Dr. Dhiren Chhotalal Mehta

I went in for a preventive colonoscopy, he never explained to me that if I had a previous one done even over 10 yrs ago that it would change the billing code from a Preventive to Diagnostic, costing me many hundreds of dollars instead of being free. I was told I would be the first appointment of the day, I arrived on time, put on a gurney and IV started and waited over an hour for him to arrive. The results were never sent to my Dr's office. I could go on and on about the VERY unprofessional office. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY!!

Doctor is fine. The office staff is terrible. I'm changing doctors because of their attitude. This happened in 12/18 and again 9/20. Sorry Doc----get some better office staff who don't give patients an attitude.

Dr. Mehta has the best bedside manner. His staff is kind and very caring! I owe him my life! Thank you all!

This office is ridiculous. Impossible to get a phone call back about any questions and the front office staff is exceptionally rude. Stay away from this practice!

The intake nurse was fantastic, attentive and seemingly genuinely interested in my state of being. The dr. I saw also seemed great. My problem is that although I told the staff about my medical history of kidney transplant, arrhythmia, possible high potassium levels they prescribed me peg plus electrolytes which I began to take without question. As I drank more and more of the liquid I began to feel tightness in my chest, palpitations, and was getting jerks or spasms. So I read the label and it had a kidney damage warning, a warning that it could make arrhythmia worse even cause heart attack, and that taking it with a medication I already take can increase all the risks. When I called to discuss this the following morning, also canceling the procedure I was given an attitude and hung up on before I finished my sentence, when I spoke with someone at the office and explained that the medicine was dangerous for me I was laughed at and because of that didn't wish to speak with any one there anymore. Because of my experience I have been dealing with my extreme pain and discomfort since. Only recently am I considering trying to get a diagnosis again. Again, and this is the reason they get 3 stars and not 2, everything besides their obviously poor choice of drug and reaction to being disagreed with on that subject was great. As an existing patient i had to be seen for blood in stool and they would not squeeze me in for six days.

Phenomenal dr - phenomenal bedside manner. Have been his patient for nearly 15 years dealing with ulcerative colitis for 10 years, culminating ultimately into having my entire colon removed with a re section surgery five years ago at mt sinai hospital. Dr. Mehta literally white gloved my care as he passed me on to excellent surgeons in NYC with whom he continued to follow up re: my recovery. I recommend him to everyone who needs a specialists care. WORTH the long wait in office to see him.

A wonderful doctor. His staff needs further training in explaining the costs. DO NOT GO TO SHIRLEY AS YOU WILL INCUR AN EXPENSIVE SITE FEE depending on your insurance. I was not told this and learned a $$$$ lesson.
