Charles Lonnie Getz

The older I get, the bigger the chance I have of experiencing shoulder problems. A decades-old shoulder injury that I sadly underestimated when it first happened became a major issue at age 67. I had atrophied muscles from the 1978 injury as well as a thoroughly torn rotator cuff after pitching horse shoes. I was finally referred to Dr. Getz and entrusting my shoulder to him was a great decision. He restored my right shoulder in a seemingly miraculous fashion. Four years later, he repaired a torn rotator cuff on my other (left) shoulder. His brilliant skills got me through once again! His easygoing and friendly manner really made me feel as if I was being treated by a great and talented friend. I have the absolute highest regard for Dr. Charles Getz as well as his excellent staff and recommend him to all!

Dr. Getz put me back together after an accident. I can’t thank him enough for his expertise and exceptional care. His staff at Rothman and Main Line Health were outstanding through the entire process. Excellent communication, professional and caring on a personal level. I was having pain and weakness in my right arm and shoulder. I felt comfortable working with Dr. Getz and will follow his recommendation for physical therapy (PT). I've been in PT and performed exercises at home for a few months. There has been improvement and I will continue until discomfort goes away and arm strength is improved.

Would recommend Dr.Getz in a heartbeat. He was extremely pleasant and took the time to talk to you along with his staff.

On time, listens to your problems and tries his best to fix them! Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Dr. Getz is one of those rare doctors who actually Listens to patients' concerns. He has been helping me navigate shoulder pain for over teo years, offering a minimally invasive pain control plan, and keeping an eye on any progression of symptoms. He is a rare find, Indeed! I highly recommend him and his courteous, helpful staff.

Dr. Getz has operated on both shoulders for rotator cuff tears and other problems. Both surgeries went extremely well. His office visits run on time. Office staff is professional, knowledgeable and friendly.

Had reverse shoulder surgery had multiple shoulder dislocations had revision done same results dislocations . 10 months later my life been altered still in sling . This surgery has risks and you should be aware of !!!

Dr Getz surgically reconstructed my elbow 6 years ago when I was about to retire. Multiple grafts, among other things, were needed to repair elbow tendons dissolved by liberal injections of cortisone by another ortho. Several orthos were reluctant to perform the operation because of its anticipated complexity. Since the surgery, I’ve played hundreds of rounds of golf without a problem with the elbow. You can trust Dr Getz. His staff is top notch also.

Dr.Getz and his team are the best! And the PT at rothman also aces. Its along haul back im almost 3 months out from surgery on my right rotator cuff and slowly making progress. He's an expert and comes across that way very professional and a sense of humor aswell. Great place to get well.

Dr Getz was amazing. My surgery went smoother than I ever could have expected. His decision not to do arthroscopic surgery made the healing process quicker and pain free. Appointments were always punctual. Definitely recommend Dr Getz.

Surgery went well with the notable exception of a botched recovery from the anesthesia I was given. The anesthesiologist choose to give me a cocktail that made me feel as if I had taken an overdose. I felt as I never fully recovered until hours later. That evening I vomited twice. Couldn’t hold down anything. Second time was violent and I emptied my guts, but felt instant relief. I never received an adequate explanation as to why I was given an additional pain killer during surgery, specially since I had a very similar surgery on my opposite elbow in 2017. That was a successful surgery with a wonderful recovery. Anesthesiologist should have checked the notes from that procedure to determine the best course of action for this one. It appears he did not. For the second time Dr. Getz gives me my life back. After a total shoulder replacement surgery 2 years ago now on the other side a rotator cuff repair surgery. His care is impeccable and his compassion is unmatched. Dr. Getz IS the shoulder magician, and his staff and assistants are the best ever!! Thank you so much..I am so grateful to you all.

Dr. Getz was very reassuring and explained everything so I understand what to to expect during and after surgery.

I had the utmost confidence in Dr. Getz and his team. He was not quick to operate, but rather took time to consider other options which proved successful. Very personable, listens carefully and we came up with a great plan of care. He took the time to educate me re all options. I had a positive outcome.

