We are very grateful for Dr. Craig Smith and his team. My son (17) had SCFE surgery. Dr. Smith was excellent at explaining and going over everything with us before surgery and after surgery. Follow ups were just as great. Dr. Smith always took the time to answer any of our questions and not make us feel rushed. My son is doing great and already back to basketball. I feel Dr. Smith and his team truly care about their patients. We highly recommend Dr. Smith!

Dr. Smith treated my 9 year old daughter for a SCFE. He was absolutely fantastic! He took the time to explain to my daughter what had happened and what needed to be done to correct the issue. He spoke to her in terms she could understand. As an aside the terms he used also helped me to understand as well!! He was always professional, engaging and friendly, which helped to minimize my daughter's anxiety. After the surgery and throughout the post op examinations, he continued to exhibit what I felt, was above and beyond an exemplary care. Dr. Smith's team also were professional and thorough and completely focused on my daughter's full recovery. I would highly recommend Dr. Smith and should my daughter ever need similar services, he will be the Go-To physician for our family!

Dr. Smith was incredible to work with! He was so calm in a scary situation for a first time mom and really comforted us. He is excellent with tiny babies and solved our hip dysplasia in no time! The hip harness was no big deal and our baby didn’t even notice it was on. We give Dr. Smith our highest recommendation!

Our daughter had the most horrific accident in 2020. Life threatening even with the amount of blood loss she had. She had tore everything in her foot/ankle at the age of 18 months. It was a horrible time for all of us. Dr Smith came to speak with us on a personal level after her first surgery was complete. When I say personal, I mean he genuinely sat with us and even showed us pictures of what was repaired and what it looked like. As a terrified mom I felt more at ease when he sat down next to us in the waiting room and explained everything he did. I remember him saying to me believe it or not he had done another case very similar before and to not worry. We had multiple follow up appointments with him to make sure she was healing well. She went from a cast to a boot and then was all good to go. I have to say we will never forget what he did for us and our family. There are truly not enough words to explain how thankful we are that he was our daughters surgeon and doctor. Forever thankful you really did save our baby girl. I can't say enough about Dr. Craig Smith and his team. My daughter has had a lot of problems with her knees and a lot of pain since about the age of 4, she is now 12. We have seen several orthopedic Doctors in the past but none like Dr. Smith. He was so amazing with my daughter and concerned for her well being. We met him in October of 2021. My daughter had her first knee operated on in November of 2021. It went great. Her healing process was ahead of schedule and ready not even 4 months later for the next knee. We are 4 weeks post surgery on her second knee and she is doing great. Thanks to Dr. Smith she is looking forward to being able to do things she has never been able to do. A year ago, my son Will had a significant right femur fracture. We were initially transported to our local hospital and then transferred to Dr. Smith at Nationwide Children’s. We received amazing care from the moment we entered the facility. This was a devastating freak injury as Will’s passion is baseball. The injury happened at the very beginning of his sophomore baseball season. He missed out on his freshman season because of the pandemic. With that said, even with the disappointment of losing another baseball season, this past year has been an amazing year of growth and grit. And, Dr. Smith has been a huge part of that. Because of the type of femur fracture, prior to surgery, he was truthful and told us he didn’t know if Will would go back to his pre-injured state but that he and his team would work very hard to get alignment and straighten the leg as best they can. We are so grateful that he had the best surgical outcome possible. And truly, surgery was just the beginning of this journey and we were also blessed with amazing outpatient follow-up. Dr. Smith, Allegra, and the rest of the Ortho team were nothing short of awesome. They really cared not only about Will, the patient, but Will the teenager, the ball player, the kid who wanted to get his license on time, the kid who wanted to skimboard on vacation 5 months post-injury, a 135-lb kid who was squatting pre-injury over 300#, and a kid who broke all the state powerlifting records just 2 years before. Every appointment was filled with them connecting, educating, and motivating him. They laughed with us, they helped us through the lows, and they prioritized Will’s goals in their plan. Will’s experience, his desire to help others, his love of sports, and his plan to be in the medical field was truly enhanced by Dr. Smith’s influence, and Will solidified his goal of becoming a physician. All of what I said so far comes from a mom of patient. What I say next comes as a doctorally-prepared nurse with over 20 years experience, certified in executive nursing leadership, whose very first nursing job was as an Ortho staff nurse, and a former director of surgery at a community-based hospital with almost 5,000 orthopedic surgical cases per year. With my knowledge of and my experience in the complicated and dynamic health care environment, Dr. Smith leads the “A” team, not only of pediatric orthopedics, but in all facets of healthcare. They did everything EXACTLY the way health care executives and leaders expect of their teams. They truly met and exceeded expectations of quality care with great outcomes, focused on patient/family-centered care and connection, and high level clinical practice and teamwork. In all transparency, Dr. Smith and his team are ROCK STARS in healthcare. We are thankful for the beyond excellent care we received, but truly blessed that during this unfortunate time, God brought Dr. Smith and his team into our lives. Dr. Smith is a top-notch physician. I would recommend him to anyone needing ortho care. He listens to the child and parents and communicates very clearly the diagnosis, the surgery plan, and the post-op plan. He and his staff work closely together to provide excellent care.

I can't put into words how fantastic Dr. Smith and his team are. My daughter fractured her tibial spine and was one of the youngest patients to receive surgery. She had to get surgery during covid, on her birthday, and while my husband was gone on military orders, so I was beyond stressed. Dr. Smith was so patient and kind and truly an expert in the field. I felt so much more at ease knowing my daughter was in great hands. The team at the surgery center were so sweet to my daughter making her feel so special on her birthday. Dr. Smith took the time at every appointment to answer any questions we had and really made us feel comfortable. He read the notes from the physical therapist so he knew how my daughter was recovering. He made sure my daughter was 100% before releasing her. We feel so lucky to have had him during such a rough time. I can't recommend him enough!

