I could not be happier with my "team"

I did not have a good experience with Dr. Metzinger. He was abrupt and cold with me. He brought up his degrees and belittled my education when I asked questions about my cancer. When I asked if it was possible to keep my ovaries he snapped at me pretty harshly, offended that I questioned his recommendation. For me, it was not about questioning him. I had just been told I had cancer. I was scared and just wanted to know if I had any hope. He told me, "You are bleeding cancer out of your vagina." It was rough. The biggest concern for me in retrospect is that he left town for a trip during the middle of my surgery and did not observe the resident operating on me. He did not tell me beforehand this would happen, or communicate with me at all after surgery until my follow up. The physician who rounded the next morning informed me that Dr. Metzinger had not been there for most of it. Up until that time he said that he would be performing my surgery. I would not have consented to the surgery if I had known he was leaving me. He cured my cancer, and for that I am forever grateful. The rest of my experience was degrading and made me feel like I had no voice in what was happening to me. Cancer is already terrifying, there's no need to be impatient or unkind.

He is very good surgery

Dr. Metzinger is very professional and know his expertise. He listens to my concerns and answers all my questions.

Dr Metzinger's concern for my overall health is greatly appreciated. He took the time to insure I knew what I needed to know about getting a fatty liver back to being a healthy liver. Or face the consequences of my choices. I am very impressed with the compassion he has for his patients.

Saved my sister’s life!

He's currently taking care of my mom. She's 77. Her surgery went very well. You literally can't even see the incisions he made they were so thin as if he used a razor blade. The process he set before her surgery to remove the cancer was great. He made sure she had tests to make sure she could withstand the procedure. Now, chemo, I spoke with him to adjust it.. initially it was too strong. He's brilliant & never gets upset or argues. He made the changes and she's receiving the treatments so much better. The 1st chemo treatment landed her in the hospital for nearly a week. We speak with him a week before each chemo treatment. He knows what he's doing. He saved my mother. I am grateful to him & his entire staff. I absolutely adore his nurses. I.ve called them so many times. They.ve helped so much and are so kind each & every time, especially when you're at your highest stress level. They're so patient & understanding. I would not go anywhere else ❗ Dr.. Metzinger is amazing the whole care team is incredible ❗The way they explain things is in English. They realize that we are not doctors when they speak to you. They take their time and explain everything. You are able to contact somebody 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Thank you

Terrible experience. Many disappointments with him and U of L hospital. Beware of singing the electronic signature pad. They do not tell you everything you are signing for. I found my signature on paperwork that I had no clue about. For example dr Metzinger assistant / resident will most likely do your surgery. Never mentioned at consultation. He changed from a vaginal hysterectomy to a total abdominal hysterectomy and did not change the after care. He sent me home from the hospital after just 4 hours post cutting me open giving me a five inch lower abdominal cut. Even after I asked to stay longer and it was cleared through my insurance for an over night stay. When I questioned this and complained about my treatment, they said this was normal practice for him. I work for an OB/GYN doctor this is not common practice for an abdominal hysterectomy. Also at my consultation he agreed to give me a prophylactic blood thinner , my hematologist said I would need post any surgery I had, due to my blood clotting disorder but never gave it to me. A few days later, When I questioned him about thinking I still needed it after I was sent home so abruptly with out it, what I interpreted as him laughing at me he said “ Your still here aren’t you “. How smug and rude! I am still traumatized by the whole experience would not recommend him or robotic surgery unless absolutely necessary. I also am fighting the hospital because even though they forced me home after 4 hours they charged me for an overnight stay in a semi private room. My insurance company believes them, but I’ll be dammed if I’m paying for this ?? I gave one star because I lived

He was extremely knowledgeable and honest! Very straightforward and explains things in detail so you can understand and understand all your options. Hes not cut happy or just looking to gain your business…. I was very happy that I ended up consulting with him!

He is so educated and i had complete and total faith in this man.

Great, caring staff, excellent surgeon. I had a robotic hysterectomy on November 15th. Best thing I've ever done for myself. I'm up and moving, with minimal pain. Dr. Metzinger explained the procedure, and was very quick to calm my nerves. I'm super impressed.

Very good takes a lot for me to trust any doctor, I could tell he cared

Dr. Metzinger and his staff are amazing and wonderful people. They have always gone above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and help in any way needed. They are all God's angels.

He is very short and unless you like being in pain good luck. I am 36 and I have cried like a baby for my deceased mother numerous times for two weeks and he still refuses to To try to give anything to help relieve pain keep in mind didn’t give me anything from day one of surgery because I am allergic to what he normally gives.

He did not treat me, but my niece. He did everything he could to make her comfortable and give her excellent care. He earned her trust even though she was on the autism spectrum.

Always professional, explains things in detail, answers all questions and doesn't make you feel like he is in a rush to get to his next paitent

Dr. Metzinger has always made me feel like he was not only treating my disease, but treating me as an entire patient. Always compassionate, considerate while remaining the voice of reason throughout. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor. I am incredibly thankful that I have had such an amazing doctor caring for me in my hardest times!

Dr Metzinger leads my team on my battle. My condition is chronic & I have been on my journey for 6yrs. I feel strongly connected with him & his staff. He is honest & encouraging. He is open to new advances in treatment & answers my questions so that I can understand. I have learned that he is passionate about his work & his patients' welfare. I have heard wonderful things about his skill & work ethics from those who work with him. He is my doctor for the long haul & I trust him with my care.

Dr. Metzinger is an amazing doctor. He was compassionate and knowledgeable. He put my mind at ease throughout the visit. I felt like I was in good hands. I totally trusted in his care for me.
