Esther Henkle

She takes the time to listen to my concerns, great doctor. I have been looking for a Dr. for a long time and I'm glad I found her.

We found Dr. Henkle through online search and it turned out to be one of the worst things to have ever happened to us. Both my wife an I have serious medical conditions, none of which this lady knew much about. She asked us to let her know about what medications we were taking and she went on to prescribe these medications without bothering to verify with our previous provider for the accuracy. She was careless and didn't show much concern about us. She went on to say that she would not prescribe control substances, even if that is in the best interest of her patient. She overcharged us by inputting the wrong codes; we were seeing her for our annual physical. She ordered CMP, CBS, TSH, A1c, all of which were supposed to be free of charge as one time annual PREVENTATIVE labs. However, because she input the wrong codes, we were charged over 400 dollars for what should have been free. When we brought this up to her, she did not seem to care. She also was annoyed when we would ask her questions about our bodies or medications and did not seem to know how to answer most of our questions. Please, DO NOT see this lady. You will regret it!

Let me start out by saying that I did not know this woman from Eve, and was in the process of transferring care from a Low-Income Clinic over to The University of Washington. I visited on August 5, 2020 to go over my documented medical conditions with Dr. Henkle, and receive assistance in filling out FMLA forms (which I had done several times previously through my old PCP). Immediately when Dr. Henkle arrived she looked at me and stated that she could not complete the FMLA because she did not see any documented conditions in my chart that would match my symptoms. I was shocked by this because I had been being seen and treated for several years for several nerve disorders, as well as other less relevant conditions. I asked to see my chart, and at this point informed Dr. Henkle that she did not have all of my information because none of it had been sent from my previous clinic. I immediately wanted to end the appointment there, but she continued insisting that she did not believe I had any of the conditions for which I was being treated (specifically Spinal Stenosis) because I am too young. After I became offended by this she goaded me into stating that I would show her the imaging report where they located the injury to my spine (she did not have a copy). The rest of the visit was horrible, and was spent with me insisting that I had been being treated for documented conditions and telling her how horrible this experience was and that I wanted to leave. Without my consent, this woman generated a prescription for Duloxetine so that she could fraudulently bill my insurance for 'treating me.' I have filed multiple complaints with the UWNC Belltown (I filed one immediately after I left the room with Dr. Henkle and another via email) and the Washington Medical Commission - To no avail. The WMC negligently reviewed my claim and assumed I simply wanted a refund for the visit, so they referred me to contact several agencies that deal with fraud. I have advised them that my issue was her conduct and the fact that she fabricated our contact, and used her position as a doctor and abused her power. She needs to lose her medical license.

I'll start by disclaiming that I'm an easy patient. I have a genetic condition that makes me prone to certain potentially serious diseases. In part due to that, I live a very healthy life, exercise a lot, eat a very balanced diet, etc. My first (and last) lab test with Dr. Henkle offered a result that was out of the usual range and could be an early marker of one of the diseases I'm prone to. She disregarded this result despite my repeatedly raising concerns about it and referred me to genetic counseling (which I don't need, I've already gone through that) without even getting on the phone with me, despite my repeated requests to speak with her. Now looking for a new doctor.
