Dr. Charles Gia Phan

In Feb/Mar of 2017, I went to see Dr Phan because I had a severe case of Pouchitis, a consequence of colectomy surgery. He insisted on performing a colonoscopy before he would even talk to me. His report was that he could not help me. Surgery was not necessary. He just wanted to ripoff Medicare. Terrible man.

Dr. Phan takes time to explain treatment plan and answer any questions. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

It took me four months to get my first appointment to see Dr. Phan. I was instructed to arrive 30 minutes early for paper work. That day I arrived at 1 PM to find a sign in the window " out to lunch, be back at 1:30 " . What is the point of asking patients to wait 30 minutes while they enjoy lunch ? When they finally returned from lunch, I was turned away by the front desk Ms. HAN because my name on the driver license did not match my insurance card's. We Asians usually have an English name added to our name (e.g. Dr. Phan Gia Quang = Dr. Charles G. Phan), Usually in this case, verifying date of birth, last 4 numbers of your Social , home address, and a simple phone call to the insurance company would solve the problem. Of course they did not do any of those, ONLY stating COMPANY POLICY requires MATCHING NAMES !! I had waited 4 long months and took a day off work to get to this appointment! Of course I would not leave until I could talk to the office manager, Ms. TRINH, I was told she was in a meeting, so I asked for Ms. VAN, her assistant, VAN was sitting right across the office but chose to ignore me totally. Another heavy set woman came out instead (sorry for the name calling, but I did not get your name!!), she threatened to call SECURITY on me! I could not believe why they treat their patient like some criminal! Like I was armed/endangered lives ?? I told her: Go ahead, make my day! Guess what ? Security never came ! Dear Dr. Phan, take my advice, retrain the WHOLE front office, hire some good help, professional ones ! You were highly recommended among my friends, that was why I came to you in the first place. I try to believe that you are as good or even better than what they say, but I do need to wish you luck with the current office help. Dr. Phan was friendly and very details about treating his patient like me. The front desk staff were also very friendly and helpful including the nurse. Although the waiting was rather long before getting treatment from the doctor. But the wait was absolutely worth it.

Dr Phan was the most informative and caring Dr I think I have ever met. He covered every basic of my health. His staff was very sweet. I would recommend him with the highest level of service and care!

My aunt went to this doctor office for the first time, she was lost and called someone named Trinh, that lady was so rude on the phone, raised her voice and gave my aunt a long lecture, talked to my aunt like she did something real bad. Front desk staff was so nice that she apologized and guided my aunt through all the questions. This guy does not deserve to be a doctor. He is rude, talk down on people. My uncle doesn’t speak much English, old enough to be this guys father, but was horribly disrespected. Doctor is a profession of help others, this guy doesn’t know a thing about being a doctor. He doesn’t even deserve the 1 star. Please take your parents or love one to a different doctor. I swear to GOD I’ll tell y’all the truth, this doctor used to be in SW Bellaire areas but because all Asian community knows him as a horrible rude and impatient doctor, he decided to relocate to another areas. This doctor has no heart and no good care practice, he’s is just for $$. Worst Asian doctor to go to. Y’all will find out soon!

Very good Doctor

Unprofessional, irresponsible with times, rude...this doctor have no work ethic! He doesn’t care about other feeling. He think he is god and his patience’s times meant nothing. I always asked for a very first appointment of the day. For those 3 times I have been waiting from 40 mins to hour for him to show up and the staffs always scheduled me 30 mins prior to the time their door open. The worse time is when I was scheduling for colonoscopy at Sugarland Herman Memorial surgery Hospital. His staffs messed up my scheduled from 8 am to 2:30 by mistaken me with other patience. Very unprofessional! at first dr Phan refused to come talk to me about the problem until we talked to the director doctor at the hospital then he finally came. Not to apologize but blamed his staffs. The nurse told me that he could take me as the first patience as scheduled while I was ready but he refused to. He have me staying with the false schedule. It was horrible in my 3rd day no food, 16 hrs no drinks

My colonoscopy scheduled at 8 am today 5/21. I haven't eaten solid food for the past 2 days plus today is the third day no food and No drinks since midnight. Arrived at the Sugarland Memorial Herman surgery center at 7:30am, After paid my co payment then they told me my schedule changed to 2:30 pm. It’s a horrible experience waiting for another 8 hours without eat or drink and frustration. Dr. Phan office told us that they have mistaken me with another patience. How? They always asked for name and BD. Dr. Phan refuse to come and talk to me, his patience. I’m not sure I can continue to trust him

I have been Dr. Phan's patient for many years. Applying his considerable knowledge resolved my difficult problem. I found him to be very involved, caring and reassuring. He asked many questions and found solutions based off how I was doing.

Great staff. Went over procedures in details. Dr. Phan is very pleasant and thorough. Good bedside manner. Convenient location. Excellent personal relationship.

One of the worst physicians that I have ever seen. Incompetent in so called specialities. Orders unnecessary procedures just to make more money. Horrible "Doctor" & huge waste of money.

Dr. Phan's office wanted to charge me for a 2nd consultation < 30 days of my initial one & procedure wasn't performed in 30 days. DUE TO HIM being on vacation for 3 wks. I wasn't told that the procedure had to be performed in 30 days, it was never brought up even after they told me he would be on vacation. Consults cost $219.00 which is a lot of money when you get nothing out of it. Refuse to talk to me after 3 calls-the response is "Office Manger" will have to call me back. 0 returned calls.

Dr. Phan saw my husband, identified a very strange and dangerous condition, referred him up the chain to a top specialist on the problem with great urgency, and may have saved his life. He's an expert we trust. His sense of humor and bedside manner are a bonus. Truly an excellent physician to whom we are grateful.

Dr. Phan is very knowledgeable and helpful. He is very concerned with each patient and willing to take the time to answer all questions. His team is super responsive and attentive. I highly recommend this practice.

Great service

Dr. Phan also is an expert in liver disease. He is very knowledgeable and has up to date information of GI diseases. He has wonderful bedside manners. I put my trust in him. A very pleasant experience in every visit!
