Curtis T Hunter

Dr. Curtis Hunter performed a quintuple bypass on me in September 2018 when he was affiliated with UCLA Medical Center. I was not an ER case, so Dr. Hunter and my cardiologist thoroughly explained my situation while showing me the angiogram. The pros and cons of different options were explained to me at length. In the weeks leading up to the surgery Dr. Hunter without fail answered questions that I had. All bypass surgeries are gnarly, but I couldn't be happier with the results, as I write this 3+ years after the fact. To top things off, he is a very pleasant gentleman who listens carefully to his patients, and speaks to them in an understandable and courteous manner.

I owe my life and continued health to Dr Hunter. He was very prompt and straight forward on things. Not that I ever want surgery again, but I would not hesitate one second to allow him to perform surgery on me again.

After having suffered a mild heart attack the day after Thanksgiving, my husband was admitted to the hospital and quickly diagnosed as needing a quadruple bypass surgery. From our first meeting with Dr. Hunter, his care and concern for my husband and me was genuine and sincere. He took the time to explain concerns that he and his team were looking at with this surgery and made a very stressful experience one that we walked away from with gratitude and optimism. Our deepest thanks to Dr. Hunter, his cardiac team, and the medical professionals at St. Marks Hospital for saving my husband's life!

Thank You Dr. Hunter for not only taking care of a situation I wasn't even aware of ,but also the evening before my surgery you coming to my room and spending quite a bit of time talking with me and discussing my procedure for the next morning and with that I had great confidence in you . Dr. Hunter was assigned as my open heart surgeon by UCLA even though I had Kaiser insurance at the time. What a wonderful, caring doctor he is! I am sure he saved my life. I had to go to Santa Monica UCLA first and then to Ronald Reagan. Great surgeon, and he followed up to see how I was. I can't say enough good things about him. Thank you. While in the hospital awaiting an open heart surgery, I heard quite a lot about what an amazing human and a wonderful surgeon Dr. Hunter is. With as high of a bar I had set my expectations, this man amazed me each and every day. He spent as much time as I needed to explain my condition, and the details of the surgery. He seemed to be available 24/7, whenever he was needed. And he never seized to amaze me of how a surgeon with such talent can be so humble and down to earth. Today I am alive, and have a wonderful and active life because of him and all the wonderful people who made his work possible. A few days after my surgery I asked him "How can I ever thank you for what you have done for me?". "No need to thank me my friend" he replied "Just be well and do good, there needs to be more goodness in the world." Dr. Hunter and his team were God sent. The way I am recovering and how I feel doesn’t seem like I just went through a very complicated open heart procedure with bypass. His gentle bedside manners and care for his patients is rare.

Not easy writing a review for the man who saved my life, and make it look so easy. Even though I met Dr. Hunter in one of the hardest times of my life, his confidence and gentle ways made my experience so much easier. There are no words to describe how amazing this man is, in so many ways more than being a great Dr.. Once I asked him "how do I thank you?" and he said "No need, just do some good. There needs to be more goodness in the world." Enough said?

Dr. Hunter performed a triple bypass on me in the Fall of 2016. His care and concern for this patient was immediately recognized. He never rushed any office visits when consulting with my wife and I. The procedure went off without any major issues. Dr. Hunter made himself available to me for any concerns on a 24 hour basis his personal interest and care for his patients became very evident. His staff were of the highest level. I would recommend Dr. Hunter to anyone and everyone. T.Y. Dr. H.
