Dr. David Harvey Horowitz

I was really disappointed in my visit. Dr. Horowitz didn't care about my skin concerns and didn't give me time to even finish my sentences before cutting me off. Poor bedside manners. My body check was fast (about 5 minutes), not thorough, and inappropriate. Time for him to retire.

A great dermatologist and very helpful and knowledgeable

Office staff has always been great and so is Dr. Horowitz! He always made me feel comfortable and answered all of my questions!

I trust him completely, he's very careful and found two cancers on my body I had no idea I had. His nurse practitioners are excellent. I have seen Dr. Horowitz over twenty years and he is an excellent Dr.

Dr. horowitz was unprofessional and rushed. Took very little time listening to my issue before issuing a treatment plan. He did not want to answer questions I had about the proposed treatment and walked out as i was speaking to him. Avoid if at all possible.

Inappropriate, unprofessional and unhelpful. Go to any other doctor.

After recently relocating to Nashville from Florida, I needed a dermatologist. I sure picked the right one. Dr. Horowitz was extraordinarily personable, funny, caring, and just a delight. He identified the two spots on my skin with such ease and knowledge. Just an amazing experience. I could write a whole other review about the unique collection of items and decor in his office. Staff , PAs, and medical student working with him were also professional and friendly!

I usually don’t leave reviews, but I was so frustrated after my appointment last week that I don’t want anyone else to have to experience that without knowing this before setting an appointment. When I was brought back an hour after my scheduled appointment, I had less than 10 minutes where I was actually seen by Dr. Horowitz. I had come to the office to have a few different things checked out and each time I tried to talk to him, he kept trying to leave the room and his assistant kept reminding him that he was not done and that I was still talking. In addition, this man was wearing an equal opportunity offender button on his white coat, which just came off super unprofessional. After getting continuously dismissed and cut off by the doctor, I went to go check out and the person running the check out desk handed me some formula pads for my back that Dr. Horowitz had created himself that had a warning for excessively drying out your skin, which I already have an issue with, so I asked if I could put moisturizer or other products overtop of it and she went to the back and came back repeating that they’re not for my face. which I mentioned that I knew that and that this was something for my back, which my skin there dries out constantly and she just said well you shouldn’t have an issue because they are not for your face. I just have not run into a situation with healthcare professionals that just treated the whole experience so unprofessionally. Definitely would not recommend. Once upon a time, this practice may have been effective. It's currently a medical paraphernalia museum that happens to see patients. Only Dr. Horowitz really doesn't see patients... Sure, he's there. He's followed around by a team of underlings at all times. One of them does the talking, three or four others stand about with serious looking clipboards, and Dr. Horowitz sits down and cracks jokes. Meanwhile, I spent the better part of eight months on an expensive prescription regimen that only marginally worked. Dr. Horowitz suggested adding on a third medication that was even more expensive. There was no real treatment plan... just a very cozy arrangement with a local pharmacy that would deliver your meds to you from the Hermitage area. When a doctor isn't doctoring, when he's telling you how much better your skin looks when you're still enduring regular flare-ups, and when there's virtually no sign that the practice is doing much beyond billing your insurance while keeping you on absurdly expensive medications, it's time to leave. My mom saw him and he did a very good job of diagnosing and treating her. Great bedside manner~

A bit of a wait, but I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Horowitz and his office. Dr. Horowitz is very knowledgeable, friendly and funny and explains things very well and his office was very patient and willing to work with me to find the most affordable place to fill my prescription.

The second appointment was condescending and aggressive for my skin issue. It included being in my face (yes, during a pandemic), dropping f bombs, and belittling my ability to understand how lotion works. Definitely finding a friendlier place that cares about their patients.

