Grant Garlick

He did surgery on my right knee a few years ago and it's bothering me again. He reassured me what he did was stills intact and is looking into the problem.

It’s been a little over 5 weeks that Dr. Garlick gave me a full knee replacement (he replaced my other one three years ago). I’m so grateful for his expertise!!!! I’m still going to physical therapy 3 times a week and I’m back riding my horse!!! No pain medicine any more, not even Tylenol! Thank you Dr Garlick!!!

I had a quick but good appointment with Dr.Garlick. We reviewed my x-rays, current pain trouble and agreed that I would come back to see him if exercise and other lifestyle changes were not working.

Dr. Grant Garlick is one of the most caring and compassionate human beings on this side of Heaven. Since 1986 to present I have had 5 operations on my left knee. I would suffer with chronic knee pain and swelling. My knee was limiting me to do the things my wife and I love to do while RVing. Dr. Grant Garlick and his team have done a stupendous job. I am 29 days postop and I and able to walk long distances without any pain whatsoever. I don’t have the words to express my gratitude for a job well done. It is simply amazing to me to be able to have full extension and 114 degrees of flexion after only two PT sessions. Went for a 2nd opinion. Got great advice. Now to decide to keep the original Dr or change to Dr. Garlick.

Dr. Garlick is hands down the absolute best. He and his staff made sure I had the best experience and gave me all the tools needed to have the very best out come. I am so lucky I found this man. He is a true artist when it comes to his practice. After the surgery I was in very, very little pain. After just a couple of days I was only taking Tylenol for mint discomfort. Home therapy got me on my feet and walking in less than 10 days. Now I will say that I followed to the letter everything the doctor and therapist lates out for me. I selected Dr Garlick for my Orthopedic surgeon via a friend’s recommendation and the great videos he has on his website explaining what to expect with a total knee replacement. I found Dr Garlick to be very interested in my expectations from the surgery and fully answered my questions. He and his staff were very helpful to me in getting back to my active life style in just 3 short months. I will certainly go back to Dr Garlick when I need a replacement for my other knee. Dr Garlick replaced my knee one year ago. I went from unable to walk a city block to four miles - no problem. My recovery from surgery was amazing - I was able to return home the same day and walked into my home. My only regret is that I waited so long to have the surgery.

Professionalism at all levels. Would highly recommend when xrays are taken, address each xray.....what do you see doctor? If good, say so. If there is a concern, major or minor, say so. What's the point of getting xrays if you do not review them with your patients? Just a thought, not a sermon.

I was very happy that he didn't immediately suggest replacement surgery. He takes a conservative approach to fixing my problem. All of the staff I dealt with were courteous and pleasant.

The Staff at Dr Garlick office is very professional, caring and helpful from the time you check in until you see the doctor. I never have a long wait in that office even when i may have to get X-Rays. I don't know how they do it but they keep patients happy and constantly check on the patients. Thanks for your service.

While on vacation in Tampa my wife had a trip/fall while we were taking a walk. Unfortunately she broke her right wrist and her left leg during the fall. The truly fortunate thing is that Dr. Garlick was the orthopedic surgeon on call for the emergency room this past weekend. Dr. Garlick reviewed my wife’s x-rays and scans in the middle of the night on Saturday night/Sunday morning and came by my wife’s room on Sunday to give us all the details, treatments required, and outlook. He is very personable, professional, and straight forward with you! We appreciated his candor and compassion. It is obvious this man was meant to be a healer. Two days later we are in his office getting fit up with a cast for her arm and a special brace for her broken femur. The entire staff were wonderful folks. We are getting ready to make the drive home tomorrow and this would not even be an option if not for Dr. Garlick and his staff. Can’t say enough good things about these folks. I just had my one year follow up with Dr. Garlick who performed a partial knee replacement on me in January 2020. I cannot express how much this procedure has changed my life! I should say given my life back. I am now able to go on walks, toss the football with my 10 year old and I am now able to even play basketball with NO pain in my need! Don't make the mistake of thinking all orthos are the same! What Dr. Garlick has the ability and experience to accomplish is nothing short of amazing. Do not proceed without first having an appointment with Dr. Garlick!

