About Deborah A. Faryniarz
Reviews for Deborah A. Faryniarz
I spent half hour with the staff on the phone mostly on hold to find out that they do not accept the insurance even after I provided the insurance details at the very beginning of the call.
Dr. Farynairz has many positive reviews and the walls in her examining rooms are covered with accolades from her celebrity athlete patients. Unfortunately I must weigh in as one of her failures. I liked her immediately, she seemed knowledgable, thorough, and nice. I trusted her, enough that I chose her over surgeons who accept insurance. The year before Iâd had a spinal surgery in which my shoulder had been injured by OR staff while under anesthesia. After extensive physical therapy I still couldnât return to athletic activities and so consulted Dr. Farynairz. She told me that I had a torn tendon and asked if it was OK to cut it but, if I chose, it could be repaired. She seemed confident that this would reduce pain and that Iâd be able to resume athletic activities. She said that shoulders have many tendons and that I wouldnât miss one and also that there was a bone spur and bursa to remove. I agreed and the surgery took place. After surgery she informed me that among other things she had removed a ligament. We had never discussed a ligament and I was shocked. I NEVER would have agreed to its removal and would have insisted on repair. When I asked why it was removed she said that it was âdamagedâ. The whole thing seemed very hinky. Even after extensive physical therapy I was much worse than Iâd been before the surgery, very painful and I get tingling in my hand. Shoulder recovery can take as much as a year and a half. At this writing it has been a year and 7 months since the procedure and I am always in pain, unable to do ordinary household tasks. Athletic activities are out of the question. In their literature, Blue Cross claimed to cover 60% of the fees from of out of network doctors and I verified this by phone as well. When the time came they refused, paying only 25%. Dr. Farynairzâs staff appealed but to no effect. The irony is that I paid thousands for a bad surgery, one that has crippled me for life.
The competency of care would have been sufficient, but the overall manner of Deborah and her staff was impressive on top of that.
Dr. Deborah Faryniarz is one of the best doctors I have ever worked with. She is incredibly knowledgeable within her scope of work, and did an amazing job on my surgery. When other doctors could not provide me with a clear and concise expectation, she did, and vastly exceeded those expectations. My recovery was quick and painless, and my knee works better than ever! I would strongly recommend her. Thank you Dr. Faryniarz! :) Dr. Deborah Faryniarz is one of the best doctors I have ever worked with. After having this shoulder injury for 6 years it was time to get it fixed. Dr. Deborah Faryniarz did such a great job I finally know what it feels like to have a normal shoulder. She did a great job with surgery and the post-surgery care. She is super knowledgeable and walked me through the whole process of the surgery, the recovery and told me what issues my shoulder was having. She made me feel very comfortable and confident that I could get back on the bike and now I am back and better than ever. After having this shoulder injury for 6 years it was time to get it fixed. She charged too much for the treatment and didn't accept any negotiation from my insurance. In addition, her first treatment(injection to my shoulder pocket) didn't go through properly so that I had to do another treatment with additional charges
Dr. Faryniarz operated on both shoulders, 5 years apart! She did extensive surgery on both. Her care up to, including the surgery and postop months was beyond great! Fabulous! I am a physician myself and would have no one else do my surgery! She's the best there is!
Surgery and post check ups could not get any better. I picked Dr. Deb because I knew that with her experience and knowledge there was no better surgeon to repair my shoulder damage. Even though Dr. Deb did not take my insurance I paid for it personally because Dr. Deb was the best. Every other surgeon said time after surgery to heal was 6 moths to 12 months where Dr. Deb said it should take 3 to 6 months. Well within 2 months after surgery my shoulder was almost back to perfect performance and I was playing tennis again. I still do post operation exercises to ensure that the repairs and recovery continues to improve. Thank you Alan Cezar Surgery and post check ups could not get any better. Going to Dr Faryniarz is like being a professional athlete and having your own world class surgeon dedicated to you and your care. Because of her expertise, my shoulder has had a full, fast, and complete recovery. If I have another shoulder or knee surgery, she will by my surgeon. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Impressively, besides her mechanical engineering degree from UC Davis, her medical degree from Harvard, and her residency at Cornell’s Hospital for Special Surgery in NY (the number #1 ranked Orthopedic center in the US), while staying there to do her fellowship, she served as an associate physician for the New York Mets Major League Baseball team. She really is world class! Dr Faryniarz was impressive from the start. Having worked in the medical industry, I heavily researched surgeons and options. All of Dr Faryniaz’s reviews were amazing. I sent an email that Saturday with some of my question to the address on her website and got an answer from her that day. In my first appointment the following week, I got a full and impressive work-up and diagnosis, including on site x-rays and an ultrasound of my shoulder done by her. She reviewed everything with me that day. She said that although I had some arthritis and small rotator cuff tears, these did not require surgery and that my frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) was at a stage that had a small (20%) chance of recovery without surgery via physical therapy and anti-inflammatory treatments and that we should try this to see if we could avoid surgery. Note: Dr Faryniarz does not have any physical therapists working for her. After a few months of physical therapy it was clear my shoulder wasn’t getting better. Dr Faryniarz went over all the surgical options with me including all my questions on the pros and cons of how to deal with my impinged bicep tendon as there are pros and cons to the different approaches. She said she wouldn’t know the best approach until she saw the inside of my shoulder, but she would decide on what to do as if I was her professional football player brother: can’t ask for more than that. The surgical center was very professional. The surgery happened just as she said and Dr Faryniarz’s personal follow-up and that of her staff was first rate and personable. Even though my shoulder was one of the tightest, most inflamed and scarred shoulders she had seen, she managed to do enough other work that in my case my bicep tendon did not need to be operated on. This was a knowledgeable and experienced risk that she took on my behalf because the easy choice for the surgeon would have been to have just operated on it, too. I appreciate a surgeon that understands and practices that sometimes less can be more. I recovered faster and with less pain than expected. And my physically therapist and Neuromuscular massage therapist (who had had shoulder surgery) were both impressed enough to ask for all of Dr Faryniarz’s information so they could refer patients to her (I don’t live near Dr Faryniarz’s office). In one of my follow up visits I asked Dr Faryniarz if she did anything special that gave me a faster less painful recovery. Knowing my work in medical device, she shared with me a long list of fine details and subtleties she does and takes into account to make the results the best they can be. I work with top level minimally-invasive doctors all over the world and I could not be more impressed with detail, dedication and mastery she has. My wife was equally impressed on all counts and it’s great to have my shoulder back for hang gliding, kayaking and other sports. Dr Faryniarz is an exceptional, minimally-invasive orthopedic surgeon. Every aspect of her care was world class. Thank you Dr Faryniarz! Note: I usually don’t write such long reviews, but choice of a surgeon, is such an important decision that after my experience I wanted to share enough detail to help others decide. Dr. Faryniarz and her staff made my knee surgery the best experience that I've ever had with a medical procedure (this was my 3rd knee surgery). I could not have received better all around care, service and administrative support. I cannot recommend then enough.
