Did the eye exam in about three minutes. Did not get a thorough background on the child. Said it was a cognitive processing issue when his psychological report stated his cognitive processing and working memory are normal. She insisted he was fast on his test, and he answered that he does his test slow. I also explained to her that was a goal that we discussed in the teacher conference. Told the doctor he had blurry vision and teary eyes and could not see objects far away. He got about half of the letters on the exam incorrect and she insisted it was a cognitive processing issue and that he needed to slow down. It honestly looks like a big ball of projection because she was going so fast, maybe she needs to slow down Wasted my benefit for the year now we will have to pay out-of-pocket to get them retested. She insisted the test will come out the same. I told her if the results are the same then that is good for my child, but if they are not, I would send her the results so she can learn from it. She said she doesn’t need to learn anything because she went to the mayo clinic. Highly unprofessional, and very poor treatment. UPDATE MY SON WENT TO THE SECOND OPINION TODAY (PAID OUT OF POCKET) AND WALKED OUT WITH GLASSES AND A 3 MONTH FOLLOW UP BECAUSE THEY SAW SOMETHING IN HIS OPTIC NERVES THAT WERE ALARMING!!! DR LAL SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN, SHE’S EATING AWAY AT PEOPLES BENEFITS!!!

I'm glad I didn't make it to the appointment. They cancel my son appointment with not explanation or options of change the appointment for another time. Never had an issue before for a letter in the insurance, and the lady that called said it can be fraudulent ????????‍♀️ really?

I say to her “I have been waiting for someone to come out and now you tell me I have 10 minutes to fill it out or I have to leave?” I am literally the only one in her waiting room with a baby in a stroller, two kids, a diaper bag and all before my apt time. Apparently, she did not like my question and told me she did not have time for this and was going to cancel me anyway. There was more back and forth between the two of us which included her telling me sarcastically that she is sure I must have not received the paperwork in my email which I responded to her that it is hard to do with three kids which is why I arrived early, I also made sure to tell her she was rude, and I was shocked at her behavior. This is when I asked for her name and mentioned to her that I will be writing a review about my experience. Now, I never write reviews because again, I truly don’t have time, but this behavior was so terrible, and in front of my children, at a pediatric ophthalmologist office! She told me to go right ahead and that her name was Allison. This next part is also crazy, as I left, I forgot my diaper bag on a chair inside, so she opens the door to tell me I forgot my bag. As I am walking towards her to grab it, she drops it on the floor! I am shaking at this point. I get to my car and felt tears about to start but I didn’t want to show my kids that this woman got to me. I called the number on the website and told them what had just happened. The woman on the phone was amazing and super apologetic. She apologized for Allison’s behavior and rescheduled my apt. I thanked her but told her I would never step foot in that office again. Just to make sure, I asked her if there was an Allison who worked there which she confirmed and told me she was the office manager. NOW THIS IS THE CRAZIEST PART OF ALL, I went back on the website to get Allison’s last name and I was not ready for what I saw, “Allison” was in fact that actual Doctor herself! Dr. Lal was the woman in the picture on her website which my son saw and said to me “Is that the mean lady from the doctor?” Dr. Lal threw her office manager under the bus when I told her I would be writing a review on her. Allison, if you are reading this, I recommend finding a new workplace where your boss respects you instead of passing as you to not get her name dirty. Dr.Lal, a “family” doctor kicked out a mother with her three kids in tow for arriving early to her office. Dr. Lal has zero empathy, zero bedside manner, zero manners and I am thankful that this happened because I would never want her around any of my kids. The doctor is very, very rude. First, she was literally screaming at her employees on the phone. Then she cancelled my appointment because I said I had been waiting 25 minutes and had to take off work for an appointment at a specific time. No one else was in the waiting room and it was “lunch time”. I had all my paperwork filled out online and didn’t need to sign anything. Avoid this place at all costs. No wonder no one wants to work for her, I’m sure they have all quit for being treated terribly. Oh and the rude lady on the phone, that’s the doctor. Maybe if she was nicer she wouldn’t have to play receptionist too.