Every visit went smoothly and the outcome worked very well in every situation. I could not be more pleased. All staff personnel I came in contact with were always pleasant and competent. Wait time was consistently brief, making the visits concise. Love it.

Had surgery at memorial in Tampa. Out of hospital in 28 hrs. Off of walker 1 week! Never used a cane! The most spectacular outcome from a surgery ever! He is very skillful at what he does and I have recommended him to many people. He is honestly the BEST, and no, I am not his mom!

Dr Garlick didnt send fluid to the lab he removed from my knee and because of this my other Dr lacked information about my knee. I also saw him in June 2020 for broken leg and he didnt tell me a potential blood clot and subsequent Pulmonary Embolism from my leg to my lung could occur and did. I could have died as these can both be fatal. A very basic thing an Orthopedic Doctor should tell a patient but Dr Garlick failed to do it. I'm lucky to be alive no thanks to him. And i missed an opportunity to appeal insurance decision to have acid shots in my knees because of his poorly qualified secretary and staff. Would not see him again because of his unprofessional attitude, demeanor and failure as a Doctor. I recommend finding someone else if you value your life. The bare minimum one should expect from their physician is to be talked to respectfully and told basic life saving information. I would not want a Dr who cant do that to operate on me.

For about two and a half years, I’ve been conservatively treating a chronic knee condition with Dr Garlick. Unfortunately, the came time where those were no longer effective and a total knee replacement was the only remaining option. Dr Garlick recently performed the knee replacement. The day of the operation Dr Garlick’s explanations of the operation and what to expect the next few days afterwards had a reassuring and calming effect - especially for my wife. Throughout the process, Dr Garrick has been incredibly informative, no question that we had, and we had many, went without a thorough explanation. I am just about one month pre-op and my results thus far have been fantastic. I have been very attentive to the physical therapy goals set by Dr Garlick Each day I’m seeing incremental improvements which is exciting and encouraging. A few days ago the tape over the incision was removed. Having seen the scars on others, I was prepared to see one of those Frankenstein scars. When the tape was removed I could not believe my eyes! There was literally minimal scaring, and with time that will lessen more. I appreciate Dr Garlick’s attention to every facet of the operation. I had total knee replacement with Dr Garlick in October. I have been very impressed with him and his staff . I am a retired surgical nurse and had my other knee replaced 4 yrs ago, different Dr. I would recommend Dr. Garlick . to anyone.. My recovery has been awesome and the rehab has gone smoothly. If I can give this review and this doctor zero stars I would ! Highly disappointed with dr. Grant Garlick and the outcome of my surgery. I ruptured my patellar tendon and he was the doctor who operated on my knee on September 11, 2019. I saw him for follow up visits like i was supposed to and every time he assured me I was fine and everything was going according to plan even tho I felt discomfort and clicking in my knee when I walked and excruciating pain after my strengthening session with the physical therapists at Florida Orthopaedic institute! His follow up visits with me became shorter and less informative every time and not once did he offer to do any mris or X-rays to see what was wrong with my knee he would just run some tests with his hand bending my knee back and forth for 20 to 30 seconds if that and would tell I’m fine and to resume physical therapy to strengthen my quad muscle, till the point I asked him how he was so sure i was ok if I didn’t feel fine and his exact words were “ you don’t need an mri I can tell your fine by these hands “ and that didn’t sit well with me so I demanded an mri and sure enough the results came back that I tore that tendon again ! I also remember a time where I tried to show him video clips of me in therapy and his response to me was “ need to see highlights not the whole clip, I wish I had that type of time “! I’ve seen multiple doctors after and all came to the agreement that a second Surgery will he needed to reattach my torn tendon. I believe his negligence is to blame and would not recommend him to any one!

