Dr. Cheryl Marie Burgess

AVOID THIS PROVIDER!! Dr. Burgess misdiagnosed my issue. She performed a painful and expensive treatment that included firing lasers onto my face, which did not solve the issue. She then prescribed a medication the worsened the issue. Awful, costly, and painful experience. I went to another dermatologist, who immediately performed an accurate diagnosis, changed my prescription, and solved the issue.

I will pay out of pocket... she is excellent!

My true and unfiltered experience: I was referred to her by my Dermatologist and told that she is an expert to treat facial hair removal of colored and ethnic skins. I have received total of eight (8) treatments, paid for seven (7) of them. One was complimentary. My first appointment she told the nurse that my treatment will be like some other client and facial hair will be gone in couple visits. We switched back and forward between two machines for the first four treatments. Those did not work, and she used third machine which I was told the best (that's the reason for complementary treatment, bringing this machine that late to use) which makes hair white after the treatment and all turned white hair to fall off after a while. My facial hair turned white as she said, however after couple months almost all of them back, strong and dark. I paid $5,000 and got nothing accomplished. Now, I am looking for an expert who can actually help me. I have melasma condition, and she treated me for that as well. I have being using products she provided and no major improvement. All these laser treatments were supposed to help, not much. I asked if chemical peeling could make it better and work, she said yes. I decided go for it. I had the similar experience with chemical peeling. Paid for the first treatment and did not work. During first treatment she told the nurse that I will be peeling like crazy, how my skin turned red, etc. My face did not peel at all. She did the second treatment for free, and it did not work as well. Peeled couple flakes, at best. I've just gave up and decided to share my experience. At this point, I do not believe there is much for me to do. Out of large amount of money, and got nothing in return.

Outstanding, professional, accessible, answers all of my questions with care and understanding and with respect. Dr. Burgess has done what other dermatologist could not do... she has made my hair grow back! Her products for my skin are excellent, so much so that my other doctors and friends have asked what have I been doing to have such a clear complexion. She is a complete doctor, by listening to me and I do mean actually listening (not doing something else while I am talking to her), but actually looking at me when I am speaking is an indication that she does not consider her patients just another billing number. She has been a tremendous asset to my life. I might also add that I have been a patient of hers for more than 15 years. And obviously I will continue (she has made me look 10 years younger than my actual 68 years, what more could a patient ask for! I truly thank you Dr. Burgess for enhancing my life.

I love her practice. Great office staff. Doctor is very warm and personable. She is an artist, when it comes to cosmetic dermatology.

Dr. Burgess listens to patients and also answers questions and options for treatment in a thoughtful and articulate manner. She provides in a careful and excellent way. I have great respect for her judgement and skill.

Excellent physician and very personal, lovely bed-side manner. Very knowledgable of the latest innovations and has contributed and still contributes to her field tremendously. She is also one of only two physicians in the area that prescribe Accutane when necessary. The treatment was life-altering in my case, and I continue to visit Dr. "B" for all of my skin care needs. Phenomenal service and results overall w/hands-on care! Sincerest thanks...

Dr. Burgess is a wonderful doctor. She's the one you need to go to if someone else can't determine the cause of your problem or has done you more harm than good. I've been to a number of dermatologists in the D.C. area many of whom are highly regarded. Dr. Burgress surpasses all of them. Besides having great technical skills, she has superb people skills as well. The only downside is you do have to spend a fair amount of time in the waiting room. I've experienced this with other derm docs. too.

Dr. Burgess is absolutely the best dermatologist in the mid-atlantic region (maybe even the east coast). She is a great diagnostician, superb at explaining condition and treatment options. She also the very best for cosmetic options. I highly recommend her.