I am still very upset regarding my appointment on 6/25/2020. The lack of social distancing with Dr. Horowitz getting up in my face while he was only treating my legs, to the overly aggressive Nurse Practitioner that over talked the already loud speaking Dr. Horowitz. The nurse literally had no bedside manner and was just very uncouth with her delivery in everything that was communicated to me. Maybe its time for him to retire? I called 5 times and left several voicemails asking for a refill on my acne medication or a call back either way. I never got a call back. I then called my pharmacy and had them reach out requesting a refill, only to find out the nurse denied it. I never even got a call back to let me know. Meanwhile, my face is breaking out. This place is terrible!! Save your time and money and go elsewhere. Every single appointment I have had here, I've had to wait over an hour past my appointment time to even get called back to see the PA. This place is a mess! I visited Doctor Horowitz with my wife for a skin and hair problem. The first appointment was a social gathering, with promises of treatment, a blood test and medicine just like the one my wife has been prescribing for her doctor in Colombia. Nothing new and especially nothing like what we expected from a doctor with more than 50 years of experience. Something of theatricality when he plucked hair from my wife's head to see them under the microscope. Maybe she wanted to impress the couple with the look of immigrants. The second date was worse, if it could be. The practitioner in 2 minutes checked my wife's head, and all she said was that she needed Biotin and that there was nothing else that could be done there to help my wife. She said that according to the results of the blood tests, she recommended that our family doctor see her. Then Doctor Horowitz came in like a waterspout and in less than a minute he said the same thing. I froze, I don't know if from anger or surprise at such a lack of professionalism. The practitioner recommended a doctor who was, according to her, the best laser treatment for hair loss (My wife has been in this treatment for more than 10 years and it is useless). Since I was not moving out of the office, the doctor opened the door and invited us to leave the office. $ 50 the first and $ 50 the second. Dr. Horowitz and his staff are efficient and friendly and knowledgeable. They answer my questions and get me in and out :-) which I appreciate.

Super nice doctor who knows this business from front to back. Very informative and answers all questions. All ways has a great joke to tell ever vist.

Removed mole. Failure to biopsy. Cancer!

The providers in this office are very friendly but don’t actually provide medical diagnosis or advice. Dr. Horowitz wanted to chit chat for the entirety of my office visit and kept telling me how much I look like a pretty news anchor, but then insisted that what I had come in with was eczema (it’s not) and wouldn’t run even a simple skin test. He just sent me away, both visits, with an unscented lotion and telling me not to dry my skin after washing my hands.

I have seen Dr. Hôrowitz with several problems a`nd was always satisfied with hi~m, he always asked if a Vandy intern could observe my treatment and I would say yes. Best Doctor that I have ever seen for medical help.

It took a little while to get back in a room but once I was in a room the wait was only minutes. He jokes around and is not all stiff like some doctors are.

Dr. Horowitz did not seem to care about my concerns. Was walking out of the door as I was asking questions. Did not help to come up with a treatment plan. I would definitely recommend someone else

Fantastic

I have been going here on and off for almost two decades. The staff is great. Dr. Horowitz is very knowledgeable, kind, and has a great sense of humor that helps you relax and feel more comfortable with skin oddities and treatments. There are also great NPs and PAs to help patients as well.

I went to Dr. Horowitz's office for the first time today. I called yesterday and primarily was really worried about a spot on my chest that had been there for a while. They were able to get me in the next day and everything went so smooth. There were a few other things that I asked to get checked out and had questions about. In the same visit, they were able to removed a couple skin tags and addressed my additional concerns. Dr. Horowitz himself is so kind and had a great sense of humor. I will simply say that it was a total waste of a day. A day in my life that I can never get back. In the room was the Doc, a lady who said she was an NP, and yet another who I'm sure did something or another. First off, I don't need three people staring at my body like I'm a science project! I walked out. I'm sure many like him, and while he may be a nice guy, I had little confidence in him. He has no website. Nothing I could find online about his education and training. He said he had been a Doc over 50 years. My advice Doc, retire, go home, pull in the shingle, trust me, it's time. Just my opinion and observations.

Had a breakout on neck to shoulder, I panicked, called and they made appointment for the next day. Treated me and the breakout gone within two days!

