About Coleen A Rickabaugh
Reviews for Coleen A Rickabaugh
If I could give zero stars I would. She is rude, and doesn't listen. Wrote some false information in my records, without even really speaking to me for more than 5 minutes. Suspected I was lying about being allergic to a medication when I actually am in fact allergic, and if I was given it, things could have gone badly. She seems like she is arrogant and doesn't quite care about people, just the paycheck. Not to mention she was a bit annoying with interrupting me and not letting me finish my sentences. Definitely a bad experience, if you ever get her as a Dr, request an immediate change. She's a terrible doctor. She's abrasive and quite literally the worst Dr I've ever had. I've also reported her to the medical board.
☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ There wasn’t a zero stars option so I made one. I visited the ER on Friday, Feb 9th because I was having chest pain, palpitations, and shortness of breath that came and went with the pain I was experiencing. I called the ER prior to going in because I know the ERs main purpose is to make sure patients aren’t dying. I was told that I could still go to receive care. I don’t start care with my Rheum until Feb 23rd, and I thought the Urgent Care wouldn’t be able to test for what would be going on with my heart. When Dr Ann Coleen Rickabaugh came in she was speaking very fast and somewhat dismissive but I thought whatever, maybe she had a coffee or 5. She asks me about what’s going on and j explained the chest pain and symptoms I’ve been experiencing. I spoke calmly and very neutral although I was uncomfortable with how I was feeling. I made the mistake of being fully honest with her as my Dr and letting her know j have Fibromyalgia. That could be why she became even more dismissive and rude. After snappily verbally assessing me she asks me to put on a gown. Whenever I’m asked to put on a gown j just remove my top unless directed otherwise. And every single time I’m asked to put a gown on, the Dr tells me very clearly what to take off and what not to take off. So since Dr Coleen lacked the communication skills to properly provide care to her patient , I took off my top because she was going to do and EKG. Moments later she comes back and stands in the doorway and says “You’re still not undressed? Some people just don’t know how to put on a gown.” I immediately told her that was rude and politely asked her to talk to me like a human being. She starts defending her behavior while the nurse just stands there like a deer in headlights. I then asked for another Dr if she’s not going to speak to me like a human. She then says “This isn’t McDonalds, that’s not how this works.” I again told her that I’m pretty sure I have the right to ask for a new Dr. But at that point I realized what was happening and just told her k was going to change and she left. I immediately called my fiancé in so j wasn’t alone. I am a black woman and as much as you don’t want to pull The race thing.. there truly was no way around it. Dr Ann should not be practicing and if she does just be honest and say “whites only”. Do better Mary Washington Hospital. Report to the VA Board of Medical Professionals loading…
First of all, Coleen Rickabaugh does not even deserve a star in my opinion. I am not sure how and why she is still a practicing physician and e tr towards patients is being tolerated by Stafford hospital. She is a disgrace to the medical community and should not be allowed to practice. Reading some of these reviews brought me trauma and tears. Rude is an understatement. Disrespectful is being nice. Coleen, perhaps you have never experienced pain before and do not know what it feels like to have a pain crisis to understand what I was feeling on January 18th. Coleen, no, I was not faking my pain as you believed I was. Yes, I left the emergency room because I was not going to be seen by anyone else and I refused to allow you to continue to humiliate me. I left to go seek the care I needed and deserved elsewhere. You must not be happy with yourself for you to be giving off this negative energy to patients.

I went to the ER for the 2nd time in 4 days for severe pain in my back and ribs. I had been told by another ER Dr days before it was pulled muscles. I started thinking it was gallbladder. Dr Rickabaugh came in and listened to me, pressed on my stomach near my ribs and said she did not think it was gallbladder. She wanted blood tests an another x-ray. After the test she was still concerned with the findings and wanted to run a CT Scan. I was ready to leave to which she told me I could but she would sign against Dr order's. Said she wanted to find out If I had a blood clot or something more serious. Was she Abrupt? YES! Was she pushy? YES. BUT she was being through. The CT Scan was done and found no , blood clot, no cancer, but a compression fracture in my spine. She throughout was concerned with the pain I was in and gave me something to ease it. Then she prescribed a pain medication that actually works to take home. She then gave me the name of a Dr to contact who could fix this. She was concerned why this happened and the way it did happen. It didn't make sense. I found her very forward yet very concerned and through. She reminded me of Northern Doctors I have been to. Very matter of fact. I actually liked her!
If I could give zero stars, I would. She seems negligent, arrogant, and rude. She's abrasive and loves to interrupt a patient after she asks a question. She also has no bedside manner and apparently knows someone's whole life story, after barely speaking to them for 40 seconds. If you ever were to get her as a Dr, ask for another one. She's not worth the headache.