It is an unsafe office, the professional setting is absent, the attention is the worse from the doctor which is the receptionist, secretary and probably the janitor too Will ever go back there

This is a tough review because I did find Dr.Lal to be very kind and I’m sure knowledgeable - however, as a previous patient mentioned there were minimal questions answered and we were clearly rushed out the door due to a lunch break and full schedule. My son is 11months so patience and time is something we were hoping to receive from a doctor. The doctor was apologetic for rushing us out however I would not feel comfortable moving forward with her due to the rush during the exam and after - it just did not leave us feeling confident in her suggested plan of action. I believe that once this office gets the appropriate staff things will run better and she can serve her patients with the individual attention that they deserve but until then I would avoid it and go somewhere more organized. We drove a long distance due to a recommendation but left pretty disappointed and with more questions than we walked in with.. - In response to the owners reply - thank you for your wishes however the only person that arrived 20min late was the doctor to check us in. We were punctual, submitted our forms online, and even printed the signed copies to make things quicker. The patient that was in the waiting room when we arrived had their appointment at 11:30 and she said no one had come to greet her - Doctor came out and saw her first although our appointment was at 11am. Poor acknowledgment on the behalf of the owner. Although I understand questions can be asked in future appointments that doesn’t take away from a simple discussion and dialogue the day of the first appointment seeing as you’re prescribing my 10month old glasses. We had a wonderful experience with Dr. Lal from start to finish. The office communicated with us many times before the day of to ensure all necessary forms were completed so that at the time of our visit we could come in and was seen right on time. Dr. Lal made my daughter feel very comfortable and explained her diagnosis to me in a clear and understanding way. I was also so appreciative that we were able to get an appointment within a week while calls to other providers were months out. Very happy and highly recommend. We came here when our child was a baby then had to switch doctors. The other doctors always rushed him and I never felt comfortable at Eye Surgery Associates, my child has a cataract he was born with. At age 9 I searched out Dr Lal again and couldn't be happier. I took my son here for the first time and we were seen right on time (down to the minute)! For the best experience it helps to just follow the instructions given before arriving for your appointment. Disgusting, horrible unprofessional doctor, if you care about your child’s health you won’t even come close to this place

As a mother my concern was simply to check if my son sees all colors correctly and do a decent check up. We have never seen any eye doctors before. So our first check-up visit started with doctors warning that if we don’t like anything we can always leave because doctor has plenty of other patients. ????????‍♀️ Very nice to know that kids medical business is growing and doctor earns that much so she can afford that kind of attitude to her clients. However, doctor is still accepting new patients. Why? The question left unanswered. Then doctor started to do eye testing with my son. When I tried to stand up and see how he responds to questions about colorful digits, doctor in a rude manner told me to sit on my chair. Why? The question left unanswered. Then doctor took eye drops without explaining what’s the name of the drug, what’s it for, without asking if my son is on any current medication. (And he actually was because the couple of days before he was diagnosed with pink eye so we took antibiotics eye drops) - no one cared. Why? The question left unanswered. After visit we did not receive any test results not in the patient portal nor in papers as well as name of tests and explanation of what was actually done and what’s doctor medical opinion and conclusion. Only one that I heard at the end of the visit was “he’s ok” and “kids need to stay kids”. What does “ok” mean? What “kids”? The questions are still left unanswered. In addition, there’s no receptionist in office and no one meets and greets clients as well as no one explaining what’s going on in doctor office. The last phrase I heard from doctor was “I need to take other patients and there’s my lunch soon” in a meaning that we have to leave as soon as possible. ????????‍♀️ Afterwards I gave a call to the office because I still needed to understand what to do with antibiotics drops and is it safe to take them with unknown drops that we have been “tested”. But office was closed on lunch… I have visited many doctors but have never met this kind of rude and careless attitude to clients who are actually sick kids and this is very sad to see that kind of unprofessional and careless attitude. As a client who pays money and provides insurance I need to be satisfied with services I’m paying for and not really interested if doctor is not able to schedule his time correctly or any other issues. As a mother my point is to be 100% sure about my sons health and I am not really interested in anything else. And after this visit I have a feeling that nothing was done accurate and no one really cared about my sons eyes. So I’m still waiting for medical records in my portal that I spend time to install and will be seeing another doctor who will be more attentive to patient needs and who is able to listen. i had crossing of my eyes and could not wear my glasses anymore and i am in high school. i was struggling so much. other doctors dissmissed me but once i saw Dr Lal i kndw she was smart and could help me. my mom was skeptical about surgery but i needed something done. Dr Lal operated in me and immediately it was amazing. Unfortunately I did not make it into the office due to a reschedule with over a 48hr notice, and a same day cancellation due to an emergency we had, but I was treated HORRIBLY over the phone, given no chance to explain, and then was harassed by text from the same person. I have NEVER experience such disrespect from an office who is there to provide services including customer service to their patients. I am in complete shock. So sad that knowing we’re in a pandemic to choose to be mean and nasty with out hearing their side of the story first. Saddening. No matter how many times I need to reschedule you should never treat anyone wrongfully sorry!!

