This past December I experienced chest pains and slight shortness of breath. I was transferred to TriStar Centennial for a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) of my left, center, and right coronary arteries (90, 70, and 50 percent blocked) that were not good candidates for stents because of location and length of blockage. Strictly by luck I was assigned to Dr. Nguyen (pronounced win). He was very professional, reassuring, and explanatory in his conversations before and after surgery. He did not have any hint of arrogance that you often see in some highly technically competent surgeons (he does heart transplants as well as CABGs), but is very pleasant to talk with, and explains some complex processes in ways that you and your spouse can easily understand. The surgery went exceptionally well and he stopped by many times to check on me. At my six week follow-up he went over all of my notes and explained a couple of items I had questions on. Depending on how you view it, the incision was sewed up so well that really is not even a way to see that I’ve had open heart surgery. Most people comment that they can’t find it. One person said that if they went through what I went through they would want some big scar to prove what happened to them. I am fine with an almost invisible line that can hardly be called a scar. Overall, the care I received from him from a technical competence, bedside manner, and follow-up standpoint have been excellent and definitely a six star experience.

Dr. Nguyen operated on my heart 2 1/2 years ago. I healed very quickly and have had no problems with my surgical sites or cardiac function since. I could not recommend him more highly.

Dr. Nguyen performed my husband’s aortic valve replacement. At our first appointment he took extraordinary care and time to explain to us what was wrong with my husband’s heart. During surgery I received calls every hour or less letting me know how the surgery was going. After surgery he and his nurse practitioner, Laura, saw my husband every day ensuring he was recovering from his surgery. Dr Nguyen did an exceptional quad bypass on my husband and saved his life when he came into the ER with a heart attack. By a miracle, Dr. Nguyen was on duty when we came in. The massive surgery healed beautifully with no complications and Dr. Nguyen went above and beyond, doing extra work to make sure the bypasses lasted for decades to come as he is a young cardiac patient. They kept me informed with calls throughout the surgery. My husband had to be kept on a heart pump during and after surgery, when they took him off the heart pump that had been keeping him alive, Dr. Nguyen did not leave him. Without any announcement, he discreetly went and sat at the nurse's station, working on the computer, just outside the door within eye view of my husband for more than an hour to be right there in case my husband coded. Dr. Nguyen is an all-star cardiovascular surgeon and Tristar Cardio made a brilliant move acquiring him. Tristar Cardio's office is exemplary in customer service. They always answered the phone, for every question, with a live HUMAN BEING on the phone and nurses responded with urgency every time. We are forever grateful for Dr. Nguyen and his exceptional work.