Debrorah rocks! My shoulder was to the point that I could no longer paddle (surfing) or throw a baseball with my son. Dr. Faryniarz offered various options, but I chose surgery. It was as close to an enjoyable experience as shoulder surgery can get. She is awesome, and 7 months later, I am hitting the gym bag and paddling my short board better than ever. Professional and to the point. My arthroscopic knee surgery went extremely well and I was able to walk around unassisted in less than a week.
I think the proof is in the pudding. After many years of athletics and body building (reached the ripe old age of 50 in 2013), I have had my share of injuries and aches and pains. Considering I am a gym rat and use lifting as my stress relief, you can imagine how dismayed I was to learn that a large bone spur had severed my rotator cuff. I thought I was done for. But, not so fast. After some research and diligence I found Dr. Faryniarz and boy how lucky can I get. Dr. Faryniarz is the BEST. She took the time to accurately diagnose my injury, chart out the options and put the priority on getting me back to my passion. I had the left side repaired in Nov 2011 and returned to the gym the following February. All was very well with the left side and low and behold I needed the same exact repair on the right side. Had the surgery on the right side in Nov 2013 and had the same excellent results. After 3 months I was back to the gym, after 6 months was fully functional and regaining strength and after 9 months I am back to nearly full strength. Minimal pain, excellent flexibility and excellent strength. No complications, issues, nothing. Everything exactly as the Dr. said it would be. (Physicial Therapy is a MUST). If you are considering surgery, I have two suggestions: 1) DON"T WAIT, IT WONT GET BETTER, 2) GO TO DOCTOR FARYNIARZ. Thanks Doc, you are the best! Dr. Faryniarz was wonderful in diagnosing my problem with my shoulder immediately. We quickly got an MRI and x-rays and off to surgery where the problem was fixed and I am 100 percent. I had a bicep Tenotomy. Dr Faryniarz also fixed my knee problems, torn meniscus. She has done my knees and my shoulder and loved having her as my Dr. The staff was wonderful, always friendly never had to wait more than 10 minuets. Hopefully I will never have to go back for surgery but If I do it will definitely be with Dr. Farynairz. She came highly recommended by a friend and I am grateful that I listened to my friend. Dr Faryniarz performed arthroscopic surgery on my left shoulder Oct 7, 2014. I was in therapy by Friday of that week with full range of motion without severe pain the next week. I expect to be 100% soon as I was with my right shoulder that she operated on 6 years ago. I retired and moved back home to Texas a few years ago and had to make a trip to San Jose for the procedure....And, it was well worth it. An orthopedic doctor in Texas had told me he would do a shoulder replacement for me in a few years and just do the best I could until then. I don't expect to ever have to do a shoulder replacement from what Dr Faryniarz has told me. Dr Faryniarz is well educated: Engineer and then a doctor. MIT-Harvard Medical. Internship at Shoulder Institute in Manhattan, NY where she was awarded a Fellowship status. She is considered a "Shoulder" specialist. And, I think I'm proof that she is. Thank you Dr Faryniarz for your expertise and my good health, now. I recommend you seeing this doctor if you need a second opinion or in need of shoulder surgery. For 2nd opinion, you will need MRI and X-Ray within past 12 months before your office visit. For a procedure you will also need a family doctors release and cardiogram. I came in to get shoulder surgery back in January. In and out in a flash. Tons of post op care and follow up to make sure everything was healing well with an exemplary doctor who really cares about the patient. After seeing two doctors who described my condition as "bicep tendonitis," and without any kind of scan, administered a steroid injection, I called Dr. Jeter's office, to see if they could recommend someone, since his expertise was with legs & knees. They informed me that they had a new doctor who specialized in arms & shoulders. When I saw Dr. Faryniarz, she looked at my arm and said, "You don't have bicep tendonitis. You have a torn bicep, a torn labrum, and possibly a torn rotator cuff. But, before we do anything, you need X-rays and an MRI." She was absolutely correct and soon she performed surgery on a torn bicep, a torn labrum, a partially torn rotator cuff and a bone spur. It has been five years since my operation and you'd never know I had surgery. The shoulder looks great and is better than brand new! My husband and I think Dr. Faryniarz is a miracle worker.