I found Dr.Lal three years ago and she came to my rescue and she took my problem and did miracles after my orbital surgeon and neuro ophthalmologist told me it would be impossible for this problem to be fixed. Dr. Lal changed ny life! She is a God sent and amazing person who treated my double vision and pulled me out of depression after my strabiamus surgery with her! Sje gave me a new life again when my neuro ophthalmologist told me to wear a black patch and nothing could be done. I even have depth perception back.

Today I had to pay a fee for no showing on march 15 to my sons appointment. I could definitely say that it has been the most uncomfortable payment i had done. I was told by the doctor that I didn't have to bring my son for follow up if his condition disappeared. For my surprise two months later I was notified that a $ 25 fee was issue under my name. i called the office and spoke to one of the staff, a phone call was to be returned by " accounting dept" I could swear it was the doctor herself charging me the $ 25 fee. After explaining to her what I was told, this person didn't even care and went ahead to charge for me something that they even not call to confirm the appointment. I honestly paid them to stop any collections under my name but i still think it was really unfair. After reading all the negative comments it really makes very sad to see a professional doctor trying to collect money by this end. My child's pediatrician recommended I take him to an ophthalmologist following his well-child check. After calling every pediatric ophthalmologist on my insurance plan to find out there is a wait of 2-3 months to see the doctor, I was happy when this office told me I could get my child an appointment the next week. That should have been a huge red flag! I took him for his initial visit and it seemed ok. The office staff is not the friendliest and they got my insurance co-pays wrong but the doctor seemed knowledgeable and overall I was satisfied. Although my child did not require glasses the doctor recommended we do some "studies" to get a baseline since we had already met our deductible for the year. Another red flag! I made the follow-up appointment which I then needed to reschedule because my other child was ill the day of the appointment. There was no mention of a cancellation fee at that time. When I showed up at the rescheduled appointment the office staff asked for my co-payment which seemed a little high to me so I asked for a break down. Only at that time did they mention I had a $25 cancellation fee from the last appointment. We walked out. First, I didn't cancel, I rescheduled. Second, as a pediatric practitioner the practice should be prepared for cancellations as emergencies do come up with children. Third, they should have mentioned the fee when I first called to reschedule. Based on services the doctor was going to bill for the appointment we left, it seems she lost $450 for insulting me with a $25 nonsense fee. For a doctor who seems to be all about the money, this surprises me. Do what you wish but if you are looking for a long-term, trusting relationship with a pediatric eye doctor, better to wait the 2-3 months for the other doctors than go here. My child's pediatrician recommended I take him to an ophthalmologist following his well-child check. All three of my kids see Dr. Lal and she's been amazing with them. She's smart and straight forward. My kids love coming to see her. I highly recommend her.

Very rude and aggressive. Asking questions definitely aggravated her. we felt very uncomfortable in her office. Plus the only doctor who collects " deductible estimates " before you even see her. Very odd. Not going back.

Obviously she doesn't want many people finding her on here as her last name is completely different! She is completely money hungry! Office staff gave off extremely bad vibes and were very unprofessional. We left as all they wanted was money and refused to take our insurance which her website says that they accept. Will never go to this office again.

I saw this doctor because I had a stye on my eyelid. She explained everything to me including showing me diagrams of the eye so I could see exactly what was causing my symptoms. She was so thorough and I left there feeling confident that I was in good hands. I then returned to her to have a surgical procedure in the office to drain it, and it went very smoothly. She is a really smart doctor and is great with people. She does not miss any detail in regards to taking great care of patients.

Great doctor! Very friendly . Great skills and very smart! Highly recommend this doctor and practice.