A great surgeon with great patient care and responsiveness

I took a spill and fractured my shoulder/humerus pretty badly. Dr. Getz took one look at the x-rays and recommended surgery. He showed me where the breaks were, and why he was recommending surgery. His confidence gave me confidence. I had surgery the following week and am well on the road to recovery. Dr. Getz does not spend a lot of time on chit chat...so if that is what you are looking for, he would not be the best choice for you. If you want someone who will be straightforward and confident with their recommendations, and who will provide the best care possible, he is your guy.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Charles Getz. I had a shoulder that was badly torn up from various untreated injuries from mishaps starting when I was 24 years old. They were beyond critical by the time I consulted with him at age 67. Although I had muscles long atrophied, he was able to restore my shoulder’s basic functionality so beautifully with the remaining muscles! His wonderful talent and exceptional abilities make him “the best in the business” as far as I’m concerned. Five stars all the way!

Dr. Getz has a very caring and genuine goal to get his patients back to healthy. He took his time to talk and answer any questions or concerns. The staff as a whole is pretty great! I would recommend in a second to anyone!

Good doctor, he listened to me and fixed the pain in my arm with a Cortizone shot.

I had a Total Reverse Shoulder Replacement 3 months ago. I was so apprehensive about having the surgery but knew I had no choice as I was in constant pain with limited use of my dominant arm. I am so happy with the results and want to thank Dr. Getz. Dr. Getz and his entire staff were excellent.

The office was beautiful, and all of the personnel were very professional. As it turned out I needed right reverse shoulder replacement. Dr. Getz, and his staff walked me through exactly what would take place. On October 14th I had the procedure done at Main Line Health Riddle. I am currently 12 days post surgery, and would say that I was almost pain free since the procedure. I have had a post operative follow up, x rays were taken, and was given some light stretching exercises. So impressed with Dr. Getz, and his support staff. A great experience !

DR. Getz performed surgery on a bad RCuff/bicep tendon tears. This was a 3rd surgery. Almost pain free after 5 weeks. Rehab soon. I highly recommend Dr. Getz.

Dr. Getz and his staff were great!!!

He is so nice and thorough. He gives you ALL options and you chose what is best for you, and then he goes over his opinion of your choice. He just puts you at ease. His staff makes sure that if you need to get a hold of him, they will make sure you do. Dr Getz is a super gentleman and physician.

Dr. Getz is a caring and compassionate doctor. He takes his time with you and listens to you. I would highly recommend Dr. Getz for all your shoulder or elbow problems.

Dr. Getz is literally the best of the best. I broke my humorous (upper arm/ shoulder). The day after everything happened and spending the day in urgent care and ER i finally made it to see Dr Getz. I was so impressed how quickly he was able to get me in and I was even more impressed how punctual everyone in the office was. The whole office was extremely considerate and nice. Dr. Getz is very personable and takes his time to fully answer and questions. Once again I was impressed that he was able to get me in for surgery the very next day!!! Unbelievable! The day of surgery i spoke with him right before I went under anesthesia and he asked if I has any questions to which I replied "are my tattoos going to get messed up permanently?!" His answer was "dont worry about it. I am really good at piecing them back together". Well today I just got done my first post surgery follow up visit and my arm is doing great, even better than he expected and he was right!! He was great at piecing my tattoo back together and he only cut into one of them. Just the fact that he even cared enough to consider my tattoos and make a statement saying "I know people pay a lot of money for tattoos and each one has a story" shows how caring and great of a doctor and a human he really is. Dr Getz is an Amazing Dr and warm and friendly person! Very knowledgeable, explains throughly, patiently listens and is Kind and Compassionate. His skill level was way beyond our expectations. Dr. Getz did an awesome job repairing my rotator cuff. His assistant Linda Is amazing. She got me into seeing him right away. Surgery went incredibly smooth. the day after my surgery I was in a lot of pain and she got me new meds pronto. When highmark denied me PT she cut through the red tape to get me approved. I am almost 5 months post surgery and transitioning back into white water kayaking and biking. Overall I have to say it was a good experience. A lot of people freak out over the longevity to recuperate but the pain was minimal. by the fourth day after surgery I was feeling pretty good and pleasantly surprised how much I could move the shoulder even though it was in a sling.
