I have had a foot/ankle condition for almost two years. Previous foot/ankle specialists diagnosed my problem but then dismissed me with no plan on how to live with it. Dr. Nickel explained all possible options with me patiently with enough detail for me to fully understand the full nature of my diagnosis. She showed care and kindness. Grateful to have found him.

Dr Nickel understood my unwillingness to undergo a knee replacement due to my husband’s health issues. Such a surgery would leave me unable to care for my husband and my husband would be unable to care for me. He presented another option which we are pursuing.

I broke my right humorous just below the shoulder. After X-rays and a physical evaluation, Dr. Nickel strongly recommended allowing it to heal in place, despite being significantly displaced. He said that surgery was not recommended because the procedure itself would be damaging to the soft tissue surrounding the arm and shoulder. So I ended up in a sling with a broken arm. I had checkups alternating between Dr Nickel and his Physician Assistant, Carrie. They told me healing was progressing. After several months of physical therapy, it seemed to me that my arm was not healing and I pushed for more testing. After the requested testing, Dr. Nickel discovered that my arm was not healing and I had a non-union. So I suffered the pain and expense and lost time wasting my time following his one-sided advise for nine months. I have now had surgery and am very pleased with the procedure and the results. The procedure resulted in no damage and my arm in healing quite nicely.

Dr Nickel is a very good listener. He addressed my problem and made sure test were ordered. I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Nikel was great. He listened to what I had to say, He took xrays of both knees and went over them with me in detail. He recommended physical therapy and gave me an exercise to do for my heel. He even took the time to show me how to do the exercise. He was very thorough and did not rush through the appointment.

It was my first visit with Dr. Nickels. From the minute I walked into the office I felt very comfortable. Before meeting Dr. Nickels, I met his PA Kari Odeenath. She started my visit off feeling very comfortable. Then I met Dr. Nickels and he was just great. He answered all my questions and he made me feel as if he could really give me excellent care. My over all experience was perfect!

I saw Dr Nickel for both ankle and forefoot problems. My conditions were difficult to diagnose and Dr Nickel was methodical and expert, providing me with his thought process at all points. Eventually I opted for surgery to scope right ankle, remove 40 year old hardware, and to treat Morton’s Neuroma. We did it all in one surgery and everything went great. I completely trust Dr. Nickel and have found him to be both professional and personable. I have also had carpel tunnel surgery through Ventura Orthopedics with Dr Gluck and that was a fantastic experience also. Top marks across the board for everyone at Ventura Ortho!

I’m so happy to have found Dr. Nickel. There are very few good orthopedic doctors who specializes in feet in the area where I live, but Dr. Nickel is highly experienced and I feel totally confident under his care. He has a warm, personal manner, the examination was thorough, and he took the time to address my concerns. Ventura Orthopedics is run efficiently and all of the staff are friendly and helpful. I have no hesitation in recommending Dr. Nickel and this practice.

Dr Nickel and the staff at Ventura Orthopedic are great to work with. I feel in very competent hands with them. I searched for quite some time for a surgeon to perform a complex orthopedic procedure on me. Dr. Nickel came highly recommended, and I could not be more pleased with my progress.

Dr. Nickel came recommended to me and I liked his bio, he seemed authentically engaged in his profession and the care of his patients. I went in for a bunion consult. I got a great education about bunions, the proposed treatment, the range of severity and where my bunions fit in. Dr. Nickel communicated this easily, and allowed me time to ask questions. He did not give me the impression he was in a hurry at all. His office was clean and following pandemic protocols. The office is tech savvy. When they took my foot X-rays, they appeared on the computer display in my exam room within seconds after being taken. All around a great experience.

Excellent visit. Dr. Nickel is a kind, knowledgeable professional.

He’s a champ.

Dr Nickel has treated me for knee pain and operated on both my knees (lateral releases). No pain for 8 years, now however Arthritis has developed (age related) He is an excellent Orthopedic Physician and is highly recommended by many fellow RN’s. I am now retired but I always ask other OR RN’s for their opinion. Very professional and skilled in his field. Very professional office, PA’s and staff.

Great experience. Dr. Nickel is very down to earth and patiently explained everything. I also really like the app used via text to reach me and ask for this review. It’s slick! The picture of him in the text is another cool feature AND it actually looks like him TODAY not 20 years ago! Great job IT folks!!!

Dr. Nickel has done a complete ankle revision as well as a carpal tunnel release with excellent results! Won’t go to any other Dr. Even came back to CA for second carpal tunnel release! Dr. Nickel is the greatest. His PA Kari is a wonderful help, too’

Dr. Nickel addressed possibilities and repair an minimal level. He has been very open and honest on the possibilities of my knee and arthritis issues!

Dr. Nickel was very polite, informative, and offered options for care. He was respectful of my need to take a little time to review my options, and was open to discussing my questions regarding my care. His Physician Assistant who performed the initial exam and reviewed my health history was amazing, and listened to all of my concerns.

Dr. nickel is a very thorough physician. What I like most about his dealing with the patient is that he will give you alternatives or options for whatever the problem is without immediately stating surgery is necessary. I feel good about recommending Dr. Nickel which I’ve already done so twice.

I cound't be happier with the care that I receive from Dr. Nicol and his entire staff. Having a disabled child, I have been to many doctors. Dr. Nicol was the first that ever offered to pray with me before surgery. This mant a lot to me being a man of Faith.

Dr. Nickel is so caring and compassionate about his patients . I have trusted him with four surgeries so far and am very pleased . I would recommend him to anyone in need of orthopedic care .

I hope i never break a bone again, but if i do i will not hesitate to go to Dr. Nickle. I feel he has my best interests at heart. Not only Dr. Nickle, but also his staff. I cannot say enough nice things about everyone that works there.

Awesome physician.. compassionate and caring.

I found him to have very poor patient skills. He always referred me to his wonderful PA Kari. He was supposed to straighten my toes and now they hang lower than the rest of my toes on that foot causing me to hit them when walking barefoot. I have even broken one of them because it hit a wooden step in my home. My foot looks totally deformed and cramping has been a constant problem. When he took the pins out of my toes, I had some questions and he just sloughed me off and left the room.

i will begin this review by saying thank God that i have Dr. Nickel. Dr. Nickel goes beyond to find the truth of my diagnose of my ankles, which no other doctors had. Dr. Nickels was not satisfied with the Xrays taken so he recommended a CT SCAN. He called after hours (6.00pm) and we spoke. Dr. Nickel explained in detail about the findings of the CT SCAN, I'am very greatful. There is hope for my ankles and i trust Dr. Nickel to do the operation and have me walking wtih my balance back. Dr. Nickel , in my opinion is the Best surgeon EVER! He is very theral & honest in explaining what needed to be done in my case. The staff is very welcoming, & always have smiles on their faces. I've been to doctors offices that have rude receptionists, Ma's, nurses etc.. Not the case here. I would most definitely recommend Dr. Nickel , Ventura Orthopedic, to anyone who would like the best care! This is the place to go!;) I am 100% satisfied!