Absolutely horrible. Rude, aggressive, and heavy handed. I went in later that evening to have my appendix removed. Her first idea to taking a temperature was a rectal thermometer, to which she pressed too far in, causing me discomfort that she mocked. I was called dramatic for having my guts pressed into in the aforementioned ‘heavy handed’ manner. She also had me jump on one leg to, quote, “determine how far my pain was”. When I told her the aforementioned jumping was hard for me, and that in fact I was dizzy, I was told to “not worry. It wasn’t a gymnastics class” and that “I wasn’t a gymnast”. I believe this was malpractice or at the least incompetence. I repeatedly told her I was in a lot of pain, and that I was dizzy. I feel horrified that such a person has a job at a hospital. My son was taken to Stafford emergency room with severe abdominal pain, fever, and vomiting. Even though it was suspected that it could be appendicitis, she insisted that he stand up and jump up and down to see how far the pain radiated. When he informed her that he was dizzy and in pain, She informed him that he did not have to balance, he was not a gymnast. Also at some point during this visit he was called “dramatic”. Needless to say I requested another ER doctor and it was determined that my son had appendicitis and immediately went to surgery for an appendectomy! Horrible bedside manner. Terrible personality. I’m not even sure how she is still employed!!! My son was taken to Stafford emergency room with severe abdominal pain, fever, and vomiting. If leaving no star in the rating was possible, that's what I would give her. Zero bedside manner and addressed my illness in a cold and uncaring manner. I couldn't wait to get away from her.
If I could go lower I would. How she has a job anywhere is beyond me. Rude, disrespectful, doesnt listen to anything you say. Doesnt even pretend to care. A true danger to any patient that is unfortunate to find themselves in her care.
Dr. Rickabaugh is an amazing MD and would highly recommend her!!
Worst physician I've ever seen. Does not want to help patients. Doesnt listen. Interrupts with rude comments. Avoid at all costs. Should not be working with people
I have never dealt with a more disrespectful and unprofessional MD ever. Continuously interrupting the patient and not listening to the patients questions or needs. If I could give multiple negative stars I would. Absolutely worse bed side manner ever. Clearly her racial slurs and extremely rude comments come with her title.
I would never recommend this worthless doctor. She is rude, argumentative, and just plain nasty. If you go to the hospital and she’s the one on call, promptly move on to another hospital. I’ve never been treated so poorly in my life. I came in with pain and left with that same pain and some extra tears because she accused me of wanting to miss work, and when that didn’t work she accused me of just wanting pain meds. Awful, awful treatment. She doesn’t deserve the title of doctor. Disgusting.
Terrible. Just terrible.

My mom went to urgent care they sent her to stafford E R for high blood pressure .She called me crying that the Dr was yelling at her. What kind of Dr does that ? I believe Coleen Rickabaugh is in the wrong profession. Negative 100 stars for her .
Went to the ER with severe pain in my abdomen. After arriving by ambulance, at one point she stated out loud "Well, she's probably lying. Patients lie all the time". She also YELLED questions back at me when I was in too much pain to answer her within half a second. Rolled her eyes at many of my responses and "give me a minute before moving me please, I am in too much pain" requests. Extremely rough while examining my abdomen, considering there was unknown internal pain. Worst doctor ever.
Wow! Reading these reviews just shows that my experience wasn't unique at all. I went in with severe abdominal pain and she treated me as a burden. I'd been in to the ER the night before and was told if the pain continued or worsened to come back in. So, I did and she acted as though I was a drug addict seeking pain pills. I wasn't at all and instead just wanted some solution to my problem, no matter what that was. I left in tears with no help. I wrote into the hospital with complaint!
She is not even worthy for any star rating. If there was negative stars I would rate her as a negative five.
coleen called a doctor? Bull manure!!! She should be called coleen rickabough, PTS (Patient Torturer Specialist), because she is NO doctor! She should be brought up on malpractice charges. I would give her -10 stars. Before going to the ER, ask for her. If she's on duty, go to another ER, PPPPPPLEASE! If you are in pain, even if you have a limb missing or half your guts are spilling out, you will get NO pain meds from her! I implore you to go to Spotsy Medical Center ER!
Went to the ER with severe, debilitating chest pain from Lupus complications. She accused me of being a narcotic seeker and forced me to leave with a security escort, simply on the evidence that I'd been to the ER many times in the last two months. What that should tell her is that my chronic illness is poorly controlled because I was just diagnosed. I wasn't even prescribed narcotics. Not once. If she had bothered to ask me, I could have told her. Instead, I was treated like a criminal.
Emergency room treatment. Was in severe pain. Dr. Richabaugh was hurried and was not listening. Said was just typical menstrual pain, patient should just be use to it. What a thing for a doctor to say to a patient in pain!! No results about what is causing severe pain. Not typical pain. Was given pain medication, but still in terrible pain with no idea what the problem truly is caused by. Definitely not impressed with Dr. Richabaugh, and not very happy with Mary Washington.
We went with our 7mo old baby to the ER at Mary Washington Hospital, she checked our son and besides having a rushy attitud (her notes on the medical record show she did not pay attention to what i mention about symptoms) she made this mistakes: 1. Said our son was not dehydrated, even after seeing his blood test results (our pediatrician saw the lab tests which showed he needed IV right away, she never gave him an IV, despite we told her our concern) 2. Prescribed WRONG antibiotic!
