About David Neal Hastings
Reviews for David Neal Hastings
This Doctor restores my faith in the medical community. He took his time and spent over an hour with me. Sort of makes up for those times when you are lucky to get 6-8 minutes out of a medical appointment. It is rare when a Doctor listens to everything a patient says, then explains the pros and cons for all options.
Outstanding Urologist and great staff!
He acted like my pain was a lie...like he didn't really believe me. Never came up with a diagnosis and sent me to my Internist. I changed my diet and followed what I had read online and eventually the pain went away. I truly believe I had a flare up of Interstitial Cystitis because I had a slight flare up one more time. I would never recommend him or go back.
Dr. Hastings is the meanest, rudest doctor I've ever encountered. I would slit my wrists before I would see him again.
Dr Hastings has the gentleness needed for the type of exam performed. Puts you at ease before exam and while doing what he does. I highly recommend.

Initially when I scheduled my appointment, the lady on the phone was great. She was very sweet and professional. Since I emailed over my insurance card and printed new patient paperwork when I made the appointment, I assumed insurance would already be verified, making this initial process run smoothly. Upon arrival, there was a line to check in, that of which I waited 10 minutes in before I was called to one of the FIVE receptionist. (Long enough to strike up a conversation with the lady in line behind me about how she had a kidney stone) When it was my turn to check in (another 5minutes to complete this process), I told the receptionist my info and she informed me that my insurance hasn’t been verified yet and that it would be a minute. I told her that everything should already be completed because it was emailed. She responds with,” That was just to have it in the system.” ???? (Ummm ooook) Red Flag #1 She then tells me to have a seat in the waiting area. I hear at least 6 patients have their First AND LAST name called out across the waiting area full of patients for everyone to hear. HUGE HIPPA VIOLATION. I, personally, DO NOT want a room full of strangers knowing MY 1st and LAST name! Let’s be real here. The majority of people have social media and or access to the internet. You can find out so much(even where a person lives) with only a first and last name. Having worked in the medical field for 9 years, I am VERY familiar with HIPPA and laws protecting patients privacy and this is a HUGE no no. Red flag #2. After waiting AN HOUR AND 5 MINUTES and still not being seen, I go back up to one of the receptionist and ask how much longer do they think it will be. She calls back to Dr. Taylor’s Nurse twice, both times with no answer and tells me that “You’re next. There’s no other patients ahead of you.” So I go sit back down. A few minutes pass and the receptionist finds me in the waiting area to inform me that my insurance only pays for 2 specialist visits a year and that if I still wanted to be seen it would be $200. ****IF YOU WOULD HAVE VERIFIED MY INSURANCE LAST WEEK WHEN I MADE THE APPOINTMENT YOU COULD HAVE TOLD ME I WOULD NEED TO PAY $200 TODAY!!**** Red Flag #3 At this point it’s not about the money. It’s about this ENTIRE experience that was totally unacceptable. I proceeded to tell her I’d pay the 200$ and decided to wait a little while longer. After 10 more minutes (putting me at 1hr and 15 min now and still not seeing the Dr.) I decided to leave. As I was walking out, one of the 5 receptionist asks me if I needed to check out. I replied with,” No. I don’t want to be a patient here!” And I left. Too often, as patients, we forget that the DOCTORS WORK FOR US! It’s not the other way around. Again, maybe it’s because I know how a good practice should run, that makes this type of experience unacceptable. I would be totally embarrassed if this were my practice. It’s unfortunate that I never got to meet Dr. Taylor. He may have been the best ever, but I’ll never know. Hopefully he is made aware of this poor experience. Good luck! Worse Doctor I have ever gone. He is not friendly at all. He talked to me like he is in rush to leave the room and visit next patient! I asked them for the result of CAT scan, nurse talked to me like I am going to die in next couple of days. In a day, I wanted to do my CAT Scan, the nurse call my insurance and make me sure about my copay. After 6 months, they still send me bill and ask me money!!!! I have been seeing Dr Hastings for more than 15 yrs & he has helped me out more times than I can count. Never rushes through an appointment, always asks about how I am feeling as well as my family. He treated my dad 20 or so yrs ago, when other doctors in New Orleans & Lafayette wanted to do surgery on him, Dr Hastings thought we should try something else & he implanted a couple of small pellets in my dad & I think he had 1-2 radiation treatments & he was as good as new. I have had prostate problems since my mid 30's & as I said earlier he has helped me more times than I can count. His nurses are genuine & very friendly as well.