I Love Dr. Horowitz. My mother and I both have went to see him and now I’m taking my kids into see him. He is the best.

He will not accept Cigna if purchased through the Affordable Care Act Marketplace. I.E. Skin Cancer is treatable for those who have money, sorry to those patients in need of care who do not have the resources.

Please go to another dermatologist. This guy failed to biopsy a mole on my child even though there was a family history of melanoma. He froze it off! First bad move. Less than a year later my child was diagnosed with Melanoma and died. Highly recommend Vanderbilt or someone that can do a MOHS, yes it takes time to get in but it's better than going to someone who fails to follow reason and proper procedures that are touted within the dermatology community. Has been my dermatologist for over 25 years, and he has always been spot on for the diagnosis of my skin. Now my daughter see's him and loves him too.

Dr. Horowitz is the best dermatologist I have ever met. You can tell he actually cares and is not trying to do a quick diagnosis. He has a great sense of humor and is seasoned in his field. I’ve been going to Dr. Horowitz for 14 years! He is hands down the BEST dermatologist there is! His staff is awesome, very friendly, and they have helped my skin so much. My two sisters and brother also see Dr. Horowitz. We love him! It will be so sad to see him retire. Also... They were extremely slow to answer my calls. I was never introduced to who was in the room nor did they ask my name. It was a waste of time- they merely came in, wrote me a prescription then sent me on my way. The prescription was not covered by my insurance so they wrote me a different one and did not take the time to follow up.

I have been a patient her for almost a year now. The staff are wonderful. As for Dr. Horowitz himself, he is quirky but lovable.

Had been dealing with derm issue for 9 months with another dermatologist and was getting nowhere. Friend suggested Dr. H and I am on the road to healing. I think he is great and his staff was very nice!

I love Dr. Horowitz he is the best he's knowledgeable of what you issue is very helpful always a smile talks to you as a person he is busy but still takes time with you if you want it or need and have question. She is awesome, listens to my concerns, and is very diligent in here effort to resolve my many skin issues. I highly recommend her. Dr Horowitz is the best! My grandmother, mother, brother, aunt, sister, 4 of my children, son in laws and myself have had nothing but successful outcomes over many years. I would recommend him for anything derm wise you are needing. His staff is great and able to answer any questions you may have concerning your issues, treatment and root cause. As for Horowitz, he is a character and knows his stuff! I wouldn't go anywhere else nor would my family. Over the years I have sent many friends to see him and all have had successful stories to tell. Dr. Horowitz is great. He is very knowledgeable and has a hilarious sense of humor. He makes sure everything is taking care of at each appointment. I would highly recommend him and his staff to all my friends and family. His staff worked with me personally and I never felt like I was just a number or source of payment.

There is no finer dermatologist in Nashville than Dr. Horowitz. He doesn't do anything that doesn't need doing and he's honest and frank about what does need doing. I trust his judgement without question. Quirky, yes, but professional? Aways!

Staff, very unprofessional - good luck in figuring out who one of his many nurses are - they don't even have the sense to introduce one of them on the voice mail messaging system by name. Your a number - not a patient - not a personable staff. If you need any thing done outside of the normal routine - forget it, its not happening. Dr Horowitz is awesome but his staff is terrible. I needed to come in and get a $10 shot. Dr horrowitz said "come in anytime and get the shot. Takes 2 secs with no office visit". I tried explaining this to the old crotchety woman behind the desk and kept demanding I have to pay for an office visit. After 10mins of arguing I stormed out. I figured I would call and talk to the dr. No dice. I got a nurse who hung up on me. It was like she was trying impress someone by acting tuff. I never cursed her, yelled, or talked ugly to her. I was trying to explain what I had been told. She then told me dr Horowitz has so many nurses because he sometimes makes mistakes like telling people things that are wrong and I had to have an office visit. It's hard to believe he knows what they are saying about him behind his back. After I asked to talk to him she hung up on me. Then again when I called back. I will not be back.
