lab work, the doctor told me my kidney, heart, and liver functions all looked normal, that the potassium was probably a false reading. Why couldn't Dr. Porter's office tell me this. Both my EKG and blood work came back normal. I guess I am still looking for a new PCP where I actually see the doctor and I will never go back to the LabCorp where Dr. Porter's office is located. I've have been with this facility for over 3 years, I have been pleased until now. The long wait in the waiting room is horrible. My appointment at 10:45 am it's 11:20 am. There are 3 people who are waiting and no one has been called back. One person just walked out! I'm happy with the service provided by the doctors, however the waiting time is unbearable. This location is located on Westover hills near highway 151. There was a recent change in my PA, she is no longer at this facility. This may be the reason why it's taking so long. Requires patients to come in too often!! Blood work is extreme. Need a refill? Requires you to go in even if you have just seen the doctor!!!!’ Never get to see Dr Porter always se the PA.

Very slow. The front desk assistant is very slow and acts like she doesn’t want to talk to any patient that comes to the window. You don’t get a welcoming feeling come here. Medical assistant’s are very slow. Don’t seem organized. I seen people waiting for an hour. My husband took my father to Porter Medical at the Medical Location this week and I have to say that his experience was a great one. He is originally from the valley and came here to get a second opinion and a referral to a pulmonologist and cardiologist. He went in, signed in..and was quickly called up to the window. He was greeted by a very nice girl who asked for his paperwork, insurance card & picture ID. He was handed his information back and told to take a seat. Once he got called to the back, everyone was very welcoming. They explained everything they were doing while taking his vitals. Very professional environment. Once in the room, they waited about 15 min for the provider to walk in. PA Caudill did an amazing job asking my father questions about his medical history and trying to put all puzzle pieces together. She explained in detail what her steps would be moving forward. Luckily my husband was there to translate everything in detail to my father. Before dismissing them from the room, she went on to tell him that his medication was sent to the pharmacy of his choice and that they would request his medical records for his future office visit. At checkout, the lovely girl took his picture for his chart and explained in detail what his next office visit would consist of. She handed him all his paperwork and again confirmed his appointment before leaving. Everything from beginning to end was a great experience. With the exception of the receptionists this office is horrible, his PA is very condescending took me off all my medications, I was very sick and in severe pain. I never went back to this horrible horrible place. One week later I found a new Dr here in town and spent over a month in the hospital with Anka-P Vasculitis which can only be treated with chemotherapy. You pay these people to treat you and trust that they are doing the right thing. Please DO NOT GO HERE. Very bad drs office

Dr. Porter is the best. He has been my doctor for 16 years and I wouldn't think of finding another doctor despite the fact that he has a very nasty woman in the office area who is loud, rude and thoughtless. She has made me kind of afraid to even go see my doctor. I also had one instance when I had an appointment with one of his PA's and this PA shared a confidential conversation that I had with her in the examination room and shared it with a non-med employee in the office. UNPROFESSIONAL!!

AMAZING IMPROVEMENT OVER THE LAST 2 YEARS! I have been a patient for 15+ years and chose to stay with Dr.Porter because of his AMAZING care for me. The staff is very friendly and helpful with any concerns you may have. Amazing office manager Cindi, what an amazing job on turning that place around. I 100% recommend this doctors office.

I actually went to his downtown office; 1303 McCullough Ave Ste. 533. There was coffee in the waiting room and also TV. I received very good care. Dr. Porter listened to me and had a great bedside manner. His staff are very professional and friendly. His nurse, Karen was very competent and actually took my Blood Pressure by hand which is more accurate. I needed a small procedure done and Dr. Porter was able to do it right then. I am pleased with my care and certainly recommend him. Downstairs in the building is this small café that has the same owners, cooks for decades. THE best soup. I was very happy to see them still there. They also offer fountain and can sodas. Also on the 1st floor is White Cross Pharmacy with half of the store being girly things like "I love Spurs pins, garb, purses" among other unique items. I bought two pill boxes!! Nursing staff argue with patient on how things need to be done. And office manager will back them up and make it look like they are being miss treated and not stick for the patient.

I have been seeing Dr. Porter for about 12 years, the past year has been hell at his office. Tony, Erica and the ladies at the front desk were always so helpful and extremely sweet, but when he cleaned house he hired all of the wrong people. Nobody seems to give a damn about anyone. The office had flooded one Friday and all appts were cancelled... Completely understandable, but they had pretty much triple booked everybody. People were extremely irritated and it didn’t help that everyone in the office was extremely rude!!! I had an appt and was charged the incorrect amount. Little did I know that when I went back for the follow up I had to pay an additional amount for labs that Jennifer at the front did not include? VERY UNORGANIZED! Now I am fighting with bill collectors on payments that I have already paid to the front desk. I have also left three messages for Dr. Porter but because of the incompetence of the front office I have no faith that any of them have reached him. Good luck to anyone attending his office.