My daughter had a pretty bad break of her left humerus last August 2020 and had to be rushed into surgery late at nigh as her hand did not have a pulse. It was very scary but I have to say that our experience was top of the line! Dr. Smith and his team were amazing and took unbelievably good care of our daughter in both the hospital and in the clinic for after care. It was a long recovery as there was some nerve damage so we had many appointments to keep checking in. Dr. Smith was not going to let us say goodbye till he was certain she was 100% back to normal. That was very comforting. We highly recommend Dr. Smith and his team at Children's . Our son suffered a pretty bad broken arm and needed to be rushed into surgery. It was a frightening experience, but Dr. Smith quickly and calmly explained that it was a very common injury that he has a lot of experience with treating. I’m grateful for Dr. Smith and his team at Children’s for taking such great care of our son all the way up to the final appointment.

I Absolutely love Dr. Smith and his assistant allegra!!! They felt like family to my daughter and I. They are very caring and explain every step along the way. I will definitely recommend them to anyone who asks.

Dr. Smith is great. From initial visit to follow-up, he and his team understood my sons sports injuries and took the time to ensure the proper treatment and successful recovery. I hope we don't have to see him again but will for sure buy him a beer if given the opportunity.

I cannot begin to say enough about Dr.Craig Smith as well as his PA Allegra. They took amazing care of my daughter since this past July. Dr.Smith did surgeries number 2 and 3 on my daughters hips for SCFE (Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis). The third surgery was extensive due to a large deformity which had recovery comparative to hip replacement. Both of these surgeries were a success and Dr Smith explained exactly what the issue was, the surgery needed to correct the condition, and what was expected as far as recovery. Dr. Smith and Allegra both were patient with us and answering questions, truly cared, empathetic, positive, encouraging, SKILLED, and made my daughter feel cared for and important. They quickly got us in when concerns arose and worked through them with us hand in hand. The care and bedside manner from both of them were top notch. His administrative team was also great to work with especially Gabi. I would highly recommend Dr. Craig Smith for his medical expertise, his caring nature with both my daughter and myself through the entire surgery and recovery process. We have been on a six month journey with Dr. Smith and his team, and they are terrific. Patient had a tibia-fibula break, irreparable with cast, so Dr. Smith put a rod in, added a boot, and we were off and (almost) running. The surgery was nerve-wracking for this parent, but Dr. Smith checked in regularly, gave lots of information, and his team took great care of us for our overnight stay at Children's Hospital. Our periodic check-ins and X-rays let us know things were progressing well. We never had a wait at the office, and visits were always efficient and thorough. When your child is injured, you want the best medical attention you can find. The doctors and nurses at Nationwide Childrens Hospital ER department were so comforting when my daughter broke her arm. Since it was a complex break, they casted her and sent her home until the swelling went down. We then returned for surgery and were fortunate to have Doctor Craig Smith perform the surgery. PA Allegra Hackman also assisted. They were very honest and personable. This put myself and my daughter at ease. I am happy to report that after 9 months, and 2 surgeries, my daughters arm is 100% and she has been able to return to playing hockey! Dr. Smith and his team were great during my FO surgery and recovery. Prior to this surgery I had several previous hip surgeries that did not take away my pain. Dr. Smith did testing and discovered the problem right away. My inpatient stay at Nationwide Children's was great and all the staff were very accommodating. Dr. Smith's bedside manner was very friendly and polite, and it was clear he was very knowledgeable. Thanks to Dr. Smith I am now pain free in my hip which I have not been able to say in over 5 years. I cannot begin to say enough about Dr. Smith as well as his PA Allegra! They have been with my daughter side by side since July. Dr. Smith did surgery 2 and 3 on my daughters hips for SCFE (Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis). The third surgery was major and had similar recovery to a hip replacement. Not only did they provide the best medical care I feel was possible, but they also were empathetic, caring, personable, and most importantly listened. Dr. Smith went out of his way to follow up personally after the second surgery and some angst my daughter was facing going into the third and major surgery. The follow up care has been amazing to say the least. The team work with PT helped create the plan needed for Alexis to recover. Dr. Smith has amazing medical skills, listens, explains, takes time to answer questions, made my daughter feel very comfortable and important. He and Allegra both had amazing personalities and truly care about the patient and their recovery!

My son had a broken fibula that needed surgery to repair. Dr. Smith is fantastic! His staff is great! Dr. Smith and his staff made time for us at each appointment. Dr. Smith always made us feel like we were the only patient, even though we knew he was busy. Quick to respond to any emailed questions or concerns. It’s been 3 months since my son’s surgery and he’s doing great.

Dr Smith has taken such wonderful care of our daughter. She has hip dysplasia and required surgery to repair it. Dr smith was able to repair both her hips as closed reductions instead of needing to cut her open and we are forever grateful. He is a highly skilled surgeon and he is truly the best.

Back before Halloween 2018 I asleep on my couch my house was shot up i was hit by an assault rifle I got to the trauma room mountCarmel West the first doctor that came in and looked at my arm want to take it dr. Smith came in and I asked him to please save my arm after 5 surgeries after 3 surgeries just to clean the the debris I had a skin graft bone graft because of dr. Smith taking the time out and saving my arm I'm can hug my kids and hopefully one day have better use of it . Thank you