Dr. Garlick performed a partial knee replacement on my left knee last year. I can’t say enough good things about him. The surgery was a success and a life changer for me. I highly recommend Dr. Garlick and all of his staff.

When I viewed the doctors profiles on the FOI website and Dr. Garlick said his focus/interest was on the knee, I decided to schedule an appointment with him. I had a total knee replacement in July 2019 & would highly recommend him. His nurse Stephanie, assistant Caitlin & PA Elizabeth make a great team.

Doctor Grant Garlick replaced my left knee 12-18 and replaced my second knee 11 days ago. I highly recommend he and his staff for any knee problems. I am looking forward to my life without knee pain!

Excellent care, had a partial rt knee replacement, I am 5 weeks post surgery and my knee has not felt this good in 10+years. If you want to feel you are in good hands when your body is feeling like a broken bird, this is the doctor to go to. Dr. Garlick has a great bedside manner with all his patients. He will take the time to understand your problem or injury. I have gone to him for my knees; as well as a shoulder injury. I have found relief in both areas of my body with Dr G. recommendations and treatments. As we age, our mind is young, but the body starts showing something different otherwise. Dr. Garlick is superb and I feel confident that I will get better in his care. Also his staff is wonderful and friendly. 5 star rating.

I had a partial knee replacement a year ago. I can not say enough about the care and compassion of Dr. Garlick and his staff. I can honestly say that he gave my life back to me. I was in so much pain I didn't want to do anything. Now, a year later, I am doing great.

I have had both knees replaced, right is 14 weeks old, left is less than 6 weeks. With Therapy the recovery has been quick return to normal living with little to no pain in less than 3 weeks for me. He is high energy and attentive explained his use of equipment and reason for using visionaire knee prosthetic.

Dr. Garlick has treated my advanced osteoarthritis in both knees for several years, mainly with shots. He recently performed a total knee replacement on my9 left knee, which as is normal, is still in treatment through physical therapy to adopt to the implant. After one month, the repaired left knee is already functioning to the extent that I can walk fairly normally and returned to basic activities. Surgery went very well, and pain management was effective.

Dr. Garlick is without peer. I’ve had other orthopedic surgeries & physicians, none of which come close to his knowledge, individualized treatment and procedures. I would recommend that friends/family (outside of Florida) travel here to Tampa for a knee replacement. Not that I want to do my other knee, but if I needed to, Dr. Garlick is the only surgeon I would even consider.

I was told 7 Yrs ago I was a candidate for a new knee. I had Cortisone injection that enabled me to function for just under 5 Yrs. After the second injection Dr. Garlick and Elizabeth were surprised that I did not ask for a knee replacement. I waited because I though I might never have to have it replaced. I was doing fewer and fewer activities. The pain persisted. Dr Garlick replaced my knee. Now I wish I had had the Knee joint replace earlier. Dr Garlick answered all my questions.

From the Office staff to Dr Garlick, I cannot tell you how nice and caring these people are. I had both my knees replaced by Dr Garlick . The first one I had done in October and the second one a week before Xmas and I am out and about doing my normal everyday things. He is the best, he listens, gives you his opinions, and if he had too I am sure he could perform the surgery in his sleep . Dr, Garlick is hands-down one of the best Orthopedic doctors in the Bay area. He doesn't come across egotistical as many confident doctors do. I have had the greatest experience with him & staff from the diagnose of my knee problems to the partial replacement that he performed in 2016. I recently come to see him again through a work related injury to my knee. He was able to immediately tell me what the exact damage was & the time it would take to heal. He was spot on & now I am back to normal.

Dr. Garlick and his staff was very professional, down to earth and easy to talk to. He answered all my questions and made me feel at ease about my surgery. He did an excellent job repairing my patella tendon. I highly recommend him to anyone needing orthopedic surgery. He is the BEST at what he does. I am grateful that I had him as my doctor.

