My experience with Dr. Karas has been very positive regarding both his professional skill and bedside manner. I have severe arthritis as well as some more weight to lose, but he never mentioned my weight negatively nor did I ever feel "blame" from him. Excellent In treating me..technique in injecting the knee is beyond reproach. He has always been kind and caring...he knows I can get anxious and speaks to me always in a gentle manner. When I read some of the negative evaluations, I wonder what part the person writing them played in the interaction....do you really think he would be rude and 'lie' to you???? What would he gain from that?...Well, despite other experiences, he remains one of my favorite doctors and if the day comes when I do need a knee replacement, I know I will chose him to be on the other side of the OR table!

Sorry but absolutely no bed side manner. My surgery was upsetting enough as it was. Rotator cuff …. VERY abrupt and cold manner. I am being honest. The overall surgery went well. But when you are hurting it would have been beneficial if the Dr took his time and was more considerate of my physical struggles…….

Coming up on the 10-year anniversary of my shoulder surgery by Dr. Karas. Absolutely zero issues. Sorry I avoided it as long as I did.

Unfortunately did not have a good experience with this doctor. He misdiagnosed my shoulder pain as a frozen shoulder. Said the scan which was done at Caremount was not very good and that the radiologists report was not valid. Mind you this was a caremount Radiologist. He suggested PT and should be fine. Since I had already had PT and my condition had not improved I did not follow his recommendation. Lucky for me I found one of the best surgeons in Manhattan who had to do extensive surgery to repair all the issues in my shoulder actually two surgeons both agreed that surgery was the answer. I did not have frozen shoulder and the scans were just fine. While I have read great reviews on Dr Karas clearly not in my case. He was arrogant and condescending and could not be bothered not sure why but thankfully I had a wonderful surgeon and after much pain and PT and hard work my shoulder is doing very well!

Very competent. Dr. Karas operated on my husband's shoulder 3 years ago. He repaired a torn ligament and removed arthritis. Now the repaired shoulder is better than the undamaged one. My 64 year old husband outlifts the current world record for his age group in benchpress.

Really nice guy. Knowledgeable and not a blow hard hot shot type like my last orthopedic. That's what I originally wrote. He bailed on my surgery because he wasn't getting paid enough and removed my insurance.

I hurt my knee 6 months ago. I was told Dr. Karas is one of the best in the field. When I had my consultation with him, I told him that I wanted to continue my heavy sport activities, particularly Tennis and Zumba. He told that the only way to insure I can continue my activities would be with surgery. So naturally I had the surgery. Few months after the surgery when I returned to him, i asked him when I could begin my activities. I was shocked when he said he wouldn't recommend doing so. THEY SHOULD ANSWER THE PHONE

Dr Kara's treated both my parents and is an excellent doctor. He gave my Mom knee injections hyaluronic acid that has no side effects and it lubricanted her knee and reduced both friction and pain. Kept her going for many years. She said he had the golden touch when doing the injections.

I have seen Dr Karas on multiple occasions for a deteriorating arthritic shoulder. He has always been thorough, thoughtful, caring and has treated me as a thinking person who deserves the unvarnished truth about my condition and treatment alternatives.
