I Had A Bad Experience With This Dr. Spann He Don't Have Bed Side Manner My GYN Doctor Refer Me To This Doctor When I Got To His Office He Started Saying I Been In The Game Of 30YRS Like He Was Pro-Baller My Dr. Send Him Tons Of My Medical Reports About Me Having Ovarian Cancer This Man Came Out With Two Pieces Of Paper Than Told Me That Ovarian Cancer So Far Hone And Ask He Me What Do My GYN Doctor Want Me To Do With You At First I Was Taking Back With His Comments So He Tells Me I Need Surgery Right Away And To Fo Colonoscopy He Was So Cold Hearted But Than I Heard Hod Said Get Up And Grt Out This Doctor Was Hoing To Operate On Me With Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer Instead Of Doing Chemo Treatment First If He Would've Did This Surgery I Would've Been I Trouble That Cancer Would've Spreaded This Doctor About Money Instead Of His Patient Ladies Don't Go To This Nut Case

I saw Dr. Spann for what I thought was a rash. I had been misdiagnosed by several other OBGYNS and I had been suffering for a very long time. He did a full exam including a biopsy which no one else had done before. He prescribed a very expensive cream (that works) and I am so relieved to have found him. He really has an empathetic and listening bedside manor and he's a little funny.

(For reference: I am 18) I went to this doctor a few months ago for a second opinion on my malignant ovarian teratoma which was removed via surgery. The entire experience at the clinic was unpleasant. I waited approximately 2 hours passed my appointment time despite arriving early. When I actually got to meet with the nurses and Dr. Spann, everything seemed rushed. I am unsure of whether Dr. Spann even looked over my records that detailed the long line of young adult ovarian cancer in my family history. He suggested that I did not need to get a full staging of my cancer because “I was only 18”, as if cancer discriminates based on age. After thinking through his “expert opinions” with many others I decided that it made no sense to not get a staging, even if it was just as a precaution. The staging revealed spillage from my initial tumor and I ended up needing 3 cycles of chemotherapy. If I had listened to Dr. Spann’s suggestions, the cancer could have potentially grown worse and would have needed more extensive treatment. I was overall shocked at my experience with him because of his overall good reputation and reviews. Unfortunately I feel I need to leave a review. Dr Spann treated my mother in 2018 for uterine cancer. I decided to wait to review until we were finished with mom’s treatments to be fair. On our last visit, he entered our room as he was laughing from something he’d just heard in the hallway. He shut the door and sat down and stated “Well the cancer’s back. What do you want to do?” An awkward silence and finally my mother state “We came for your expert opinion. What do you recommend?” He went on to state he recommended chemotherapy though he felt it probably wouldn’t work. He didn’t recommend doing nothing. He went on to state that we could start hospice care. Prior recommendations were no longer an option including a hysterectomy. Of the 3 different times we had bloodwork done, no one called to update us on the results. I had to follow up on my own. We are talking about cancer and these results are important, you should’ve contacted us within a reasonable time. Ultimately, we went to another oncologist, Dr John McBroom, who was excellent and 2 years later after various treatments, mom’s last scan showed no signs of cancer. I recommend to anyone to seek a second opinion if you get a poor prognosis. I hope Dr Spann will use this review to improve his practice. Unfortunately I feel I need to leave a review. Absolutely recommend! Dr. Spann is not only a great surgeon, but he is very personable, makes you feel comfortable, and spends time answering questions as long as you need. He also has a great sense of humor which is nice to find in the medical/surgical world.

Dr Spann is a wonderful oncologist but more importantly, he is a compassionate person. I am thankful for his service, dedication and care during my most darkest days.

Great surgeon I’m fully satisfied with his work I can recommend him whoever wants to get their robotics done

I think Dr. Spann and his staff are extraordinary -- was not impressed with the Dekalb Medical Center tho. I feel like this doctor saved my life and must also mention that this man is deeply knowledgeable, exceptionally kind and show high emotional intelligence. Dr. Spann's office team is amazing, too. They really go out of their way to help and are ALWAYS respectful.

Caring. He knows what he's doing. Dr Spann tells you everything, straightforward.

Loved Dr. Spann! He is a great surgeon. He is very straight forward but he is also a very caring man. Great experience with him & his nurse. But his insurance lady messed up my fmla/ short term disability by not returning paperwork, so I didn't get paid. Everyone in my family who has met Dr. Spann is very much impressed with him. Dr. Spann is knowledgeable, caring, and listens to your concerns and opinions. He is straight forward, telling you the truth about your prognosis. At the same time, he comes across as tenderhearted. You are in good hands with Dr. Spann.

Dr. Spann and his office staff were the most kind and caring people of the 3 top surgeons that were recommended to me for my surgery. I went with Dr. Spann because of his reputation in the field and he is a very caring doctor and explains everything in terms I could understand. I appreciate his wonderful staff that calmed my nerves and answered all my questions before and after surgery. I recommend him to anyone and also appreciated the caring staff at DeKalb Medical Outpatient Surgery center.

Very pleasant and personable !

I can not say enough great things about Dr. Spann. He is very knowledgeable and personable. He was very patient with the many questions me and my family asked him. Days before my sister's surgery, we had additional questions and was informed Dr. Spann was performing surgeries. Late that night, after he finished with his surgeries, Dr. Spann took the time to call us and address our concerns. Dr. Spann is EXCELLENT by All senses of the word. We are extremely blessed to have him as our doctor.
