Clare A Pipkin

I've been a patient of Dr. Pipkin for many years now, she diagnosed my Melanoma 8 years ago and has helped me with various other crazy skin issues. She has excellent people/patient skills and is very technically competent at her job. I can't say enough good things about her, if there were 10 voting stars, I would rate her there!

On Nov. 26 I was referred to Dr Pipkin and since then between my husband and I we have called at least 8 times. Each time we call we are told that we will be called back with an appt. One of the receptionists is sounds aggravated when you talk to her. A week ago I thought I would try one last time to make the appointment. The receptionist said he would call me back. No call back after 3 days. Again. I give up. Dr. Pipkin may be an awesome doctor but I will never know because of the difficulty getting an appointment with her. I suggest that if you are referred to her and don't get a call back, don't waste your time waiting. Go ahead and ask to be referred to another practice. I could have seen another doctor with Durham Dermatology, but I would have had to wait 4 months and with a potential melanoma diagnosis and that is just way too long. My consultation with Dr Pipkin ended a 10 year-long battle against a special chronic skin itch. I have seen 2 different doctors in the past 10 years, and both of them gave the same incorrect diagnoses and prescription. Dr Pipkin gave me a different diagnosis and prescribed a different regimen of medication that actually worked! So I think Dr. Pipkin is very knowledgeable of dermatology and I would highly recommend her. She even provided me with a weblink to a source of information (medical journals) that explained in great detail, what my skin problem was. The long wait time to get an appointment with her is well worth the wait.

I have been seeing Dr. Pipkin for regular check-ups following my first occurrence with skin cancer. She has been wonderful and has correctly diagnosed a number of false alarms. I feel that she practices good medicine. She is also courteous and easy to talk to.

I've been one time, but had to wait months to see her. Worth the wait! Gave more attention than my local doc. Luv her!!
