Dr. David Tak Wai Chiu

Top doctor. I've known Dr Chiu since 1980 and was one of his first patients. He repaired a nerve and tendon in my right hand. I just consulted with him about a new hand problem. He is extraordinarily meticulous, takes the time that's needed, is thoughtful, calm, caring and respectful.

He is truly a great surgeon and caring person. I have worked with Dr Chiu for 17 years and after I had a simple hand surgery with another surgeon go terribly wrong, (I didn't want to bother him with something so simple), He fixed it and I have full use of my hand again.

I am a spine surgeon. I lacerated the digital nerve and artery of my dominant index finger—a potentially career threatening injury. So I sought out the best of the best and found him. His office staff is also at the top of their game.

I have been under Dr. Chiu care since April 1, 2008, 7 years due to a job related injury right arm damage by a backhoe. To the present I continue to see Dr. Chiu and remain under his care due to my healing process of the right arm and fingers of the hand

He was there for me. With some difficulties.

I had surgery on my arms for ulnar nerve transposition in 2010. After the surgery, I could no longer play my beloved guitar for 7 years. The first surgeon was a narcissist who could care less. He was all about getting in as many surgeries as possible for the day and rushed, cutting a nerve in my arm. After the surgery he said there was nothing he could do, so he sent me to a pain specialist. I went for opinion after opinion and everyone, except for one doctor, told me the same thing -There’s nothing they could do and surgery would only make things worse. The other doctor wanted to do a surgery right away, putting the nerve under a muscle, which the 3-4 doctors I saw before him all told me would not have any results or make things worse. Finally, I saw Dr Chiu. He saw me for awhile before finally making the decision to do surgery. He removed a bunch of scar tissue and put a fat wrap around the nerve to cushion it and keep it away from muscle and the surrounding area -a technique he created. Finally, I can play my guitar again. It took a while to develop the muscle and be able to play like I can again, but before the surgery there was zero improvement and anything I tried just hurt my arm. If it wasn’t for Dr Chiu I wouldn’t be able to play my guitar now. It’s been 3 yrs since Dr Chiu did my surgery. So far so good. Thank you Dr Chiu. I came to Dr. Chiu after I had a surgery on my hand that went badly. Dr. Chiu listened to my problem and explained what he could do to fix it. The surgery went so well and now I have the full use of my hand again. He is so caring and skillful. I'm so grateful to him.

I have been a patient of Dr. David Chiu for six years. Dr. Chiu is remarkably skilled. My surgical procedures have been faultless and my follow up care has been excellent.

Dr. Chiu is one of the best hand surgeons in the world. His expertise is reflected in his practice and how he cares for his patients and the results that he meticulously produces. I have much respect for him.

He is very well experienced which gave me a good sense of security knowing I'm in good hands he didn't take any chances or shortcuts done the right way I'm very happy with his service

Dr. Chiu operated on my hand about 19 years ago after a bad accident many years ago. I have nothing but complete adulation for him. My hand lost nerves and he took his time to repair the nerves with a muscle grafting from my stomach. As complicated as the surgery was, he made it seem like an easy one. He promised that I will have nerve sensation after 5 years and magically I have all the sensation back. I am so grateful for his meticulous work done on my hand which is my dominant hand after so many years after the surgery.

Very bad surgical results. He's an irresponsible, rude, arrogant doctor. Performs unnecessary surgeries just to get money. The office is very poorly run, and no one seems to understand what is going on. He might have been one of the best, but age is creeping up on him, and he's lost it. Stay away at all costs!

Dr. Chiu, is a horrible person and doctor! I have horrific results after his surgery. I was way better before going to him. I regret going to him and allowing him to even touch me. Aside from horrific results that I now need to get fixed because I am in pain, his behavior is terrible! He rolls his eyes and talks about himself and how wonderful he thinks he is. He is completely delusional and it's scary he is still practicing. Aside from all of that he is extremely dishonest and will give you surgery just to make money off of you. He does not care at all how things turn out affer surgery and will act as though things are great. He is a total con-artist. Do not go to him, stir clear! Dr. Chiu, is a horrible person and doctor! Horrible results! He made me worse "not better."The staff is completely clueless on how to run the office. Dr. Chiu likes to talk about how wonderful he is and thr truth is he is not the special surgeon he thinks he is. He should retire!

This doctor claims he is a "saint" and his ego is so inflated. He cares nothing about you as a patient and is insulting and demeaning. Claims he is known worldwide but I never heard of him before my former hand surgeon sent me to him for nerve repair. Doesn't care to hear what hurts you, only wants accolades on his surgery. Cares more about his fancy suits and bowties than he cares about you. Disorganized office and irresponsible behavior. Don't go!!

I was diagnosed with osteomyelitis when I was in my early thirties. Three quarters of the bone that is the first digit of one finger had been eaten away by the infection. . David Chiu thome and prepare for a six week stay in the wspeechless. He removed a ganglion cyst from my fingertip only to discover a tumor growing beneath it. There is no scar where Dr. Chiu cut the finger open. More recently he fused two bones in my wrist allowing me to regain full strength!

I agree with the previous comment. He is the gold standard in every way. I had a severely infected horse bite, and every hand surgeon I approached turned me away. An infected horse bite was too much for them, but not for Dr. David T W Chiu. He took my case and my heart as well. He is a doctor with extraordinary skill and a man of great integrity and kindness. He developed microsurgery techniques that saved many hands and earned global acclaim, but he is also a gentle healer. The best!

Beware Dr. Chiu is nothing but a scam, I was told if i had nerve damage i would not have to pay for the consultation. dr. chiu said i had no nerve damage just so he can bill me $700 dollars . i was told by many other doctors that i had nerve damage my insurance also paid for Botox for the nerve damage. stay away from this doctor. he makes money from your consultation. Dr.Chiu is THE GOLD STANDARD of medicine. He listens, deliberates, and then advises. Dr. Chiu is ethical beyond all measure. He will NOT talk anyone into surgery if it is not worth the risk. He explains in detail what the odds are that you can improve your particular problem. He is interested in your well being. Dr. Chiu is smart as a whip, and has a sense of humor!
