Dr. Donna Aiko Kono

I really love this doctor, I feel as though she took a lot of my concerns into account and was very informative. Very personable and I always felt like she answered my questions and then some. I had very positive experiences with Dr. Kono.

Very condescending and dismissive. Prefers to spend majority of the appointment lecturing you, "you should've done this", "you shouldn't do that", (doesn't bother to ask if you're already doing them and/or why something happened) and takes up the whole time talking about herself. Very condescending and dismissive. Prefers to spend the majority of the appointment lecturing you, "you should've done this", "you shouldn't do that", (doesn't bother to ask if you're already doing them and/or why something happened) and takes up the whole time talking about herself. I didn't book an hour of my life just to hear you talk about YOUR life story.

I explained to her about how I was feeling brushed off and not taken seriously by other doctors (they refused to diagnose me or run tests, just tell me I was probably fine) and she not only brushed me off but defended such doctors despite not knowing them. (I also want to note I never verbally talked poorly about them and their abilities, just simply how I felt mistreated by them) If you’re reading this Dr. Kono, please recognize that the bare minimum is making your patients feel respected and validate their experiences and feelings. And if you’re reading this as a future or present patient of Dr. Kono, stand your ground because you know your body better than anyone else, and if a doctor downplays a health concern, always get a second opinion! I saw this doctor many years ago when I was in a post graduate program. I can’t remember what I saw her for, but she snapped at me and told me I sound like an 18 year old girl. Maybe it was true, but it wasn’t a kind or necessary thing to say to me. Doctors take an oath to do no harm, but they can harm when their words have barbs in them. Maybe she thinks it’s okay to treat her patients like this because they’re students? I don’t think it’s okay at all.

I'm shocked that Dr. Kono has such poor reviews. She's one of the most kind and caring doctor's I've ever had the pleasure to work with. She always takes what I say seriously and is not hesitant to order bloodwork or tests to be sure everything is ok. During an appointment, I mentioned to her what I thought was a minor secondary complaint unrelated to the visit, and she ordered bloodwork just to be sure. The bloodwork showed that I have a serious disease and without her intervention, I might very well have died. No joke, I owe her my life. I'm shocked that Dr. Kono has such poor reviews. Dr. Kono was my primary care doc when I was a student at UC Davis and she was the first doctor ever to express concern about my goiter. Thanks to her, I had an ultrasound and biopsy and now have my thyroid checked every 2 years to monitor nodule growth. I felt very well looked after under her care. WORST DORCTOR!!! She should definitely be fired for forceful putting people for vaccination. She has forced me to vaccinated without my consent. She has been forceful the whole time and misleadingly told me that HPV vaccination is required for students to study here( as I am an international student so I was very clear, so I just trusted what she said). She has ignored all my questions, and simply googled my questions on her computer and showed me. SHE SHOULD BE FIRED! I am very surprised why she is still legally a doctor. WORST DORCTOR!!! Condescending, belittling, and dismissive of any of my questions. It's a real shame UCD is affiliated with this "doctor". I would have been better off not going to see her at all. I left with more questions than before. She even divulged UCD medical budget information to me, like how they're more than $1,000,000 in "the red", which I assume means debt, and how there's a lot of anorexics in UCD. I'm positive that doctors can't divulge this type of information. I hope that UCD straightens up and fires her soon. She snapped at me for not directly answering her questions right away. All she cared about discussing was how I was going to pay. I felt disgusted at this lack of empathy. She couldn't even take 5 minutes to check me first before discussing payment. Great doctor. Had her for years. Honest and effective. She's no nonsense.

I worked with Dr. Kono for years. She is an amazing doctor. I am sure she cam rob some people in a wrong way. However, she is extremely competent, efficient, and really, really cares. I wish she could be my doctor.

If you want a greedy, pathetic, good-for-nothing doctor, I'd highly recommend Dr. Kono. I'm not even sure if Dr. is an appropriate name for her. On my first appointment with her, I was taken aback by how condescending she was. She divulged things that you would think are private, like how the UCD student hospital is $1,000,000 in debt, and how there are "a ton of anorexics in UC Davis". I feel cheated out of my $15. She ended the session with "good luck with that" as she walked out of the door.

Dr. Kono is very knowledgeable, but unfortunately prefers to lecture to her patients rather than listen to their concerns, thus overly prolonging the visit and causing her to be late to her next appointments.

Terrible. Gave completely inaccurate information. How can someone who went to medical school even say that body itch CANNOT be a result of liver issues? It is scary that people like her are allowed to practice medicine and people put their lives in their hands.
