My Wife went to Dr Bergen who made two referrals which were not done after a week despite calling his office to check on status and to let them know one referral was to a doctor who did not take our insurance. Luckily, my wife's spine is healing on its own and the pain has subsided so she may not need the procedure Dr Bergen was referring her to. I had a scoliosis surgery with Dr. Bergin one month ago. It has been a huge surgery from a neck to a pelvis. Dr. Bergin did an excellent job. In 2 weeks my surgery scar was healed. In 3 weeks I could walk already without walker. In one month I almost stopped taking all pain medications.

Dr Bergin did my disc replacement surgery. I still have pain to this day. I’m blown every time I mention this. I’ve been out of work for two years collecting half of my paycheck. I sued the car insurance company for damages, and dr Bergins office is so greedy, they refused to put my claim through my really good insurance at the time. The hospital was paid, however the office instead wanted to wait for a windfall I won’t be getting. When I try to let them know, they’re dismissive and don’t care to be taking what little, if anything I get. Don’t go here. Not worth the headache and stress for a dr who doesn’t seem to care.

I saw Dr Bergen for a second opinion for a herniated disc at L3-4. It had been 3 months since onset of the pain and I was still very uncomfortable and nearly at the end of my rope. He reviewed my scans and honestly and nicely told me that surgery would not make me feel better - time and therapy would. It didn’t seem like it at the time due to my discomfort, but he was right. Three months of therapy and patience later, I’m back to active almost pain free. Avoiding surgery was wonderful. I saw Dr Bergen for a second opinion for a herniated disc at L3-4. Dr. Bergin is an outstanding doctor. If it weren't for him I would either have some sort of paralysis or I'd be dead. He overrode the hospitalist in charge and ordered an MRI which confirmed his fears that the infection was out of control and warranted immediate surgery.

Dr, Bergin did my spinal fusion surgery back in 2013 and it was the best decision ever. Once I healed from the surgery I have not had any back pain.

Dr. Bergin really changed my life. I was in so much pain and other doctors I saw said I didn’t need surgery. Dr. Bergin recommended it and operated on me. The surgery was a success and I feel so much better. I will always thank him for his patience in explaining everything to me, and for all his care for me. I had him put a Shock Absorber in my C6 C7 and he couldn't even come up to my room and check on me. Also, for him to throw Doctor Spencer under the bus while we were getting geared up for surgery really pissed me off!!! Anyway i wouldn't recommend this Doctor to do anything on me ever again...

Hands down, one of the nicest Dr's you have ever met. He was called in for my emergency spine surgery at 11pm at night. I was nervous, and he sat with me for 45min to explain everything and calm me down. Great bedside manner. This was my second spine surgery . I will never use anyone other then Dr Bergin again. He's an absolute boss.

I went into the ER three weeks after being misdiagnosed my several doctors for pain in my neck and back. I was hospitalized at another hospital for two weeks prior to seeing Dr. Bergin and they did not detect for two weeks what was wrong with me. Dr. Bergin saved my life the next day by performing surgery on my spine. I had a deadly Staph infection Aureus in my spine and bone and it was pushing on my spinal cord. He removed two of my vertebrae and three discs and found what type of infection it was. The prior hospital did not even x-ray where I told them I had pain. I would have been paralyzed and would have died. Again, Dr. Bergin saved my life and I thank him every time I see him. He is amazing. Upon my consulting visit with Dr Bergin MD, he explained all options to me and was very thorough. He took the time to answer every question I had and did not force me to make a decision. He is an advocate of conservative treatment not immediate surgery. Very professional. I have complete confidence moving forward. My Laminoplasty went very well. Dr. Bergin is just an outstanding surgeon. A great guy that is tops his profession. I would not go to anyone else. Great staff and great care at Lutheran General in Park Ridge Illinois. I saw chris bergin twice. Both times he was professional. A bit rough around the edges but overall I was pleased with the time he spent with me without making me feel he had to rush to get to his next patient. That said, my reason for seeing bergin was for a complex spinal revision. He said he could "fix" me but with no guarantees. Since 2013, I've have 10 major surgeries; 6-7 on my spine and back. So this was daunting to say the least and I was extremely apprehensive to begin with. However, I decided to perform the surgery and scheduled surgery for 11-21-16. However, and this had never happened to me prior to a surgery, 10 days or so before the surgery I developed SEVERE anxiety, crying fits, loss of sleep, loss of appetite, nausea, and even vomiting. I labored over the surgery to the point I became paralyzed in fear. I called bergin on Saturday, 11-19, two days prior to surgery to hear his voice, console me and offer words of encouragement. Well, he did what he thought was his best

Horrible experience!!!! I had to habe a 2nd surgery 2 weeks after a discectomy for a large fluid leak that he kept blowing off my concerns. I've had numbness oain and falling since. I will have my 3rd back surgery in less than 1 and 1/2 years so they can fix his work. Very hands off and his partner was as rude as could be when he was covering Dr Bergin when I was in the hospital. He actually forgot he had to round and I got an extra hospital day.

Horrible experience. Lumbar surgery done on my husband, surgical drain tube fell out, never replaced, 2 weeks later second surgery to remove hematoma. Sent him home without pain meds. after 1st surgery. Placed straight rods in spine and now has to have another surgery due to his spasms, chronic pain and inability to stand, walk or sit for any length of time

I went to see him last week for a consultation and he immediately put my mind at ease with his thoughtful grounded approach. He quickly read the intricacies of the MRI and recommended a non operative approach based on my symptoms even though I had a big herniation in the MRI. I felt he puts the patient first. He does have a sense of humor that may not work for everyone but I found his approach compassionate and well rounded. If I need surgery, he would be my go to.

I am a nurse and very picky about my doctors. He rates as one of the top 3 doctors I have ever dealt with in both my professional as well as personal life. He takes time to speak with you and will not jump right into invasive procedures to fix the problem. He is excellent!

Today was the first time I met Dr. Bergin. His first question to me was why was I there. Then I told him that I was referred to him and all about my pain and issues and bulging discs. He took one look at my MRI and said well the good news for you is that you don't need surgery, but that is bad news for my kid's college bank accounts. I was very offended and felt like I wasn't welcomed and at the end of the appointment I asked him what I should do and he said yoga. What a joke!

I went for a second opinion and within the first 5 minutes he told me my highly respected neurosurgeon was wrong and that he doesn't believe in surgery and all of this by just reading an MRI did not do a full physical exam and refused to consult with surgeon or even read his notes. Total Jerk

My dad was in rough shape. He had reached the limit of chiropractic care for his neck and was definitely in need of surgical intervention. Many options were presented to him including conservative care and he chose to have Dr. Bergin perform his operation. Being a chiropractor, I was very hesitant and skeptical about the outcome. However, all I can say is that the results are AMAZING! Aside from a scar on his neck you wouldn't even know that he was operated on. Thanks for doing such an awesome job fixing up my Dad, you rock!