Dr. Garlic worked with me over the past five years with my left knee deterioration and arthritis issues. He did not want to rush me into knee replacement surgery but we both agreed that point would come in the future. Dr. Garlic always told me I would know when the time comes and it did this past summer. I had my knee replacement on 8/22 and my results have been fantastic. The rehab and recovery that Florida Ortho had in placed worked extremely well. My life has improved dramatically!!

My wife and I give Dr Garlick, staff and PT team TEN stars. Five isn’t enough. From our very first appt with Dr Garlick and his staff, my wife and I felt confident in his diagnosis and frankness in recommending no choice but total knee replacement. I explained I was a tennis teaching pro, he said he was a tennis player who had successfully performed many knee replacements with players and pros. With his professionalism and surgical expertise, my total knee replacement was a a total success!

Without reservation, I highly recommend Dr. Garlick for resolving knee issues. He's professional, personable, and focuses on ferreting out and solving the root cause of the problem with minimal invasion. I've had a partial replacement in each knee over the past two years and both went smoothly and were successful. Following his advice and instructions helped me recover quickly and I was back to my normal daily routine in minimal time. His staff is friendly, professional and accommodating.

I had total right knee replacement surgery with Dr. Garlick September 10, 2018. He is huge on preventative measures. Even my pharmacist, was impressed when he ordered medications, for just in case of symptoms. I highly recommend Dr. Garlick at Florida Orthopedic. I am so glad, I finally had this surgery. I am on the other side of healing and doing great. He is very concerned for his patients... I had tried the injections, but they did not work. Surgery was my last option.

Dr . Garlick replaced my knee in February. He did a good job on the actual surgery, but I developed significant scar tissue, probably b/c of how I heal, but also Dr. Garlick discharging me w/o PT orders. After my two week follow-up, he ordered PT. I started PT but only got to 65 deg ROM. Dr. Garlick only offered a total revision to fix the problem. I went to a doc in Jax who did a manipulation under anesthesia, which is non-invasive. I am at 130 deg now. Will not recommend Garlick or FOI.

I am glad that I visited Dr. Garlick. He is such an amazing doctor. I had pain in my knees and he gave me very nice suggestions on how to manage my knee pain rather than exaggerating it.

Dr. Garlick is the best; he has earned very high regard in the medical community in Tampa Bay. I have been his patient for over 2 years and based on the information he provided, the evidence from X-rays and MRIs, it was clear that is was time for a partial right knee replacement . I had this surgery on 4/23/18, followed his protocol for pre/post op procedure, and at 6 weeks' recovery, I feel quite good, exercising faithfully, and getting back to normal. I recommend Dr. G without reservation!

Dr. Garlic was not only very professional but he is a very caring Dr. He takes every precaution to make sure every detail is covered. Long history of severe OA in knees, with multiple injections, procedures, therapies which were ultimately unsuccessful. Finally saw Dr. Garlick. He is very knowledgeable regarding current therapies and treatment options. He is also very straightforward when presenting options. Listens and answers questions completely. Friendly, compassionate and empathic. Had total knee replacement two weeks ago with excellent results. Thank you Dr. Garlick.

After having three surgeons tell me that I needed a total knee replacement and they couldn't help me because I was too young, I made the two hour trip to see Dr. Garlick. For the first time, a cortisone shot worked because he used an ultrasound machine, and they didn't. He eventually did do a partial knee replacement, which was the perfect solution. The Surgery Center was amazing, and the operation was a piece of cake. He is the only orthopedic doctor I will ever see. Thank you Dr. Garlick!!

My husband saw Dr. Garlick as a new patient today. As a health care provider, I am very diasspointed in his experience which was reported to me. My husband is a retired, disabled US Army veteran. Due to his 20 years of service he has multiple health issues. My husband felt judge by this doctor due to being overweight (as a result of health issues not because He doesn't attempt to be active) and on Medicare. At one point during the visit my husband was asked why was he "on Medicare."

I switched from the very popular Dr. Lyons to Dr. Garlick. He is wonderful. I broke my right knee cap in many pieces. He managed to salvage a few of those pieces and now it is good as new. Love him!
