Dr. Deborah Leslie Kos

Dr Kos abruptly discontinued treatment because I expressed disappointment in her services. She stated verbally that this was the reason. When I asked if that was going in my records, she said no, that the"official" reason was that the meds she's had me on for the past two years are suddenly too complicated for her. This is a provider who retaliates unethically when faced with honesty. "Oh, you have a complaint? Your experience and opinion are completely invalid and I won't see you again. Go to the ER." My husband witnessed the whole thing. After he got over the initial shock) he said I don't need providers like that. No one does.

Abruptly discontinued treatment (after several years). I expressed a negative opinion of her after she insisted I'm not as sick as I said I am (I am totally bedridden due too a neurological disease, a fact my PCP is well aware of). At our next appointment, she told me she would no longer see me because I was so disrespectful. When I asked if that was going in my medical records, she said no--that she would write that my case had become too complicated for her. Absolutely unethical. Almost all her online reviews are negative due to her personality. I always enjoyed interacting with her--this is not a review of her personality. This is solely based on the ethics of retaliation by a medical provider who caused harm by abruptly discontinuing treatment. My husband, who witnessed the entire thing, agrees.

I have been seeing Dr Kos for several satisfying years, but after my most recent appointment I am on the hunt for a new provider. She directly countermanded my medical doctor's instructions for my physical disease. When I asked her how much she knew about the disease, she said she'd been working with people with this disease since the 90's and therefore didn't need to refresh her knowledge. The vast majority of the research and knowledge of this disease has been in the past 10 years. Quite frankly, her knowledge is so far out of date she has no business discussing it at all.

Dr Kos is awesome I have been seeing her for several years now. I don’t know what world the people are on that left a one star review, they might possibly made a mistake and walked into the wrong office. She is empathetic, compassionate, and understanding. I have never had a problem with her prescribing the right medication to me and when she tells me it will not work I listen to her. Why?....... cause she is my doctor! I highly recommend her to any one that needs a good prescribing psychiatrist. You will not be let down!

I’ve been seeing Dr. Kos for years now, and I’m truly grateful to her for her kindness. She is a little reserved at first (a lot of people are), but she really does care. I don’t know where I’d be if it wasn’t for her!

Please do not go here very unprofessional I was a new patient and am currently in school which she knows this so when I 1st saw her I told her I might be 10 to 15 min late to some of my appointment she was fine with it so today Augest 29th,2019 got to my appointment it was at 330 got there at 340 and she refused service to me and very unprofessional she's all get out of my office now she gave me my blood work results and told I can't tell u what is wrong you will have to go somewhere else you where late so am dropping you as a patient I was all can you please tell me what was on my blood work then she yelled and told me get out of my office now or you will be escorted out by the police am like wow ok so I left I just wanted to warn everyone DO NOT COME HERE you call the office and it goes to a voicemail they call u back 2 to 3 days later so strange

Dr.kos is extremely unprofessional. Save yourself the hell she’ll put you through. She has no empathy and is extremely rude. After seeing her I left her office in tears feeling helpless. When I asked for a medication I’ve been on for years she said “I can’t prescribe that because the state is watching me” ok??? I understand there are laws for scheduled prescriptions but her explanation gave no reasoning. She has no interest or care in helping people in need I’m not sure why she’s a psychiatrist.

I have found Dr. Kos very helpful and interested in my son's well being. She is fairly prompt to respond to phone calls. However, Dr. Kos is set up to where she does not counsel people. Her primary purpose is medication management. As long as you understand that she will not ample time to visit you are in good hands. She is very knowledgeable.

Don't go to this psychiatrist. The information on the location of her office was incorrect, so I was 15 minutes late to my first appointment with her. After I finally found her office, she was completely disrespectful right away to both me and the person who took me to my appointment. She refused to help me until I got blood testing, and after I had testing I was prescribed meds for bipolar. I have major depression and anxiety. Thanks to her, me getting treatment has been pushed back for months.

Dr. Kos is very professional . I would recommend her for anyone that really wants to find the best medication for them. She is very through with her in-take notes, and really cares.

Took my $ and said she couldn't help me after being told she could...go to someone 30-40 years younger

We have an autistic daughter and Dr. Kos has done a great job for us in managing her care. We have found her to be a good listener and offers great support and advice. Finding a DR. who can do med management for autism in Albuquerque is hard and we tried a number of docs before finding her.

Why is this person still in practice?? Dr Kos needs to update herself on standard patient care if she wants to retain any patients. I was told before my first appointment that she doesn’t do counseling, only medication management yet she is billing for both services. So I was prepared for simple mental health care. Yet she doesn’t like the way I talk and almost immediately wanted me to go elsewhere after she wasn’t able to complete the needed paperwork for my insurance to approve the medication.

Spent most of the "evalualuation" visit doing paperwork that could/should have been done beforehand. She was more interested in working on her computer than trying to understand why I was there. in general she's dull and uninterested seems too tired to care about anything. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Would NOT recommend. She does not listen to the needs of the patient and does not have any empathy for what a patient is experiencing. She is condescending and disrespectful.
